View Full Version : Samoa Joe to WWE?

Steve Austin made some comments a few weeks ago about how WWE should sign Joe as soon as they can, now it seems/word has it Joe has started to seriously consider jumping ship.

I know this has been talked about before, but now that there's legit, although slight at the moment, chance that he might end up in WWE, I want to know how you think he'd do in WWE. How would you book his debut? How would you book him period?

I loved Joe in ROH, but ever since he's been in TNA, I've only seen a handful of his matches there.

From what I gather reading other people's posts tho, seems like his TNA has been less than thrilling. Would really love to see him mix it up with some of the young guns in WWE

His matches with Kurt Angle were fantastic. His time with TNA has been less than thrilling, but that is more of TNA themselves than Samoa Joe.

I figured as much, which is all the more reason for him to jump.

Unless WWE pulls a Gail Kim again and just signs him to keep him away from TNA

If it is true that CM Punk has Vince's ear currently Joe probably has a good chance of being used properly.

Joe can still go, but his weight is getting out of control. He's always been big and everything, but he's always been "in shape." Now he just looks fat.

Wouldn't mind seeing Joe in WWE if he was used properly but I get a bad vibe that we'd end up with Umaga 2.0 or something. :-\ But either way it can't be worse than what TNA is doing with him *knock on wood*.

Most Samoans besides the Usos seem to have pretty good success in the WWE even if they are typecasted, so I would be all for Joe going over. WWE is currently lacking guys with a sort of brutality to them. Joe would stand out I think.

I don't know, that might work to Joes advantage. WWE seems to keep their wrestlers in better shape than TNA.

TNA has fucked Joe up ever since Bischoff & Hogan came in. I know TNA was fucked up before but at least Joe was on consistantly and he was given time/opponents to have good to great matches with.

I think a move out of TNA would be great for Samoa Joe. He may as well go to the WWE and try his luck there. Especially if CM Punk has Vince's ear. And if a WWE run goes south, I am more than certain he could return to ROH and ply his trade there.

I think being in TNA caused Joe to lose a lot of motivation. The company is clearly going nowhere fast. Perhaps with the help of Punk, it could light a fire under his ass and we can see the brutal Samoa Joe once again.

This is what will happen. He will sign and then we'll wait until he shows up on television. It'll be forever and he'll get a small push. We will mark out when he debuts like crazy even though we know his time there will be numbered. Then they will tell him to lose weight and he'll say fuck you and leave.

I actually think the best way to debut Samoa Joe would be via NXT. Have him show up on the show, and have one of the Pros call him fat -- only for Joe to snap and basically make a Pro tap-out on his first night. He doesn't need to win the entire competition. In fact, you can have him eliminated really early on, and Striker really feign surprise. Joe says that he respects the decision of the WWE Universe, but he has a feeling that the Pros are threatened by him. He challenges one of them to get in the ring with him, but security is out before any Pro accepts, and the Pros just wave as Joe is escorted out.

Cue them all turning up backstage choked out. Eventually, the connection is drawn, and Triple H calls out whoever is doing it. Joe answers, and Triple H says that if he wants to be in the WWE so bad, he better be careful what he wishes for. The attacked Pros then band together and surround the ring on Joe, and he seems eager to fight. Joe manages to pounce when they try to enter the ring, keeping them out for a bit, but eventually they come in after one takes a bit of a beating, taking down Joe and laying him to waste.

The next week, Josh Mathews or someone is wish Joe, and asks him how he feels after last week (clearly fearing for his safety). Joe is all excited about it, and says "You know what, I may have even deserved it." The Pros seem to respect Joe now that they have gotten their licks in, but one Pro in particular (a heel would be best), takes exception to Joe's antics and wants a match with him. Cue Joe's PPV debut, where the heel gets the victory with shenanigans. "Welcome to the WWE, Joe!" A win is gotten back on RAW, though, where Joe manages to be one step ahead of the heel this time, and manages to counter-act heelish tactics and get a submission victory -- moving onto the US Title scene.

Considering how HHH wants Beer Money as well, I could easily see them snatching up Joe and possibly a few other guys as soon as they get the chance.

I loved Joe in ROH, but if he's as unmotivated and out of shape as people say (I never watch TNA); He would just fizzle out and eventually be released. The idea isn't too appealing unless he gets into better shape and becomes a brutal asskicker again.

I think they should give him grow dreadlocks and a handlebar mustache, call him Funky Joe. They could reuse Flash Funk's entrance music.

OOOOOHHHH JOE, YOU ARE SOOO FUNKY!

I don't really care about him. For the brief time when I watched TNA, back when he was having the feud with Styles and Daniels over the X-Division title I didn't care for him, and people tend to say he's gotten worse over time.

If they brought him straight up to the main roster, I'd just hype him up in vignettes as "Joe." It's not flashy, but I think it would suit Joe's character of just being a ruthless motherfucker who needs no last name. Sort of like a Sheamus type deal.

If he were brought up via NXT, I'd give him Joe as a first name, but some sort of WWE-generated last name.

They should shorten his name and make this his TitanTron:

Dear Reprogramed Robot Jesus, NO!

There's so much better talent out there they can sign. Beer Money, PAC, Pepe, El Generico, that one dude who is number 346 on PWI's top 500, or just work with who they have like Zack Ryder, Curt Hawkins, Tyler Reeks, Mason Ryan, Evan Bourne, Yoshi Tatsu... WWE does NOT need Soma Joe.

Samoa Joe... hm...

I have heared much of him but have never been 'sold' on him. I think I saw him live at a ROH show but I can not remember, always stoned ya know. I remember the great stuff about those shows yet I don't recall Joe much if any.

Anyway, he has never sold me on all of the hype that wrestling fans tend to give him.

Why bring Joe the WWE and develop him when WWE has numerous new talents that they are developing?

Now CM Punk and D Bryan both came from ROH and have learned or are learning the WWE way of in ring business. They are really exciting because of their ROH and indy background which mixes in with their abilities to learn the WWE way of wrestling.

If Joe can do this then I'd love to watch him in WWE but why put the efforts into him when they are already putting the efforts into new, fresh, young and somewhat home grown talents.

If history repeats itself then yes, Joe will join WWE.

It's almost like Bryan, Punk, Nigel, Colt, and The Kings of Wrestling are like "The Radicalz" the next group of younger stars who have raised the bar as far as in ring work goes.

Of course it's not the same story as it was in the past but it looks like that group of individuals who stood out to the fans of ROH and indy wrestling are finally going to get their due, and their shot in WWE.

The only mistake WWE made was never signing Sting to a contract, I really doubt they will avoid Joe.

Joe is a killer character, and would totally fit in with feuds of course with Punk or Bryan, but also imagine matches with Christian, Orton, Cena, Ziggler, Kofi, and Alberto Del Fucking Rio, those would be amazing.

I'd put Joe on a four year contract plan and take it easy on a mega push for him. I'd make him a mid-card heel monster staple, to the point where the fans would eventually demand a World Title shot for him turning him face against the mega champion.

Samoan Joe should come in with a gimmick that plays to his strengh which means he should come in as a bad guy who is a monster. Joe should never be a friendly smiling cool guy, he should be a cruel monster because thats whats makes him best.

I think it would make ALOT of sense to have Joe come in as CM Punk's hired bodyguard. He comes in at Summerslam and DESTROYS John Cena to pieces and then says that he is CM Punk's new muscle.

That would get him over big time.

This makes a lot of sense, but I doubt it will ever happen.....WWE had the chance to sign Joe a few years back "when he was hot" and chose not to, so why do it now?

If Samoa Joe signed with WWE, they'd be hard on his case to lose weight...they'd even have the announcers poke fun at him on the air and everything...so...

...still, I don't see the WWE pushing him all that much...I don't know...

To be fair, if I were were Joe's agent, I'd have verbally abused him so many times (over the phone, of course) for the number of contract extensions the man has signed with TNA. He either never learns, or he's afraid to move on.

Imagine this: Samoa Joe debuts and wins his first match against someone, as Michael Cole is calling the match, laughing at Samoa Joe. Perhaps not even doing anything but that fake laugh and saying "He's fat!" over and over again. The next week, Joe comes out and wins a second match, with the exact same shtick. After the match, though, Joe leaves the ring and approaches Michael Cole on commentary. He slaps the absolute living shit out of Michael Cole and drags him into the ring and beats the life out of Cole, putting him in a submission move to end the segment.

In two weeks you'd see the dominance of Joe in the ring, and get the idea that he is a killer. But he'd also be positioned as a huge babyface who doesn't take shit from people like Michael Cole who have unkind things to say. Putting Michael Cole on a chokehold might be the easiest way to get over these days.

If Joe got into shape (which I'm sure he would if you put a nice fat WWE pay check in front of him) I'd be into it what with the K.O.W. and Punk and Cabana..
