View Full Version : Edge to Headline Summerslam?

From Rajah.com:
WWE has confirmed that this year’s SummerSlam will be held at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Sunday, August 15.

So Summerslam is in Edge's hometown. Maybe that could support Edge being in the main even against either Triple H or Chris Benoit (or maybe both)? Sounds interesting, IMO. :y:

Doubt it, it's rumored to be Triple H and Benoit. And Edge ain't quite ready. But you never know, WWE likes to push guys who "just came back" sometimes. But I doubt it.

Well I keep hearing that they are pushing back Hunter's filming, so now that T-dot has been confirmed for Summerslam (more power to me), and Backlash didn't do all that well buyrate wise, I think HHH will get the belt back in June at Bad Blood and lose it to Edge at Summerslam. That would fit in nicely because Edge could have the title until Nov-Dec time, and that would coincide with his book release in November.

Seems to make sense.

I guess it won't happen then.

I really don't want Edge with the title. I'D RATHER SEE TRIPLE H WITH THE GOLD.

As much as I'd like to see this happening, until it does I won't believe it, I personally cannot trust anything that comes from Rajah's

It wouldn't surprise me if HHH beat Benoit for the belt on that show now.

No way in hell that Triple H will regain and drop the title in such a short time span. The WWE has invested a LOT of time into making Triple H look like Jesus Christ.....or fairly close to that.

If Triple H defeats Benoit to regain the title, it will probably be another 3 or 4 months before Triple H JOBS to a guy like Edge (but not before getting a few solid victories over some other wrestlers).

The whole point of Triple H winning so much (and having such long title reigns), is so that it makes it look SIGNIFICANT when Triple H JOBS. If Edge wins the title just a month or two after Triple H wins it, it makes Triple H looks weak.

And god forbid, the WWE does not want to do that!

I know they want to push Edge to the top in quick order (if the fans will accept him). He has a book coming out in Nov, so they likely want to have him near or at the top for promotional purposes.

Hunter wants to break Flair's 16 title reigns, so whats another loss? He'll just get the title back in a couple of months.

I just know that Hunter's movie schedule has been pushed back, and I have a hard time seeing him go without the title for very much longer.

Seems to make sense.Assuming that everything you said there will happen, Triple H will go off and shoot his movie while Edge has his title run. What I'd like to see happen is Chris Benoit turn heel and against Edge and feud with him for the World Title which Edge "stole" from Benoit since he got to face Triple H at Summerslam instead of Benoit. Perhaps at Survivor Series or Armageddon, Benoit regains the World Title from Edge and holds it until Wrestlemania; perhaps Benoit drops the title to Randy Orton.

For Loose Cannon, another scenario: let's say that Randy Orton decides to go after World Champion, Edge after Summerslam since Orton's the new leader of Evolution after Triple H leaves. Orton figures that he has big shoes to fill, and it's his time to bring the gold back to Evolution. I can see the same title change played out until Wrestlemania.

Personally I'd rather see Benoit regain the belt and have Orton win it at Wrestlemania therefore Benoit has numerous title runs on his belt, and Edge gets his taste of glory.

Personally, I'd rather jump off a cliff, while being lit on fire, with a hand grenade in my mouth.

As for Summerslam, since Hunter just has to have his belt back, I figure he's doing to Benoit what he did to Jericho: blame the low buyrates solely on Benoit, then shunt him down to the midcard and make sure he never gets pushed again.

God, I love wrestling these days...... :n:

Please don't push Edge, he isn't entertaining. Since Edge and Xian split, he hasn't entertained me at all. His angles with Hogan were painful at best, and he may be deserving of a midcard push, but main event at one of the biggest cards of the year? You can hear the bell tolling on the buy-rates.

^ sicne edge and christian split he's barely been in the ring dumbass, give him a chance will ya? Ill agree i don't really want edge to win the title, i couldn't careless if he has a book coming out, they should make him ic champ instead, that would make ALOT more sense and everybody would be happy then. He really needs to improve that awful spear of his to, if not that then get a new finisher and i wont mind, i just don't want to see a rubbish spear like that win a title like the WWE title.... Oh sorry i mean the World heavyweight title.

OK for a kick off

YOU SPEAK PURE ASS

Yes I do agree that Edges run with Hogan was crap. But look back over Edges career he is one of the most entertaining guys on the roster right now. Teaming with Mysterio, The Haircut angle with Kurt, The Edge vs Eddie because Eddie said he'd never been speared angle, Ok so Most of Edges great matches have been with the Angle's, Benoit's and Eddie's of this world but I ask you to watch back over the matches then come back and say Edge didnt more than hold his own. He purely deserves a stint in the limelight and with his book coming out soon this is the time to give him it.

At the end of the day Edge is a solid entertaining worker, his mic skills are improving rapidly and before his injury he was 'over' with the fans.

Can this be said of JBL? Nope
Can this be said of Hardcore Holly? Nope
Can this be said of Kevin Nash? Nope
Can this be said of Scott Stiener? Nope

No Further Questions Your Honour :)

When did I say they should be pushed? Also, are you aware they aren't even all competing for pushes on the same brand? So JBL, Holly, Nash and Steiner are all irrelevant as not one of them is currently an active worker availiable for a push. Edge is not entertaining, he does not draw, and he doesn't sell merchandise. His crowd reaction when he returned was noticably poor and his character is tired. I cannot think of one top quality singles match he has taken part in that has earnt him a main event slot. He might have had decent matches, but lets remember, most of the WWE roster could put on very good matches paired with Angle and Benoit.

As for Edge's Mic-skills improving rapidly, I disagree. He doesn't have what it takes to be pushed as a top guy in the industry. He has passable skills for a midcarder, but shouldn't go any higher until he learns how to cut a decent promo.

I am still saying Edge vs Orton would be a cool match to see or Benjamin vs Orton vs Edge that would rock too IMO.
