6 Fight Nights on FX and 4 major fights on the big Fox network. Primetime on a network like Fox is huge for the sport and you know that first big network fight card will be stacked.

Fox is apparently going to have its own guys for pre and post show stuff too. I'm really hoping for Bas.

This is huge. But I wonder how potential training injuries might go over. Can't bill a huge fight and then have your main event fall apart 3 weeks before.

Also, posting a link would be awsome. Comon, you're an mma mod now. Step it up.

This is nothing but good for the sport really. Hopefully it gets it more into the mainstream, and garners more acceptance among the casual sports fan.

no Joe Rogan makes me very unhappy.....

Eh... Joe's pregame stuff mostly consists of "Man this fight is going to be awesome." I'd rather just hear him on commentary and let a combination of Bas and Mauro Ranallo give me the pregame.

I agree that he has alot of the same quotes every card but he does a great job of pumping me up for each fight. Makes a regular mid card fight seem like a main event at times so that does count alot for me..hope the FOX guys can do the same

Fuck lockouts, prima Donna wide receivers, and juiced up homerun kings. MMA is pur, and beautiful. I'm excited to see it on Fox

Rashad, what the fuck are you doing without a suit on? Didn't you get the fucking memo? If Joe rogan has a suit on, your black ass better go to JC Penny's!
*after double checking...never mind, he's the affirmative action selection...JJ was busy doing thumb curls, and all rampage can do is howl.

Hendo vs. Silva is rumored for the first FOX main event . That'd be great but kinda sucks Hendo would have to cut back down I guess. He's been a beast at 205

How exactly did Spike Tv end up loosing the tv rights to UFC?

I know Spike Tv basically redid their entire network once they bought UFC and it took off in popularity but seems a bit odd for them to just let UFC go unless something bigger caused the split.

According to Dana, the heads at Viacom had final say. It kind of makes sense since Bellator is on MTV and Viacom owns MTV as well as Spike. They can probably have more control over Bellator's product, if not buy an interest in it for cheaper than renewing with the UFC.

So apparently the first card on Fox will feature Cain vs Dos Santos for the HW belt.

JDS is going to blast him into the next week. Can't wait.

Huge fight. Wonder why FOX only gave them an hour though

Apparently the only live fight shown will be Velasquez-Dos Santos and if it ends early they'll show replays of earlier fights.

Not sure how I feel about that. Not quite the biggest bang.

I do not understand the one hour show with one fight only thing.

It sounds like a recipe for failure more than anything.

Sounds like a good way to ensure this thing does not score HUGE ratings. So what happens when either Cain or JDS pop each other 2 minutes in and the fights over? Or what if a guy dodges a punch but gets clipped by part of the glove and the doctors stop the damn fight due to a cut ala Couture-Belfort II?

If they had 3 hours and a full set of stacked fights on Fox this would be amazing. Now I am not so sure.

I agree. Basing the entire event around one fight is risky. I guess they'll show replays of the other fights on the card if it ends early.

That is the same night as the Pacquiao fight though so maybe that has something to do with it being only one hour.

Why only one fight? If its n hour show, they should hve at least two.

The key to getting the ratings theyre looking for is not to interest fans like us. Its to attract and keep the attention of of people who never have bought a ppv or dont know much about mma. The type of people that will watch it because of the hype its getting.

Fox is going to be hyping this thing up big time. They have already started with advertisements during breaks of the nfl preseason games. For anyone not in america, and while im sure you know, nfl is the most watched sport in america, and this whole deal is to get this bigger in america.

Anyway, it is significantly easier to hype one fight to the general public than it is to hype five of them. It can also serve to be less risky from the standpoint of all it takes is one fight before the main event to really suck for it to kill the viewership for the rest of the night. So they went with a fight that is going to relatively guarantee to deliver outside of a 7 second ko or 25 minutes of noone engaging, which neither fighter has shown they do in the past.

They picked two heavyweight fighters that have the skill and fitness of their lighter-weight counterparts, and the power of the strongest of heavyweights. Not to mention each guy has a ton of heart, so it it is very likely that if one of them gets hurt early, they will fight back and not be finished.

This one fight is the appetizer to get all these fans that have never seen mma or given it a chance hooked. A full fightcard of fights on a 3 hour card could possibly serve to either lose the attention span of many people or cause them not to tune in until the main event if at all.

The fox hype machine is insane. They are going to play this up like its muhammed ali in the 70s. I really think they did the perfect thing here. Not only that, but they are going to ride the coattails of the manny paciao fight which could attract a lot of people who are buying that fight and can tune into another huge fight for free right before it.

They prob gonna fill half the hour with ridiculous hype, maybe some MMA 101 style info, and then. Roll out these two gladiators.

It is really a smart thing to do when you think about it, why book 2 or 3 hours and risk 3 or 4 fights going to decision and turning off first time viewers. This is a huge fight, and we somewhat know what to expect.

Goldie and Rogan are still going to be in the booth. The UFC kept control of the production when it comes to the actual event.

As far as the prefight, and this is just me guessing, I'd assume Jay Glazer would be a part of it since he's huge into MMA and already works for Fox. I'm sure they'd have Rachelle Leah on too as the token hot chick to do fluff pieces since she was the hottest Octagon girl of them all and also works for Fox now.
