BoxingScene.com posted an article (http://www.boxingscene.com/barrett-vs-tua-trilogy-bout-wrestlemania-xxviii--42699) about a fight between Monte Barrett and David Tua (nephew of Afa the Wild Samoan) being featured at Wrestlemania in Miami next year. Barrett claimed that he was in contact with John Cena (http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/profiles/23/john-cena/) who was talking with WWE's talent department about it.at first I saw "barrett" and thought they were gonna have Wade Barrett in a boxing match but..eh..I cant really see this happening..maybe as like a pre show thing but not on the main televised card..
Reading the article gives the idea even less of a plausibility but anyway..
boxing fans don't care about Monte Barrett and David Tua at this point, let alone them "fighting" again in front of wrestling fans. Has to be complete bollocks.

One of the comments on the article was that Barrett was coming to WWE..
so..maybe..that makes it make sense but its still dumb..

Or Vince thinking he's got his finger on the pulse of America.

I don't mind so much as long as it is a dark match intended to instill bloodthirst in the crowd.

Having one random attraction match at Wrestlemania is usually a good thing. Won't last that long and will be a nice change of pace, especially using it after a crazy early match (MITB, TLC, or any match with a lot of high flying moves).

But those "special attraction" matches usually feature at least one well established WWE figure - one who can lose clean and not completely destroy their credibility.

How do you know it won't last that long? What would WWE do if it went a full 10 or 12 rounds? Would the boxing commition have to "allow" these guys to do this?

Assuming it's even "real" at all?

What you mean? What I'm saying is if they'd be able to just appear on a WWE show without asking whoever they're affiliated with (WBO, WBC, whatever).

Why not have an NBA exhibition game while we're at it? You know, try to cram in as many scripted events as we can into one show.

They should just have another "Brawl for All"...

I wonder if these "Brawl for All" fights were real...I mean, if it was scripted, certainly WWE wouldn't have Bart Gunn win it...

They were real but the WWE had hoped it would be a vehicle to get Steve Williams over. They didn't account for the unstoppable fury that was Bart Gunn though.

Well, they can tweak it so one of the boxers mentors a wrestler, allowing the WWE figure to compete in the match. Cena only mentioned it, pretty sure 99% of the ideas thrown at them are tweaked by the writers.

A) Do you really assume it will be a real boxing match?
B) They can set it at a 3 or 4 round limit if it ends up being real (Which I doubt).

You asked how he knew it wouldn't last that long, and supposed it went on 10 or 12 rounds.
You were, after all, asking what WWE would do if it went on that long. That sounds like a supposition that it's real and somehow out of their control.

The Miz vs Lebron James with guest Ref Drew Carey.
they could do it if the NBA is still locked out..but it would be so much better if they did it in Cleveland cause Lebron would get MASSIVE heel heat.

David Tua got beaten by Monte Barrett in a rematch in Auckland last weekend. It was a boring match, and Tua sucked.
Tua is refusing to retire, despite the fact that he is old and will never go anywhere, and even his promoter has walked away from him...
And some dousche thinks this will be an attraction at Wrestlemania?
Snooki II would probably draw more...

....Yeah...long hair.
Bart Gunn had more personality while he was unconscious after Butterbean attempted to remove him from the gene pool at WM 15 than John Morrison rn

I don't think they do this. I don't follow boxing at all and I think it is safe for me to speak for every single rasslin fan that we would rather see rassling at WM.

...Just have David Tua accompany The Rock to his match, and leave it at that.

Cena should just be honest to the guy and say that it's a terrible idea.

...I remember when boxing got me all excited over David Tua when he was going to fight Lennox Lewis, and all because he had that uppercut that he wildly threw in hopes of finding his opponent's head...AND he looked vicious while doing so...
...damn you, boxing.
PS: Is Tua related to The Rock? I remember Afa accompanying him to the ring for a couple fights...

they'd have to make it a shoot if they dont want all of the best of their mid-carders injured...
wasn't that made to build up Dan Severn or Dr.Death?
