What's the deal with the nose strips? He had it on sometimes. Was it an injury, part of his tough guy gimmick or did he have a breathing problem?

Ahmed was awesome. Damn his kidneys tho. Those fragile bastards are the reason he bailed, and the reason I did not get to see him, in a cage match vs. The Undertaker at a house show.

Seriously, this has probably been one of the best solid black dudes WWE has had. Not the halfsies like the Rock, real black. But his kidneys were his achilles heel.

Yeah, he was full fledge darkie. If he hadn't gotten hurt he woulda stolen the WWF championship.

Equal opportunist. Besides, Ahmed was basically everything Cena wants to be. He was like a legit version of Cena. Taker it Easy

I highly doubt he could have been world champ. He was big and agile, but he had ZERO mic skills. I also read he had attitude issues and when he got to WCW he was very out of shape and his career was over

First show I ever saw in person was an In Your House in 1995, and Ahmed worked a dark match, squashing Skip. I remember watching that thinking "Man, that guy's going to be a star!"

Booker T and Stevie Ray used to wear them, too, back in the 90's...I think it was just, you know...going for "a look".

Unless he had a blocked nose or difficulty breathing.

There was a question about nose strips/nostrils on QI (A show about interesting facts).

It turns out that your nostrils change size through the day. One gets wider as the other gets narrower and vice versa. One regulates the physical functions of your brain and the other regulates your cognitive functions.

So when one is wider you'll be better at maths, spelling etc and, when the other is wider, you'll run faster, jump higher etc.

Nose strips open both nostrils wide so you get the best of both function. Which is why a lot of athletes wear them.

How could he have difficulty breathing with nostrils as big as that?

Big nostrils don't mean easy breathing just like a big neck doesn't mean easy food consumption tho.

They work. I put one on before I went to sleep and when I woke up my nasal passages felt weird, like more air was going through them than before.

M.V.P. wore Breathe-Rights, too. I'm sure it's "normal" for some guys.

Wasn't Ahmed Johnson supposed to win the World Title the night after Summerslam 1996? I remember he won a battle royal on Raw a few weeks before the PPV to earn a shot at the winner of the Michaels-Vader title match. I remember hearing that Vader was supposed to beat Michaels at the PPV, then drop the title to Johnson the next night on Raw. But then Johnson got injured before the PPV and I also heard that Michaels didn't want to job to Vader.

It seems like its a black thing but its seems to be a college ball thing thats proven to be an old wives tell being effective.f

<O:p</O:papparently there’s a point were the athlete stops breathing threw his nose and starts getting tired and uses the mouth, apparently this can delay switching from nose to mouth but in a controlled study it still showed no noticeable benefits.<O:p</O:p

Forget about the nose thing. What was up with those consistently wedgied trunks?

I used to run track once upon a time, and I tried them and felt that they worked.

Problem with me is they felt uncomfortable on my face, almost the opposite of the "pinched nose" feeling of swimming clips.

And the Cap'n is right... Ahmed needed some long tights or a singlet or something.

He almost DID have long tights...he had on like 4 knee pads, 2 of which came 3/4 up his thighs...

...what he DIDN'T have was passion for the business...

Why is his left arm mishapen? Looks like an alien trying to pop out or something?

Steriod abuse is my guess.
