Flash back 2-3 years...
Ted Was the hot young talent, tag champ with Cody Rhodes. He was placed into a movie role. He was rumored to be put in a program with Randy Orton and elevated to the Main Event. He was going to be pushed like the next big thing. There were Wrestlemania title match rumors in the long term booking plan.
And Now today he is the IC Champs Lackey, and barely has a job.
Where and when did it happen?

When Orton started getting the face pops and WWE Creative decided to push him as the babyface of Legacy instead.
Plus Teddy can't cut a promo to save his life

He loses to Orton and since Cody says he loses one more match he'll bag him
What could happen: He turns face and enters a feud with Cody for the belt
What I think might happen: he has one blowoff match with Cody who squashes him in like a minute, then either becomes a complete jobber until he's released, if he doesn't get released shortly after the Cody match.

Plus he was given the handicap of his father's name from the start. At least Randy and Cody had the advantage of having a different first name from their famous fathers. No matter how great Ted Jr. ever became, he'd never be the best Ted DiBiase in WWE history.

Ditto for Morrison, and they were pushing him as a major face at one time.
Personally, out of the two, I think DiBiase has better promos than Morrison.

Precisely nowhere. The guy is young (like 27 or 28, right?) and still involved in every Smackdown.
Sure he's not as high up on the card as he was predicted to be, but there's still plenty of time for him and he has enough talent and possibly more importantly, enough connections to make it higher up eventually.

It is pretty sad to see where TD is right now though. Back when he was on the verge of turning face he was getting some pretty big pops. But I think WWE going with Orton was the better decision, since it's obviously worked out well up 'til now.

Well yeah, but Morrison has the added advantage of being able to wrestle circles around Ted.

Remember when he debuted I thought he was gonna be huge as he was a way better on the mic than Cody was at the time he was oozing with charisma but I think the fact that WWE decided to squash his actual ego that it's hurt his chance but I hope that he can recover and reach his true potential.

The ball was dropped by WWE when they teased him turning face against Orton and they didn't go through with it.
However, he himself dropped the ball after WM25 when they essentially gave him his dad's gimmick and he couldn't make it work...he was just so boring. The writers can shoulder a little bit of the blame, but that gimmick should be able to get anybody over.

I think when they realized he wasn't his father.

I used to think they went wrong not turning him face against Orton. There was this one time the two had a match, and the fans were going nuts, wanting DiBiase to just fight back.
Feel like around that time was when they shoulda done it.
I'm thinking he would have ended up pretty much just like Alex Riley.

I see 2 different reasons:
#1: Creative never gave him anything susbstantial that could let his talents shine through
#2 He has no exceptional qualities, meaning that he's good in the ring, decent on the microphone and has a decent look, but no quality sticks out that screams main eventer.....

Biggest reason,
#3 He doesn't have a wicked DiBiase beard.
1.Plenty went wrong as someone said its hard being Ted the second rather than say Brett Dibiase or Randy Orton believe it or not Diffrent a different first name would have counted for a lot.
2 He was basically given his dads gimmick more or less there where small changes I feel they couldve run with more and had good results i.e. Maryse
3 Cody was lucky enough to be given a gimmick that has plenty of room to breathe plus when he arrived he wasa blank slate gimmick wise. Dashing allowed Cody to go from metro sexual with a fragile psyche (since his looks were his lifeblood) an when they got "taken away" he was allowed to evolve into a more unhinged and delusional character.Cody himself did a masterful job portraying himself as almost jumping off the slipery slope completely in his characters facial ticks and slight but noticeable broken speech pattern.
Ted Came in as "Priceless" and that immediately conjures up his father as well.
A lot of things fell into place for Cody that didn't for Ted he was stuck as the rich man's son To be honest hes one of the lineage wrestlers that could've benefited from a name change either completely or just the first name.
Storywise this might be his chance under Cody you could humble him and explain that hes been cut off from his dads wealth and then make him a face and go from there.

Remember when everybody thought that Ted Dibiase would be ok once he went solo, but that Cody Rhodes was going nowhere?
Yeah...things kinda turned around, eh?
Now, don't get me wrong...I think they're both bland, but...Ted even more so than Cody.

They even gave Ted "The Marine 2" out of nowhere, without really accomplishing anything in the WWE that made him worthy of it...
...he was pushed as "Ted Dibiase's son" even more than Cody as "Dusty Rhodes' son" or Randy Orton as "Cowboy Bob's kid".

Yest one realize, Ted Jr., I dunno, doesn't have a fucking personality?
I'm sure that pretty well covers it. At least Shelton Benjamin gave an effort to cut a promo or show some flair aside from his athletic prowess. Ted Jr. has very average athletic prowess.

when ted sr first introduced jr on raw years ago i would have sworn he was the second coming of orton. he had the charisma, look and ego right from the start..
like others stated the match he had with orton where orton just abused him and the crowd wanted him to hit orton was probably his peak, since nothing happened with that its been a steady decline since

Cody also doesn't have as much "family pressure" on him to be a success, since his older brother already achieved a certain level of fame in the WWE.

However JoMo can move like no body that I've seen in a long time. Can Ted Jr pull off a starship pain?

Morrison can barely pull off the Starship Pain so that's not really relevant. I'll watch Ted over Morrison any day of the week.
On topic though, yeah, DiBiase is kinda stagnating right now but he's got a feud with Rhodes coming I would imagine, so that's positive. Also, he's still young and he is talented. His time will come eventually.

JoMo can outwork Ted Jr in WWE, but WWE isn't letting Ted Jr work to at his best. There's a youtube video of Ted Jr using the million dollar dream as a chain from just standing, to a leg sweep, to a cobra/camel clutch combo.
JoMo and Ted are both :| on the mic. Morrison's in-ring style is more "captivating".

If he is the son of The Million Dollar Man and has his fathers name the WWE should definitely showcase it.
Expensive Suit, the Million Dollar Belt, a Bodyguard, Buying Title Shots, Paying People Off to FORFEIT in matches, Buying the 30th spot in the Royal Rumble.
Just do something other than sending him out there with his fathers name while wearing red spandex briefs.

I agree. WWE should definitely have him play off his dad's "Million Dollar Man" gimmick...
...heck, have Ted Sr as his Manager...
Honestly I think SD went pretty well for him. I hope he gets his heat back after the bagging, but the match itself was awesome. Competitive match with the world champion = :y:.

Only problem is Ted Jr. doesn't have the charisma or mic skills that his old man had to pull off the segments and skits necessary for that gimmick to not get boring after awhile.
Plus, they weren't far off that with his "Fortunate Son" schtick. He had the belt, the girl, the persona, hell, he even had Virgil.

There's your answer right there: he needed "A Virgil", not THE Virgil!

Seriously, though, he just became one of those guys WWE just stopped pushing- and right when they had him poised to enter a feud v. Danielson for the United States Championship. Didn't pull the trigger on that. And they also missed the boat on the resulting "losing everything" angle that Cody is now working so well. Would of been easy for them to make him "snap" in some way after his losing streak/losing the girl/looking disheveled thing, but he was never on TV enough for anyone to give a shit. That could have been turned into gold even with his "lack of charisma" if done right. Just seems they didn't even bother to do it at all.

People have that image so wrong. It's not that Virgil didn't have fans at that signing, it's that Virgil showed up early to prepare for all those fans.

The answer is that the guy has no charisma so therefore he is Rhodes' bitch, I would it would of been the other way round in the past but heck I was wrong.
