the he's on the floor getting punched in the face over and over again while his arms "instinctively" stay up in the air. Dunno, it seems like every time he's gets stopped it feels to me like he has so much more damage inflicted upon him than most, like he's a few fights away from being like Chuck Liddell was at the end. Maybe it's just me "worrying" cause I'm a big Forrest mark, dunno

That jab had to be a kai o kin punch

awesome show. good job by Nog. big win. Forrest :( . I knew that was coming, but was hoping he would get off a few good shots on Rua at least.

Silva was incredible as always. I mark out everytime he drops his hands and just lets the guy come in. That's like his hulking up routine. One quick jab and then another jab later and it was over. incredible how he timed all his strikes when Okami was down. He didn't just pounce on Okami and start swining like most guys do. He jut picked his targets and finished. amazing

A healthy Anderson Silva versus a non testosterone abusing Chael Sonnen won't be as close as their last fight in my opinion.

Fuck off with this healthy bullshit, GSP got eye poked repeatedly, and arguable deliberatly in his fight against Shields, and no one gave GSP a break. Or when he wrecked his groin against Alves in the third round and still butt fucked him, and outstuck him.

Silva stepped into the cage to fight, he couldn't stuff anything Sonnen throw at him, hurt rib or no hurt rib.

I hate that so much, if they are healthy enough to fight, they shouldn't make exuses. He got wrestlefucked for 4 and half rounds, and way bailed out with a submission. In fact, that it took so long to submit someone who has propensity for getting caught in submission makes it less impressive.

Anderson is great, but he has holes in his game.

And Sonnen is on TRT, so he'll being "juicing" when they fight again.

Next Big Thing
08-28-2011, 06:23 PM
That's ridiculous when you consider he had popped rib cartilage going into the fight (something acknowledged by Dana White himself, not just offered as an excuse from Anderson) which certainly factors into someones ability to stuff take downs. BTW, Chael's testosterone levels were elevated during that fight which indicates TRT abuse not just use. I guarantee you Chael's levels won't be at that when they fight again.

All of that does factor in, especially when you consider the fact that Chael Sonnen went to decisions against two guys Silva dismantled in Okami and Marquardt and was subbed by someone who Anderson toyed with because he was on his period or PMSing in Damian Maia. To ignore Anderson's injury, Chael's testosterone levels and Anderson's dominance over common opponents and just assume Chael has Anderson's number because he's a great wrestlefuck is inane.

You citing GSP is laughable too since the first thing he said after the fight was "I got poked in the eye" (i.e., "I didn't finish because I couldn't see") which is respectable and understandable but still an excuse by your standards.

IC Champion
08-28-2011, 06:32 PM
An excuse is still an excuse, used by GSP or anyone. It's also something that happened during the fight, and not something an injury that happened just before the fight. I'm not going to say he wasn't injured, I just think if it's not serious enough to force you out, it's not serious enough to be used as an exuse later, win or lose.

Next Big Thing
08-28-2011, 07:04 PM
An excuse (like popped rib cartilage) can also provide a logical explanation for why a guy with elevated testosterone levels who wrestlefucks his way to decision win after decision win can suddenly do to an undefeated champion what no other opponent has done before for 4 rounds (Including common opponents that the undefeated champion TKOed in the 1st round while said guy settled for decision wins against).

You also forget that this is PRIZE fighting. The UFC has tickets and pay per views to sale while Anderson has to earn money to support his family. It's not as simple as getting hurt and deciding to pull out when the entire PPV has been promoted around you for months. Especially in Anderson's case where that fight is happening right after the Demian Maia debacle in Abu Dhabi so Dana is already pissy.

IC Champion
08-28-2011, 07:20 PM
Anderson Silva isn't Denis Siver. If he gets hurt he can more than afford to take time off. Anderson until his fight with Sonnen wasn't much of a draw for a champion.

Next Big Thing
08-28-2011, 07:28 PM
You miss the point. Even if Anderson wasn't much of a draw, that fight card and event is even less of a draw without him and would have been the second straight Anderson Silva related disappointment (right or wrong). It's a business first and foremost. No matter how much he may say otherwise, Dana doesn't give a shit about most of these fighters, especially those who make him or his promotion look bad (like Anderson did at Abu Dhabi). You can't just assume it would have been as simple as going up to Dana (whose bad side he was already on) and saying a week before the fight he needs to pull out.

IC Champion
08-28-2011, 08:02 PM
I think it's a little easy to say Dana White's just as asshole. Which is true, but even still.

Chael Sonnens crime was disclosure. He wasn't caught with elevated levels or any thing.

But GSP has jumped the Shark. He's goddam boring bro, and he refuses to finish. I'm not an AS mark, but he finishes fights. If GSP is so dominant, then why doesn't he DOMINATE?

CSL
08-28-2011, 09:03 PM
he does dominate, he is the definition of dominate, nobody has even come close to looking like they might win a fight against him since Matt Serra and I'm not sure you can say that about any other MMA fighter on Earth over the last 4 years. He just doesn't finish.

Jura
08-28-2011, 09:10 PM
Going for the kill can potentially be bad. For example that is Fedor's biggest weakness. I love the guy but he gets tunnel vision and goes all out to finish the match and we all know what can and has happened.

Some people thrive off that like Werdum, baiting people in to submit them.

Krimzon7
08-28-2011, 09:18 PM
GSP, is technically superior to every other welterweight. Nobody has come close to looking like they can beat him since...didn't shields bloody him up?

I digress. Comparing him to Anderson, I would define AS as dominant, and GSP as well, unbeaten in however long. How will history tell the tale of years of decisions? Where I come from, we've a saying: you kill ants with sledgehammers. THAT also defines dominance. Playing it safe doesn't.

No he had elevated levels.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/mma/09/20/sonnen.drugtest/index.html

If he had normal levels they never would have known he was taking testosterone in the first place since he started taking the stuff in 2008 and never failed a drug test until the Silva fight.

Next Big Thing
08-28-2011, 09:28 PM
I think GSP and Anderson can both be fairly considered dominant. Until the Shields fight I think it had been a long ass time since he lost a round. And in my opinion, GSP has faced a higher caliber of opponent consistently than Anderson. That doesn't diminish the way Anderson runs through guys because that in itself is a feat, but it is something that GSP should be cut a little slack for.

Krimzon7

I loved this part of his agent's statement:

"I promise to God, I have no spy in that camp," Kawa said. "It's completely and totally untrue. There is nothing to it at all. It's funny he said that, though, because we've heard he has had old training partners of Jon coming in to work with him. We don't care and it's kind of hilarious he's doing this. But I can guarantee you there is nothing at all that is true about this other than that I called Joe Silva after someone put out a thing on Twitter that Rampage was injured and pulling out. I wanted to know what was up, but it was no more than that. That is it."

There was nothing on twitter. Buddy needs to learn to keep his mouth shut instead of sticking his foot in it.
