View Full Version : King Jerry
Might just be me, but I m weirdly interested in where this feud w/ Otunga is going.
Dunno what it is with Lawler, his storylines always draw me in, like the ones with Miz and Cole.....
Also, hes been better as a heelish commentator lately.
I predict big tings for JL in 2011. Show King some love here.

Really enjoyed the feud with the Miz. The stuff with Cole should've ended with King winning at Mania. Really could've gone without seeing another Kiss My Foot match. This feud with McGuillihenning and Mr. Hudson could be interesting.

I see Jerry managing Not-so-Nexus leaving JR and Cole to commentary. SmackDown circa 2000

Wow, you are a big time mark aren't ya??? You post in numerous threads as if wrestling is real. I guess you think all heels are evil too huh? Seriously, grow up and realize Lawler is the past and ppl like The Miz are the future of WWE. Lawler beating Miz would've been a travesty, since Miz promotes WWE like no one else has. Don't remember Lawler going on every media source imaginable to plug WWE like the Miz as WWE Champion.

And the only thing better than a Heel Lawler on commentary is a Heel Heenan.....

There's a difference between marking out and noticing shitty booking of a character. Although it seems most here can't comprehend little details like that. And I don't go around discussing wrestling as if it''s still real and all heels are evil. If you think Christian has looked good in this fued, maybe you are the WWE mark here. After all, the vast majority of ppl here seem to be of that opinion, so it's a lost cause to explain anything logically...

I would be all for Jerry from TPWW managing Otunga & McGillicutty.
Otunga and McGillicuty need just about any manager and they'll be instantly better.
They just need something other than they've both been in Nexus...

I never watched during the era -- but I'm sure they could easily have Jerry Lawler talk about how he knew Curt Hennig, and he wants Joe Hennig to stop messing around and be the Superstar he can be. Change his name from Michael McGillicutty, and have King manage him. If you want to keep Otunga & Hennig together as a team, I'm cool with that -- but I'd like to see a dynamic where King & Hennig are sort of using Otunga's "name value" to get themselves over.

Fairly certain he didn't actually mean it like that.
Also, I'd rather be a clueless mark than a gigantic tool of a smark like you.

Also Jerry needs to stay away from the ring. Bringing him as a manager would be fine, but him wrestling needs to stop being so frequent.

Jerry has done his job well. I think teaming him up with a heel TT would be great.
AND FUCKING BAN THIS JERRY SOCK
I've said it before and I'll say it again: it is my personal opinion that Jerry "The King" Lawler does not belong in a WWE ring. Hell, it's fucking arguable that he belongs at ringside with his decades-old jokes, mostly lame commentary and underwhelming "insights." Matt Striker was KILLING IT on commentary, but they got rid of him for whatever the fuck reasons, while King is still there. The best days WWE's announce booth has seen in the past decade was when JR was sitting next to Paul Heyman - a REAL color commentator.
In the ring, Lawler is slow, boring, and his move set is stale as hell. Even his ring attire, which I understand is "classic," is fucking embarrassing to look at. His flying fist finisher is ridiculous. He's not exciting in the ring and his feuds, like this one he's apparently starting up now, take a spot away from younger, BETTER, more exciting guys who deserve TV time because they have LONGER careers ahead of them. Lawler might put guys over, like he did for Miz, but just the very idea that the 50 year old King stands a chance against the biggest up-and-comer at the time, the WWE Champion The Miz, makes Miz look worse by comparison.
I will also never forgive the WWE or King for his feud against Tazz when Tazz finally returned from his neck injury in 2000. I still fully believe that it was this angle that took all of the wind out of the Human Suplex Machine's sails and led to him never accomplishing anything he was expected to accomplish in the WWE. ECW's meanest, toughest, most bad ass star, who came into the company and whipped the undefeated Kurt Angle's ass, spent 3 months feuding with the aging King, and looking like shit for it.
(end rant)

I understand where you are coming from, Fox. Personally, I don't like King as a commentator. Well, as the bland babyface commentator he has become. That's why I'd be all for Lawler becoming a manager for some guys with careers ahead of them. Jim Ross and Michael Cole can then be left in the commentary booth -- perhaps with JBL or Matt Striker joining them.
Cool King
