I suggest you watch his match with Daniel Bryan on Superstars this week. Really nice bout. Slater is seriously the goods in the ring, and I have faith that he can be a heat machine. They just need to fine-tune his gimmick a little. No one gives a shit what sort of music he listened to as a kid. Have Slater presented as a cunning opportunist -- much smarter than his hick persona seems to let on.

I am one of the very few that actually likes Slater..... I find him better than Justin Gay-briel..... maybe not quite as good in the ring but at least he has some personality and charisma.....

I don't want to watch Wendy be carried by Danielson. We know Danielson is good.

Slater isn't a terrible wrestler I just don't feel like there's any reason I need to care about him. He slightly below a solid mid-carder skill wise and he's got a terrible look with that hair. Dunno.

For some reason when I watch him...I can actually see him be the next "Edge" in about 2 to 3 years.

I am impressed more by Heath Slater in every category except actual technical skill than I am of Daniel Bryan.

Most wrestlers will look good in the ring when working with Danielson.

I don't hate the guy, but he definitely doesn't have 'the look' of a Superstar. It's hard to take his seriously - needs to re-tune and repackage IMO.

His current theme is garbage though. Heard it for the first time on Monday and just had to laugh and totally lose most of the respect that he had gained from me.

Your second paragraph is part of the reason I LOVE Slater. The dude could dye his hair, or cut it short, or whatever -- but he has this weird look that makes it hard to take him seriously, as you said. It's like a wolf in sheep's clothing thing. You see the guy, and you think he's going to get his ass kicked, but he's got this super resilient quality to take the fight to anyone on the WWE roster. Personally, I think the guy needs a manager or valet to really help him just get that little extra kick forward. What's Rosa Mendes doing? Also, I like the way he antagonises guys on the microphone when he comes out -- but he should really be more of a pain to some guys. I'd like to see him feud with Zack Ryder, in all honesty. Have him tear Ryder's show to pieces.

Basically, I feel Slater could be presented like Samoa Joe. Only, instead of having Joe's physical build, he's got silky red hair and a hick accent.

I think Slater looked better in the ring against Daniel Bryan than a lot of other guys have, by the way. Seriously, go out of your way to watch it. Maybe I am giving the match more credit than it is due, just because I like Slater more than most, but I feel that he and Bryan tried some stuff that they haven't tried with other guys before. I think they have got great chemistry. Just two of those guys that have a better match together than you'd expect.

Slater is far from shitty, is my point, although it's easy to not see anything special in the guy. I think he "gets it," though, as he is constantly a guy the WWE is using in a pretty big way. He hasn't been booted from the main roster yet, like so many other ex-NXT guys. Plus, they've been giving him offence against guys like Ezekiel Jackson and Randy Orton.

Soon will be Heath Slater's time. I hope.

I'm a fan. Solid in the ring, has charisma but I think his character needs a bit of tweaking. Not big on the one man rock band thing. Dunno.

But he does make some great facial expressions.

I get that this doesn't really fit Heath Slater perfectly, either; but I don't know why they changed his theme from this:

<iframe width="560" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QvtkqySoei0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

It just makes him seem like a bigger deal, even if that deal is enhancing higher priority talents.

Here is Heath Slater teaming up with Justin Gabriel & Tyson Kidd to take on rivals The Usos, who were teaming with Trent Barreta. Great little six-man tag, that also highlights why I love Trent Barreta and Tyson Kidd. And Justin Gabriel. And The Usos are fun, too.

<iframe width="560" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/I9EOqRsZVrw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I can only find highlights of Slater vs. Bryan, and that doesn't do it right justice.

Missing a gold opportunity with Heath. They should totally hav his finisher be a butt bomb and they could call it the Slater Dump.

Ever since MITB I've felt his stock has gone well south give him back his old Black and White music for starters and pair him with Christian and have em rip it up in the tag division since it seems to be making a comeback.

Gabriel is gay? Or are just people saying that because he's a good looking guy?

Edit : Speaking of themes, Heath needs the X-Factor theme...

C'mon, Bryan had a match against Khali that was watchable. Bryan could have a "nice bout" with a broomstick.

Are you guys serious? Slater is shit. As for Bryan, he has good "technical" matches yes, however, seeing as how wrestling is fake, that style is boring as fuck to anyone who still watches this as opposed to UFC. You can argue with me all night, but UFC has turned a lot of wrestling fans away from the product.

I enjoyed his match with Bryan more than I enjoyed Sin Cara's match with Bryan.

For the person who mentioned Slater and Christian pairing up -- I actually wouldn't mind seeing Slater once again become a protoge to Christian. It seems Captain Charisma is going to be moving into a feud with Sheamus. Slater could help Christian get one over Sheamus, and move once again into the World Title picture -- and even help Christian beat Orton for the World Heavyweight Title.

I enjoyed La Familia when they were with Edge, and it would make sense that a heel Christian stick to Edge's template of success. A "Coalition" consisting of Heath Slater, Tyson Kidd, Alicia Fox and perhaps a returning Skip Sheffield could be pretty radical. If not Sheffield as the muscle, then maybe put Brodus Clay in that position.

I wouldn't say that I "hate" the guy but neither WWE nor Slater himself have done anything to make me care.

"One Man Rock Band" isn't a gimmick, it's a moniker. What does he even do that relates to music or being a rock star? They haven't pushed a gimmick with him at all as far as I can see.

It might be hokey but having the guy driven round in limos full of women and booze, with paparazzi taking pics, vignettes of him throwing TVs out of windows and other lewd "rock star behaviour" might not be ground breaking but at least it's something.

Better yet, have him ACT like he's a huge deal when quite clearly he's not. Stuff like signing autographs for people that clearly aren't interested, demanding VIP access to clubs/restaurants, having his own dressing room, etc.

Just do something to make "One Man Rock Band" mean something.

That's the exact kind of thing I'm talking about. I think it'd draw some pretty serious heat.

Or even just a tiny bit of heat, which would be better than no reaction or "We hate you cos you talk funny" heat.

When?

They did the A-List thing with MNM years ago but that was played pretty straight (i.e. selling them as legit "glitteratti" types), Morrison hasn't done anything like that for years.

Think I'd prefer to play for the LULZ if Slater were to do it.

As you said, it's something. It's a bit of a joke gimmick, but it'd get heat. In a way, it's like "Dashing" Cody Rhodes to me. I wasn't a big fan, because it was so one-level, but it led to better things, didn't it?

Slater actually had some interesting characters in FCW, by the sounds of it. At one point, he was "Heath Wallace Miller, Esq." He served as a mouthpiece, and I assume that he had a character where he was playing some sort of shady lawyer type. A guy with a hick accent playing a condescending "I'm actually smarter than you" gimmick is pure heat. He also had a character where he hated second generation stars -- and claimed that they had an easy way into the business, while he had to earn it. That'd be a deeper heel character that people could truly buy as believing himself to be the protagonist of his own world.

I'd personally like to see a combination of all Slater's gimmicks -- an arrogant, antagonist, self-righteous, smarter than thou "I've earned everything I have, and you might hate me, but I still think I'm amazing" heel. A chickenshit that can actually back it up when he needs to; that really goes for the psychological edge against his opponents.

Also, for some reason, I think pairing him up with Alicia Fox would be interesting. Have Slater have an impressive showing against a top babyface on SmackDown! (as he has been doing), and come up short. After the match, he's icing some wounds in the back. Alicia Fox (with re-dyed hair) comes up and tells Slater that she was impressed, and that she loves his hair. The two then become a fiery-red, confident, "look what we've got!" duo.

Just caught the match between Slater & Daniel Bryan on TV. Yes, this was the first time i was impressed by Slater (loved that inverted body slam he pulled off as a counter to Bryan's chest kicks), but the match was controlled and directed largely by Bryan.

That being said, i can't take Slater seriously largely because of his look. He doesn't seem to have a gimmick to make me care about him, and he doesn't have the personality / charisma to make me care about him without a gimmick. The hair and the tights don't help either.

BTW, is the Slater logo on his tights similar to the Slayer logo?
