View Full Version : Would you prefer Raw as a 3 hour permanent show

I know this has been brought up before (even by me)
But recently with Raw being dubbed as a Super Show and having Smackdown talent perform, it seems like a lot of good talent aren't performing.
I'm just wondering, is it time to expand the timeslot to 3 hours?
(I'm digging all the tag team and crusierweight type matches lately)

3 hours is too long. The perfect length is 2 hours and 8 minutes. That's a known fact amongst serious rasslin fans. Run along jobber.

Love how you factored in the overrun. That's dedication.

On topic, I think 3 hour RAWs should be for special occasions. Could get tiresome having it every week.
Plus, as has been said before I'm certain, it would probably devolve into silly skits or longer promos from the same core of top guys after some time.

Sometimes 3 hour shows are forced. They should be just for special shows.
Like a King of the Ring.

The idea of a 3 hour show sounds great. But think of all the extra filler they would add because it isn't a PPV. Maybe have it start at 8:30 and end at around 11:05? This should give them at least 2 or 3 extra matches.

Most would think that the extra hour would allow for the matches to go longer, but I feel that the matches would be kept at the same length and there would be more promo packages and backstage segments.....

I think video packages would run wild.
I don't know. Three hours every week may be too much but then again there's so many wrestlers on the roster that they should do stuff with especially with Superstars gone. Maybe have 2 of the 3 hours of content be the main, integral part of the show while spending 1 hour of the content exposing the younger, newer talent to the TV audiences.

It worked well for WCW for about a year
I've heard an idea they're throwing around is that they'll add a "pre show" before RAW, making it a 3 hour block.
Personally, no, I don't think they need it. They have four hours of television as it is, plus two more hours of online stuff (well, one more hour). That should be more than enough and I feel they're over-exposed as it is. The extra hour won't mean more of the lower card guys get used better, it'll just mean more time for the main angles. Which is already happening with RAW. Getting rid of the brand split there hasn't really helped SmackDown! talent, it's just given guys like Orton, Christian and Henry more TV time for their programs. And that's one reason I'm against the brands reuniting, because I realize that if it's one big roster the entire undercard gets fucks. They don't look at extra air time for pushing new guys, they look at it as time they must fill with Divas matches and long, boring segments and movie plugs. Just look at the three hour specials now. It's mostly filler, on shows they push as important. Once they utilize the two hours they have correctly, then they could think about expanding. But that's a LONG way off, if it'll ever happen, which it won't.
Honestly, they should purge like a quarter of the roster that isn't doing anything and just keep on who they intend to use and push, whether short term or long term. For example, I have my doubts they have any real plans for Primo, so throw him onto the unemployment line.

As the saying goes sometimes less is more i'd rather they cut on the existing commercial time if anything.

If was actually used for you know, Matches, then I'm for it...
If it's used to give us a extra thirty minutes of Cena, then Hell TO The No

Until the ratings dip at the times when the "new" or "underdeveloped" talent is on and they scrap it in favour of more Cena/Orton/HHH/Punk.
