Only positive was so far during the 2 games, the Bs defense have played a lot better against the Caps than during the season but the Caps goalie is stopping almost everything shot at him.

Been off TPWW for 2 weeks.....

Pens game was insane today.

Missed the entire Canucks game due to a 3 hour drive during game time. Just saw the result................arghhhhhhhhhhh!!!

I hate when an 8th seeded team rides a hot goalie. Come on Canuckleheads, where's the offense (on the scoresheet, not the shot tracker). Bring back Hodgson!!!!!! :p

Ugly defense by the Bs lead to the 3rd Caps goal but at least the Bs managed to get to Holtby tonight.

This series is nuts. The Goal tending on both sides is atrocious. I love how Philly since they are the ones behind this game are starting to goon it up after they bitched how the Pens did the other day when they were the ones trailing.

The Staals are constantly mentioned here. I love that they are mentioned so much... so are the Pyatts and Sharp. I somewhat know most of the NHL boys so it is pretty awesome.

All I can say is Thunder Bay is good for two things, drinking and hockey.

El Fangel
04-19-2012, 01:35 AM

I mean in my case we are talking about someone who when injured garnered more news then the game itself.

No I know what you are saying... Crosby is covered more than anybody 10x.

So if one of them was marketed as "the next one" by the league, you wouldn't automatically hate him because of news coverage Spilly?

I'm not denying Crosby isn't covered a shit ton more then anyone else in the league or anything. I just think it's ludicrous to have such a seething hatred for a player, just because you live in the surrounding area of his hometown. I can't imagine how people from the hometowns of the Beatles felt. Must of been pretty ragefilled places.

Never once denied the guys skills. I can understand the love as the hometown boy, I can understand he is someone to be proud of as a Nova Scotia.

The approach they have in the local media is my problem. He is forcefed and during the regular season I normally don't mind so much but during the playoffs, the fairweather fans and closet supporters come in droves and it gets really irritating.

Toronto would have been screwed even if the Bs didn't take Seguin since then they'd be missing out on Taylor Hall because everyone knew whoever Edmonton didn't take, the Bs would for the #2 pick.

Both players are very similar with the biggest difference being Edmonton's overall quality is a lot lower than the Bs.

SammyG
04-23-2012, 01:22 AM
Prolly watched 50 of this year's games in full, maybe 45. More than half, I know that. Watched the last 6-7 games of the year fully, and haven't missed a playoff game. Got into hockey kinda last year in last year's playoffs, and been way into them this year.

El Fangel

Do you know anything about their prospects and such? What about new comers Mikey Richards and Jeff Carter?

SammyG
04-23-2012, 01:42 AM
Carter's ankle is still sore and you can kinda tell, not up to speed completely yet. This layoff until the next series with St.Louis is gonna help though. Love Mike Richards, my roommate is a huge Flyers fan so I'd watch games with him sometimes when he was a Flyer and rave about him. Like having him on this squad. Quick has got to be the best American goalie in the NHL...

El Fangel
04-23-2012, 02:53 AM
Carter and Mike did well together in Philly, should see the same in LA. Richards is incredible on the PK and has scored three 3-on-5 shorthanded goals.

As for your comments on Quick, Id say Thomas might have a few words but that's about it.

I note that if the Rangers win, the Caps play the Rangers next round and the Rangers are the only team the Caps have been able to beat in the playoffs since 08 (2-0).

If the Senators win, the Caps would play the Flyers if the Panthers win and the Devils if they win. Going to go out on a limb and say they do not want to play the flyers...

Well, a 20th year of no Stanley Cup for the NHL clubs who play their home games in Canada has come and gone. a 2nd straight Lost Decade for our teams in Canada has now ended. And I'm here to say that is not okay for Canada's 7 NHL clubs to be politicked out of Stanley Cup titles without end.

At least, up till the 1980s, Canadian franchises won lots of Cups every decade. But the U.S. dollar caused Canada's economy to implode in the mid-90s, and the U.S. figured it was bad for hockey for Canadian teams to win championships at all.

So, I'm here to say it's no longer okay for anyone in the U.S. to have any knowledge about hockey. And I'm calling for the NHL to leave the U.S. for good, no matter what it does to the sport. It may sound jingoistic, but I'm fed up with the U.S. teams sponging off the Canadian franchises and living off the corporate welfare we provide and afford most of the markets in the U.S.

But then, the NHL is ONLY EVER about off-ice politics, with the on-ice product a corrupt and legally bankrupt afterthought.

I think the Los Angeles Kings look like the odds on favorite right now. It's looking more and more like they pissed around during the regular season and are now revealing their true selves.

I'm pulling for the Phoenix Coyotes since old man Doan looks like he's Phoenix's version of what Trevor Linden used to be for Canuck fans, but I think LA will take the cup.

Kings had a better record than you might think in the regular season. Also, if you look at their losses, they scored 1.5 goals or somethng (maybe less) in thoses losses AND lost most of them by 1 goal. when they added goal scoring at the trade deadline, they freed up the other scorers. Thaat what happens when you add depth.
I like their chances.

GO KINGS GO!

Although your precious Kings defeated my beloved Canucks, I do have to admit that the Kings were the better team and I wish them nothing but the best.

Unlike the past 3 years where the Canucks lost to the Blackhawks and Bruins, I wasn't even really that upset this time around.....much like in 2007 when my Nucks lost to the Ducks.

Barring any unforseen injuries to major players (as was the case with the Canucks last year), I think the Kings are the odds on favorite to win the cup. To me atleast, they look like the most complete team in the league right now.

The last team to be this deserving of a Stanley Cup victory was the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010 (as much as I don't want to admit it).

I couldn't believe it. My favorite part (lol) of the Stanley Cup is hearing the entire arena boo Buttman. I was saying to myself, "where are the f'n boos?!?!?".

L.A fans have ruined a great tradition. :p

I expected L.A to win, but was really dissapointed with the 5min major power play around the 10min mark of the first. Bernier single handedly decided the outcome of the game that early on. :(

We all said to each other after the 3 PP goals in the 1st period, "that's it, game over". Sort of spoiled the outcome of the game. Would have been nice to see another tight game with an "on the edge of your seat" ending.

I'm fed up with the NHL being in the U.S. altogether. For 13 of the last 19 seasons since 1993, U.S. home-team franchises have feasted like vultures on the corpses of the Canadian NHL home franchises to gain Stanley Cups. They are listed as follows.

1993-1994(N.Y. Rangers(Vancouver snuffed out in the Cup Finals))

1995-1996(Colorado(Vancouver snuffed out in Round 1))

1998-1999(Dallas(Edmonton snuffed out in Round 1))

1999-2000(New Jersey(Toronto snuffed out in Round 2))

2000-2001(Colorado(Vancouver snuffed out in Round 1))

2001-2002(Detroit(Vancouver snuffed out in Round 1))

2002-2003(New Jersey(Ottawa snuffed out in Conference Finals))

2003-2004(Tampa Bay(Calgary snuffed out in the Cup Finals))

2005-2006(Carolina(Edmonton snuffed out in the Cup Finals))

2006-2007(Anaheim(Ottawa snuffed out in the Cup Finals))

2009-2010(Chicago(Vancouver snuffed out in Round 2))

2010-2011(Boston(Vancouver snuffed out in the Cup Finals again))

2011-2012(Los Angeles(Vancouver snuffed out in Round 1))

If you are a hockey fan who lives in Canada who cheers for a U.S. NHL club, or ANY U.S. hockey fan, you can FOREVER KISS MY FUCKING ASS for your continued protection of BOTH the U.S. Cup Monopoly AND Gary Buttman's Job.

Do not EVER, anywhere in public, START ANY conversation about NHL affairs with ME. I have NO INTENTION of cheering ANY of the 23 U.S. NHL home franchises to titles, no matter the circumstances or talent on U.S. franchises. I will NOT apologize for taking an Anti-U.S. stance about the NHL in any chat I have about the league, and will NOT be happy till I see a Stanley Cup parade down the streets of Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver.

I want the Stanley Cup parades OUT of the U.S., the NHL the FUCK OUT of the U.S., and Gary OUT of professional sports. A Stanley Cup parade down the streets of a Canadian city means Gary's early ouster.

I want ALL SEVEN Canadian NHL home franchises to make the playoffs next year, in 7 different series. I want ALL SEVEN of those teams to win their 1st Round series. I want the ONLY U.S. home frachise to LOSE in Round 2, and cause the Stanley Cup Final to NOT be aired on NBC/in the U.S. next season.
