View Full Version : Would they really be better if they were bigger?

People are saying again if certain wrestlers werfe bigger they'd be big stars in the WWE. My question is, do you really think that they'd be as good if they were? I know that's semi confusing but here's an example, Christopher Daniels. The Fallen Angel gimmick was awesome, when he was preaching about sin. If he was 6ft 4 260 lbs (bigger than avaerage wrestler) it could have been an awesome feud with the Undertaker but would he able to hit the BME or his other impressive combo moves if he was that big? Same could be said about Austin Aries. He's got the chrisma I'm pretty sure he could get really big and buff even though he's only around 5 10. Nobody ever focus on the fact that Saturn or that Charming Gentleman from Canada who won the 2004 Royal Rumble were that tall. I know I kinda rambled, but my question is would these smaller wrestlers be as good or entertaining if they were heavier or taller?

No because adding bulk would somewhat limit what they're known to do unless they radically reinvent themselves. Rey Mysterio is an example of this as him beefing up and attempting to still wrestle like he did back in WCW has done a number on his already messed up knees. If you can get the fans to quite simply care about you, your physique means nothing.

They might not be better, but being bigger would have opened the eyes of WWE much wider..... that I guarantee.....

This. They wouldn't have had the same range athletically, but WWE's view of them would have been vastly altered and it wouldn't have mattered if they were less agile or athletic.
Yeah, I don't think anybody here is saying that being bigger = being better.
When people comment on wrestler x wouldn't be signed by/get over in WWE they're commenting on WWE's hiring/pushing policy.
Honestly, I believe it's possible to get a "small guy" over in the eyes of the WWE Universe (Rey notwithstanding). They just have to emphasise that the guy's skill in the ring can match what the big guys have in terms of power/size advantage.
That is what they should be doing with MitB holder Daniel Bryan right now!
No matter how big Chris Daniels is he'll still be boring as fuck

I'd like to know why you think that.

because he's quite boring. He's an excellent wrestler bell to bell, pretty bland in everything else. That's not his fault, unlike a lot of other small guys, he's at least attempted to stand out a bit, create a character etc, he just doesn't have "it". "Good hand" though.
