Welcome to another edition of "Before or After", but be warned, for this edition is Rated R. That's right, we're talking about Edge this week. So tell me, was Edge better before or after WrestleMania 21, where he won the first-ever Money in the Bank ladder match?

Good choice. It's a tough one, since I thought he was always a solid competitor and character, but I definitely think after WM21 was better. My personal favorite year for him is 2006 when he was with Lita and the Rated R Superstar gimmick started taking off. I didn't really like La Familia and the Vickie stuff though. I liked him but not the storyline.

Shoulda been before or after he had sexytime with that skank Lita. Anyway Christian is better than Edge.

Biased based on E&C... but I think he was better after.

Was actually gonna go that route, but it all happened within a few months of each other, so I didn't think it would matter that much. As for your Christian > Edge point, it makes me think wonder where Edge's career would have gone if not for the "sexytime" with Lita. I do feel that before he left and went to TNA, his feud with Cena, and subsequent main event push, could have been something special.

After.

The Rated R character was one of the best things for him especially how well it matched up as the complete opposite of Cena's "SuperCena" or super face character. It also made Raw become a bit more interesting than just being only about Cena.

His tag team career before was great but he managed to have just as great of a career after the split and rise to the top as champion for Raw and eventually as the main focus of Smackdown.

After. The Rated R character made him the bigger than life superstar that he's remembered as today.

After. He is one of the greatest tag team wrestlers of all time, but the Rated-R era made him a legend.

I loved the tortured soul gimmick. I loved the Brood. I loved E & C. After we won King of the Ring and became a face, I wasn't really feeling it too much. There's a big chunk there that I don't even remember. Maybe he was injured? Anyway, when he came back as a face and won the tag titles with Benoit, I was unimpressed. Loved the "LET'S GO SYLVAIN" chants in Montreal (yes, that's not Edge, but he was in the fucking match, OK?). When he first won Money in the Bank, I still didn't give a fuck. When he cashed it in, it was kinda awesome though, for some reason. His feud with Cena was pretty cool. His feud with Hardy was pretty cool for like ten minutes. Nice heel run in general all the way up through Wrestlemania 24. Whenever it was he turned face though, he got super lame. Abhorrent, really. So much so that I wasn't really sad that he retired.

Those are my stream of conscience thoughts on the career of Edge. Reviewing them, it's hard to say whether I prefer before or after because there were things on both sides that I really liked and some that were really fucking wack. I'll get back to you.

Tough...I liked his feuds and matches he had before, but thought I had a better heel persona after.

I'd have to say before by the slightest of margins.
Despite Edge really establishing himself as a main-eventer after, I really enjoyed E&C vs the Hardys more than any of their singles work.
In addition, Edge's work with Vickie was cringe-inducing, and his time spent as a face just didn't suit him at all.

So yeah, before.

Before.

Mainly because I am "weird" and did not care for him from the period where he won MitB until almost the end of his Rated R-Superstar run with Lita, where I somehow grew to like the gimmick. Then, again, I did not care for him during his story with Vickie.

Did not care for his "SPEAR SPEAR SPEAR" face run either. Was a fan of his last heel run on RAW. Then he went back to being a face and was involved in a ridiculous Kane feud.

I loved when Edge was out to end all of the bullshit right before he came back to SmackDown, where he beat up the laptop and called out faces and heels.
