Lil Wayne mentioned Cena in one of his mixtape freestyles too. Maybe Cena does have some cross over appeal into popular culture that warrants his winning a title every other month.

Jesus Christ, people have been doing that FOREVER in sports. Much like when that Hockey player in Pittsburgh "mimicked" CM Punk's go to sleep. No one cares about wrestling except kids and the IWC. To say actual athletes mimic these guys is very laughable.

Yeah, well, the Rangers are now leading 9-2, so...that's that.

It seems to me that athletes who mimic a wrestler's signature pose or taunt is said to be fans of pro wrestling and therefore care about pro wrestling.

I know Prince Fielder has the WWE Spinner Title and was holding it up when they won the Division and the ALDS.

That Cena 'you can't see me' hand gesture has been a gesture to signify stupidity in Germany for many years. Maybe in other countries too, I dunno.

Alfonso Soriano has been doing it for a while, and there was a segment on ESPN or MLB where they talked about it.

A few years ago, many Cincinnati Reds players would wear nWo Wolfpac shirts under their jerseys, and even give each other the hand gesture. I think it was Sean Casey who even walked up to the plate to the Wolfpac theme song.

What's "laughable" to me is people who actually watch wrestling and think that it's ridiculous that any professional athlete might do the same thing.

That Arron Asham bit had nothing to do with CM Punk though, I'm willing to bet.

I remember Brett Favre did the crotch chop before, and a ton of people used it as their walkup theme, or as a closer. I remember going to Kansas City over 3 days and I heard like 11 songs related to wrestling in those days.

Jason Giambi used the "NWO Wolfpac" theme when he played in Oakland, and Matt Stairs used "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's theme.
