So, I was watching the best of WCW Monday Nitro DVD and it really reminded me how great some of the WCW undercard was, especially some of the cruisers and smaller/faster/technical guys like Jericho, Eddie, etc.

What are some of your guys favorite lesser knowns from WCW that weren't in WWE after the purchase, guys that had some of the best WCW matches, characters/gimmicks (what little character dev/time they had), feuds, etc? Feel free to post videos too.

I always loved Psycosis for some reason. Had some good matches, cool moves and always loved his look/outfit/mask and the character (or lack thereof).

I really thought Mark Jindrak and Mike Sanders were gonna be huge stars

Sanders was one of my faves during the dying days of WCW

Always thought Natural Born Thrillers would be gold, especially Jindrak and O'Haire, oh and Mike Sanders. Always like Screamin' Norman.

Until Kevin Nash broke his streak, he's the only one that could take Bill Goldberg to the limit, which explained why he had so many matches against him.

This. I really loved them for some reason.

Also, when Scott Steiner became "Big Poppa Pump" and came out to do those promos in the ring...that was awesome.

The Macho Man and this Hulk Hogan guy have something about them...

Berlyn was a great idea for a character (superior german athlete), Alex Wright was a good wrestler, it just didnt fit together. They should have gotten this guy to play Berlyn

(Hell, they were already picking up WWE's scraps)

I thought the Jung Dragons were awesome, and who would have thought from 3 Count Shannon Moore would be the one still going strong.

Blitzkrieg. No talk, just action.

I'll second Mike Sanders. He was awesome on the mic for such a young guy and I still wonder why he never showed up in WWE or TNA.

Sean O'Haire was always a very promising guy. He had a great look and was awesome in the ring for a big man. His gimmick in WWE looked like it was going to be awesome, but that went to shit pretty quickly. But I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

hahaha Nash did an interview a few years ago with Scott Hudson about how much shit they got in cause they were pissed drunk. Hall ended up getting forced into rehab.

Also, I firmly believe that the WCW Crusierweights were who got the crowds up and going for many of WCW's shows for a WHILE...especially the PPV's:

Something about Nash nearly paralyzing himself jumping into the water as well, if we heard the same interview?

I'd go with Sean O'Haire. Also include Billy Kidman (during the Flock / especially post-Flock days).

To stay on topic, i was a mark for Prince Iaueka (sp?)... And Rick Steiner.

Yeah me too for some reason...

DDP as his original U.S. Title level gimmick, from the crowd into the crowd etc was great.

But if you want to talk undercard Jericho is your man. Imagine if they pushed him earlier and he didn't go to WWE. Might be a whole different ball game today.

I can't believe there has not been more Chris Jericho discussion in this thread. As a chickenshit, but talented and charismatic undercard heel the man is unrivaled.

XL
10-19-2011, 05:29 AM
Because the thread starter acknowledges how great Jericho was and asks us to discuss "lesser known" WCW guys?

Mr. Nerfect
10-19-2011, 05:45 AM
That would require posters on TPWW to follow the question posed by the original post. When does that ever happen?

Gertner
10-19-2011, 09:55 AM
My favourite lessor known character was Hollywood Hogan

lol he really didn't have a lot. He juiced like crazy and got bloated after his great feud with Flair.,
