What are some of those 'greatest movies of all time' types that you've never seen?
I've never seen any of the Godfather movies, nor have I seen all of Titanic (I tried watching it twice, but both times fell asleep in the first half hour... Not because it was boring, just me being tired at the time).
Feel like we did this thread not so long ago. That said...
Apocalypse Now
Blade Runner
Brokeback Mountain
Casino
Raging Bull
Requiem For A Dream
Scarface
Taxi Driver
Those are just the ones I own on DVD. Although, not all of those qualify as 'Greatest Movies of All Time'.
Add to that Godfather Trilogy, Schindler's List, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Seven Samurai, Casablanca, Once Upon A Time In The West, Indiana Jones, It's A Wonderful Life, Sunset Boulevard, Dr Strangelove, North By Northwest, Citizen Kane, Spirited Away, Vertigo, City Lights, Amelie and Paths of Glory.
All of those are from the IMDb Top 50.

You own them on DVD and haven't seen them?
Yes. Haven't got around to watching them (despite owning some of them for nearly 10 years!). Probably should sort that out.
From what you listed in the first post, I only haven't seen Brokeback Mountain and I'm not really looking forward to fixing that.
That was bought as part of a "bulk purchase" when the local Blockbuster closed down.
On top of the films already named, I also have the following yet to watch:
American Graffitti
American Gangster
Assassination of Jesse James
Collateral
Hustle & Flow
3 seasons of Mad Men
:-\
Assasination of Jesse James blows.
Expected a fuckin' western and all I got was a bitchfest.

Also, not a horror movie fan. So I have never seen pretty much any of those. With the exceptions of Carrie and Poltergeist. Which I had to watch for class.
Gonna go from the IMDB top 20.

I've had them "downloaded" for ages, but every time I contemplate watching it I'm always "Ehhhhh.... do I really want to watch a movie this long right now?" and the answer is always no.
Yeah, the ones in my collection that I'm yet to see are mostly "heavy" films that I'd have to concentrate on. Tend to stick a comedy on if I just need something to watch.
Shawshank Redemption
12 Angry Men
Inception
Fight Club
Xero, you need to get on those. 12 Angry Men is probably my favourite film.

I've seen bits and pieces from the Godfather trilogy but never a whole movie from either of the 3 films.
Most of unseen films in the Top 100 from IMDB I have no real interest in seeing besides:
The Usual Suspects
Citizen Kane
Toy Story 3
Das Boot
Triple A

I have seen liek 20 min "chunks" of that and Unforgiven the Alien movies and stuff but never the entire movies.
How the fuck would I know?
As in "How do I know they're great movies if I've never seen them?".
We're talking about movies that are universally regarded as "great movies".

True to my word, I have just finished watching The Godfather Part I. Thought it was decent. Definitely overrated. Felt like it could have been a much better movie if parts of it were cut, condensed, and tweaked.

Ok, watching Godfather Part II right now. Am I missing something here? Are there supposed to be no subtitles in this thing? Its one thing when there is the occasional exchange in Italian with no subtitles, but for several long scenes to not be in English and have no subtitles seems weird.
Emperor Smeat
11-06-2011, 10:09 PM
If your watching it from a dvd or on-demand stream, the film and I think the series itself has a lot of scenes with no subtitles. Checked on Google and it appears to have been done deliberately for creating a mood or the use of the translator in some scenes.
If its a download or dvd rip, then whoever did the ripping forgot to set the subtitle track to English.

11-06-2011, 10:20 PM
I'm thinking it has to be this file I downloaded. No way all those scenes are gonna be non-English with no way of knowing for sure what was going on.
Also, it cut off at the 2 hour mark.

11-06-2011, 10:22 PM
Will probably now have to wait until next weekend to get a better copy of it.
So far, I have not been too impressed by Part II. Last hour had better step it up.
Part II is the best of the series.

According to IMDB's Top 50 (http://www.imdb.com/chart/top), the only ones on the list I have seen are:
The Godfather
The Godfather: Part II
Inception
Goodfellas
Forrest Gump
Toy Story 3

Downloaded and watched the rest of The Godfather Part II. I guess those parts are not supposed to have subtitles, cause this one did not have them either. Which is the stupidest thing in the world.
I downloaded a separate subtitles file and just turned it on whenever I got to one of those scenes (went back and watched the ones I had seen too. Make much more sense when you can understand what they say).
Anyways, the last hour did "step it up".
Tomorrow I will watch Part III.

Star Wars 2-6. Phantom Menace put me off watching any of the others.
Lord of the Rings trilogy. Read the book as a youngster and want to keep those images.
Godfather 1-3
I could go on. I don't watch many.

Should watch Star Wars 4-6 at least. Way different than 1-3.

Yeah, I think if Episode 1 came out first, even most of the rabid fanbase would have passed on the rest of the series.
Though if 1 came out first, Episodes 4-6 would probably be on par with Michael Bay's movies.
Tanq, you suck.
