When did Hayes first start coming out to Rock & Roll? From what I know the first ones to come out to rock music was Leroy Brown, coming out to "Bad Bad Leroy Brown."
On a side note, Junkyard Dog is said to have gotten his ring name from that song.

Pretty much anyone with a flamboyant persona owes a debt to Gorgeous George. He used Pomp and Circumstance (same theme Randy Savage used).

I don't think it became widespread to use entrance music until the Freebirds started doing so years later though. Then it really caught on. Even in WWE, I still remember contracted 'name' guys without entrance themes as late as 1995 (when Backlund finally succumbed and got some entrance music).

The Freebirds debuted a year before Leroy did.

Gorgeous George.
Actually, Macho Man himself stole Gorgeous George's theme music, "Pomp and Circumstance".
