View Full Version : Big Show's KO punch

Am I the only one who loathes this a finishing move?

Every time I see it becomes really hard to suspend my disbelief.

Throughout the course of any normal match you'll see guys trading fists left, right and centre, though still needing something special to finally put their opponent away...

And yes, I get that 'Show is a big bastard and his punch does more harm than most normal wrestlers, but still, I always find myself getting more annoyed than is perhaps necessary that he doesn't just walk in the ring, punch a dude out and have done with the match.

And sure, you could come back and say "well why don't all wrestlers just walk in, hit their finishing move and leave?"

But then it's a lot harder for a guy to hit say an Attitude Adjuster or an RKO than it is just to smack some dude in the face. Trust me, that's how I lost every fight I ever got in :P

I think "loathe" might be a little dramatic

Still irritates the crap out of me though :P

No seriously, I have this same problem.

Walk in, WMD, walk out. Show's matches should take about 8 seconds, including the three count and a big yawn.

As a lifelong Shawn Michaels fan, I feel it would be a bit hypocritical for me to say the KO Punch is stupid. So I'm not gonna.

Yeah, the KO Punch is stupid. He doesn't even try to make it seem like he's throwing it hard.

Five. Knuckle. Shuffle.

And before that, a People's Elbow.

We're getting that in the same ring these days.

The Worm.

I'm numb to moves that are played up as deadly, and quite frankly the Big Show knocking you out with a big punch is the most realistic of them all.

They're all shit.

Was The Rock the first wrestler to have that kind of a move? You know, having the opponent lay out in the middle of the ring, do some kind of a taunt, run the ropes, etc?

I'm not saying it's not realistic, in fact I'd say it's *because* it's a realistic move that it bugs me he doesn't just use it right off the bat.

Not like Cena can start a match by saying "hey dude, just lie on the floor whilst I run the ropes a couple of times and wave my arms about a bit"

Though I do agree with you that moves like Five Knuckle Shuffle (how the hell do they get a way with that in WWEPG?), Rock Bottom et al are bloody stoopid.

You just described Hulk Hogan's finishing move.

There were a few matches where the commentary team played up that Show had to set up the punch before he went for it, he tried a few times early on and the opponents avoided it etc.. But the same argument could be made for HBK,Orton and a few other guys too

I remember laughing out loud when I found out Hogan's finisher was called ATOMIC Leg Drop.

I prefer him using the Chokeslam as a finisher, KO punch should be an alternative move.

He needs to go back to hitting the Chokeslam like he did in his WCW\very early WWE days, nowadays it just has about the same elevation as Kanes Chokeslam, compared to what it was in the video below, you'd be forgiven for thinking Kane weighed about 150lbs max.

The Rock won with the People's Elbow as a fuck you to the opponent. Like he beat you so bad that he could pin you after minutes after a Rock Bottom.

It was like a cherry on top of the sundae.

Not really. Your attempts to deflect your emo comments by accusing me of bitching for simply correcting your retardation fall flat.

But you did try, and for someone as "special" as you, that's pretty....Good, I guess.

Yeah okay.

Funny thing is, you don't even realize you're a parody of yourself. You come in here, say I've been bitching(?!), and dodge any reply that even remotely exposes your stupidity.

It's officially a gimmick at this point. Be well.
