Brodus probably died a few weeks ago and they're trying everything they can to cover it up.

Emperor Smeat

Wouldn't be surprised if the debut was just part of a giant ruse by him phoning in all that excitement to make the crowd think he actually is a face even though the videos hinted more of a heelish character. Had a bunch of spots where he could have broken the ruse but kept it going to trick the crowd.

 at Brodus debut becoming the running gag for Raw now.

Would be even more hilarious if Jericho got so caught up in working the crowd, they got word to him that they were out of time for his segment and he just had to leave before the planned promo. lol

Although his return made no sense, and didn't connect with the videos what so ever, Jericho is brilliant.

the videos said end of the world, things will never be the same again. So, there are your connections.

Gonna come out next week and call them all hypocrites, sycophants, and parasites. In that order.

They hated him when he left, but now that he came back, all of a sudden everybody loved him and he could make them do whatever he wanted.

CSL
01-02-2012, 11:59 PM
the bottom line on the whole thing really is simply the fact that everybody will tune in next week to see what he does next, where it's going, for answers basically. job done really

The videos were a little wacky only because it's probably true what was said, that they were making them "neutral" so they could use them for Undertaker if they didn't come to an agreement with Jericho.

Pretty weird RAW, but I enjoyed it for the most part.

-It seems like they could be setting up for Bryan to be that really annoying heel. I think he'll cheat on SD to go over Show, or just get counted out. Nice match with Cody too.

-Jericho's return was awesome, and it was impressive how he kept the crowd going the entire time. Was hoping for a promo, but it was different and fun. I guess we'll have to wait next week.

-Punk/Ziggler was a good TV match. Obviously wasn't their best since they are planning a PPV match between the two, but it was good. The ending sucked though, especially how Ziggler and Vickie wanted the countout. Why? Do they not know the rules of a title match? Stupid, but regardless, it was a good match.

-Big Show seems to be another wrestler though who doesn't know the rules, as he seemed shocked that he was DQ'd after using a steel chair.

-The main event as a match was good, and put over Ryder nicely since he didn't tap to Swagger. But, that ending with Kane just felt so lame to me. "Ryder's being dragged into the abyss!" Just reeked of TNA.

-So yeah, good show, great to see Y2J back, but just had some strange things on it that stood out to me.

Glad they've finally toned down Michael Cole. I noticed it a bit last week, but tonight he actually put over Zack Ryder

MoFo
01-03-2012, 12:10 AM
Really liked it (missed the main event tho)

Punk v Zigs was a solid match, digging the Miz/Truth stuff (didnt want them to split up in the 1st place though) and was so hyped for the Jericho reveal. Very well done with the 'earthquake' stuff and VP

Havent read the thread, but IMO it went a bit overboard on the crowd milking. Wish hed of said something. Thought the same about Taker/Trips last yr too.

The promos were never supposed to obviously connect to Jericho. However, if you really think about it, they, at the very least, loosely link to Jericho and are pretty clear that it's going to be a "different" Jericho.

The segment itself was great. He had them like putty in his hands at first, then the crowd slowly started to turn. I'd love to see him continue this for a few weeks, where he plays an over the top face character but the crowd ultimately turns on him. It reminded me a lot of his WCW character where he was so into himself, only this time it's because he knows he has control of the fans (CONTROL, by the way, was the title of one of the videos - CONNECTION!) and is setting it as a ruse. Honestly, I wouldn't have had it any other way. Way better than the standard come back as a legit face, cut a sickeningly sweet promo then turn heel over the course of a few weeks after turning on someone to show that he never changed. And changes things up from him coming right back as heel Jericho.

As for the rest of RAW, I enjoyed it. It wasn't the best, but there was enough there that it felt like it had a good flow and there wasn't any absolute shit on the show outside of the Divas match. It definitely starts the set up for the Rumble and establishes Barrett as a contender for winning the Rumble.

I wouldn't be entirely surprised if we don't see Jericho again for a few weeks...maybe not even til the Rumble or the night after.

Point being he'll get a huge cheer again upon his arrival at which point he can properly heel out on the microphone and explain himself.

Guys, I'm excited as the rest of you that Jericho is back, but if the only way they explain the it begins videos is that they were just a swerve, then that's pretty lame. And don't tell me that it worked because it got people to turn in. That's not clever.

Like I said before, I'm reserving judgment on the whole return until we see where they go with it. I doubt they're gonna make concrete statements like "she told me to return" and then leave it at that without any followup. So let's seeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Xero
01-03-2012, 12:43 AM
Oh I think there will be an explanation. But I don't think there will be literal connections, like the girl is Stephanie or something.

Going back to that post I found a week or two ago, this makes complete sense. The girl is Punk - Punk, who has become an uber face - and Jericho is coming back to reclaim what is his - his spotlight, his title. In essence, Jericho was mocking Punk for turning into what he has. He was showing him "how it's done".

Obviously that's just speculation, but the videos don't need a literal meaning to actually connect and make sense.

Blakeamus
01-03-2012, 12:45 AM
The only thing I see that had anything to do with a "swerve" is him coming down and not talking on the mic. Which everybody expected him to do. The videos I'm sure will become clearer as the weeks go by. You know that they start turning shit up towards the Rumble and the Road to Wrestlemania.

Yeah, I read something connecting Punk to the girl. She was looking over the boys shoulder, reading what he was writing and such as a reference to Punk stealing Jericho's ideas. Then she chased him out of the school at one point.

That reception he got was pretty amazing too, considering how awful today's crowds can be.

Chris Jericho proved tonight he's great. He had the crowd cheering wildly for him, and within minutes, he had them booing him. Very few people can do that.

The heat he's going to get next week (assuming he shows up next week, of course) is going to be crazy.

After watching Jericho again, I was thinking... it would be cool if they go with an exaggerated Rock gimmick. Where Jericho literally thinks he's so huge that all he has to do is show up and do the bare minimum. He doesn't even turn heel, he just stays clueless because his ego makes him believe he can just show up when he feels like it and play to the crowd, collect a paycheck and leave.

After tonight's WWE RAW Supershow in Memphis, Kane came back from underneath the ring and fought with John Cena. Cena knocked him out of the ring and announced a Memphis Street Fight.

The dark main event saw Jerry Lawler defeat Michael Cole in the Street Fight. Cole tried to leave but Daniel Bryan came down and brought him back to Lawler. Lawler pulled Cole's pants off and beat him around the ring before hitting a piledriver and fist drop for the win.

And btw the girl in the 2012 video, lots and lots of people are throwing Stephanie's name around as his new manager and sidekick. In the video, the boy says, "SHE holds the mystery of my rebirth and when I beckon HER, I'll return to claim what is mine."

What the WWE should have done to really make this a super dooper troll of epic proportions is have Lenny Lane come down and act like he is Jericho. Do this for a few weeks and when the real Jericho returns he's wearing a mask. He says the fans don't deserve to see him then he leaves. Until 2013.
