Odd.

I assume this was supposed to be HHH's "if I can't have the title, YOU sure as hell can't."

Watch them have a "loser retires" match next week...

Nowhere Man
05-04-2004, 12:17 AM
So they spend the whole night talking about how Benoit is "for real" and all, and then they have a fantastic match end with Benoit being unable to beat a guy who retired 7 years ago. But then again, we can't have a World Title match without Hunter now, can we?

Meh. At least we get Benoit/Jericho somewhere down the road. And next week should be shweeeet.

I get it. Benoit jobs to HHH at the next PPV. HHH goes off to make movies and takes the title with him so no one can have title matches without him.

05-04-2004, 12:24 AM
Even though I predicted it, SONOFABITCH!!!!!!!! Once the ref went down, i figured HHH would interfere and wouldn't you know it. Man, I wanted HBK to pull it off and he was so damn close. Thank you very much HHH :foc:

Volchok
05-04-2004, 12:27 AM
I think the original plan was to have HBK win and make a heel turn.. but( no offense ) Jericho slipped up and said HBK was gonna win so they changed it... they shoulda kept it.. the Jericho/HBK match at WM was kick ass...

loopydate
05-04-2004, 01:11 AM
I think you guys are giving WWE writers too much credit.

They did NOT change the ending of the most hyped RAW main event in months just because Jericho ****ed up during the Highlight Reel. Benoit was supposed to win all along, Y2J just misspoke.

Boondock Saint
05-04-2004, 01:13 AM
Yeah I agree with the loop

ItsTimeForAChange
05-04-2004, 01:13 AM
For whoever asked earlier for full results, here you are:

Match Results:
Shelton Banjamin, Tajiri & Edge defeated Triple H, Batista & Randy Orton
Rob Conway defeated the Hurricane
Kane defeated Steven Richards
Gail Kim defeated Victoria in a Non Title Match
Chris Benoit defeated Shawn Michaels

There was also a Kane/Lita thing in the boiler room, with Matt Hardy rescuing her after being on Jerichos highlight reel, Jericho got his ass kicked by Tomko, Christian and Trish and will be facing Christian in a steel cage match next week, They showed Eugene and Regal training, with Eugene kicking Regals ass, and Triple H interfered in the main event, pedigreeing Micheals.

Man, why don't they put as much effort into make SD! as solid of a show up and down as RAW is?

Wondermouse
05-04-2004, 01:23 AM
Because the Raw TV Contract is coming up, while SD has already been renewed.

RGWhat316
05-04-2004, 01:54 AM
Well, besides the ending, all-in-all, another good RAW. I definitely enjoy RAW more than SD. Good 6-man tag to open it up, disappointed in Shelton's new music, but impressed with Tajiri, he was on it. Yet, I still can almost hear a pin drop every time Tajiri comes out since he doesn't seem to get too much of a reaction. Was shocked at Edge picking up the win, can't really remember the last time Orton jobbed.

Does anyone know the official count of Face/Heel turns Vince has done? He seemed facish tonight, giving props to Phoenix.

Kinda interested in where this Lita/Kane thing is gonna eventually go. History has shown us that Lita will eventually go with Kane.

Eugene training was interesting. He might not always know what hes doing, but can actually wrestle. And of course HHH had to interfere, yet his nose still was almost the size of Regal's, even if it was a bottle.

I continue to be impressed with HBK, as the man can still get it done. He can put on a 5 star match every single month. Really thought he was gonna win it. Even more surprised that Benoit did the blading, and Shawn had a clean face the whole match. I was even laughing when Benoit was getting booed. As JR or King said it, back in the US, HBK would get the upper hand with the fans, and they did, slowly but surely. Disappointed with the outcome, but maybe putting Jericho into the title picture will help give us a little more variety in the weeks to come.

Hmm, Raw kind of seemed flat to me besides the 6-man tag, the Christian/Jericho segment and the main event even though the ending was so shitty. I'm really looking forward the Christian vs. Jericho cage match....now if only they go back to the old "escape" rules and we could have a match of the year canidate.

The Kane/Hardy feud isn't looking good to me at all....I want both of them to be going over other people to get back some credibility, not feuding with each other.

#1-norm-fan
05-04-2004, 03:21 AM
Ugh. First they have HBK win the title a few months ago and then have the decision reveresed, now this. If HBK never wins the title again and all this leads to nothing, I will be pissed.

That being said, bleh. The match was amazing, HBK didn't lose cleanly, I'm not 100% disappointed. Just PLEASE let Benoit turn heel now *Prays*

Vega

Great main event.

The Eugene training was pretty entertaining.

My roomate suggested that it will turn out that Matt Hardy paid Kane to do that to Lita so he could get her back, that would be a swerve.

I was thinking the same thing but I doubt they would use Kane like to help a Lita-Matt Hardy feud. It would totally ruin his credibility.

I think the HBK/Benoit ending is going to help set up a ladder rematch at Bad Blood, because they're going to say that neither Benoit or HBK got a clean win over each other, so they're either going to settle it in a cage match or a ladder match at Bad Blood.

Fox
05-05-2004, 12:30 AM
Great RAW, great main event, bullshit ending. I'm sure it's just a set up for some kind of a rematch at Bad Blood, but still, they could've done better than that.

As far as Bad Blood goes, I'm hoping they're blowing off the Y2J/Christian feud on RAW this Monday, and maybe we'll see Jericho vs. Benoit or Jericho vs. Benoit vs. HBK. Hell, I'd even like to see a fatal fourway elimination between Jericho, Benoit, Michaels and Triple H.

#1-norm-fan
05-05-2004, 03:07 AM
No!!!! HHH, HBK, and Benoit all in the main event in any way shape or form is BAD. I don't care if you add Chris Jericho or build a time machine and bring in an in-his-prime Bret Hart as the 4th man in the match. HBK-Benoit-HHH again would be a BAD BAD idea.

Everyone keeps saying Y2J misspoke, does anyone ever think he didn't exactly misspeak as in giving away the ending, but perhaps as in saying he believes Benoit doesn't have a chance against HBK. Seeing as he earlier refrenced being asked who was going to win it. Just a thought.

Actually, thats what I was thinking when I was watching it. I thought he was making it appear that he ****ed up, but in the way of just saying whom he secretly thought would win, not giving away the planned ending or anything.

Monday was hyped huge people, theres no way they scraped whatever they had planned because of a slip up on Jerichos Highlight reel. What happened was supposed to happen.

i'm under the same mind set too. I don't think it was a slip up either

Holy shit. If this Jericho, Benoit thing happens. Benoit will turn heel. And I will have been right all along about Beniot turning heel.

Azriel
05-06-2004, 12:13 PM
I think at Bad Blood, you're not going to see Benoit defend his world title. Most likely, you'll see him and Edge defend the titles, if this Michaels/HHH match happens, because Jericho will probably face Tyson.

SeanMC

Just saw raw last night as im in the uk, wasn't to impressed with the show, too many f-ucking commercials! The HBK/Benoit match was ok, but two f-ucking commercial breaks in a world title match? Give me a break, btw lol@ y2j messing up, i was thinking that he might've screwed the ending up and from then on i was thinking 'oh god hbk is gonna win', but i think he just misspoke.
