View Full Version : Smackdown spoilage
Dark Match:
* Ryback Skip Sheffield beat three local wrestlers in a handicap match.
WWE Smackdown (Airing Friday)
* SmackDown opens with Big Show. He's not happy about injuring AJ Lee and considers retiring. World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan comes out and cuts a promo on Show.
Bryan ends up slapping Show and telling him to leave. Show got pissed off and shoved Bryan into the corner before getting in his face. Mark Henry came out and taunted them about the cage match at the Royal Rumble. Teddy Long ends up coming out and making Show vs. Henry for tonight and Wade Barrett vs. the returning Randy Orton.
* They hype Orton's return with a video package.
* Cody Rhodes defeats Justin Gabriel with Cross Rhodes.
* Backstage segment with Teddy Long and his assistant Santino Marella. Santino talks about a possible tag team with Yoshi Tatsu called Santoshi. Drew McIntyre comes in and Teddy says he's about done. McIntyre vs. Sheamus is made.
* Sheamus beat Drew McIntyre. Drew actually got a babyface pop and controlled most of the match but Sheamus connected with the Brogue kick for the win.
* WWE Tag Team Champions Epico and Primo beat Santino Marella and Yoshi Tatsu in a non-title match.
* Backstage segment with Mark Henry and Daniel Bryan. Bryan says he respects Henry and knows he can beat Big Show tonight. Bryan tells Henry to go teach Show a lesson.
* Wade Barrett came to the ring and talked about Randy Orton returning. Orton made hsi return to a huge ovation from the crowd. Orton attacked Barrett and beat him up. Officials came down to break the fight up but couldn't. Some of the wrestlers come down and break things up while Barrett runs off. Orton hits RKO's on everyone who came to help - Tyler Reks, Curt Hawkins, one of The Usos and Trent Baretta.
* Hunico beat Ted DiBiase. After the match, Hunico and Camacho beat down DiBiase and worked on his injured wrist.
* Brodus Clay defeated Alex Riley in a good performance by Clay. Riley tried to win a dance off before the match.
* Aksana defeated Natalya in a quick squash via roll-up. After the match, Natalya attacked Aksana and locked her in the Sharpshooter. Tamina ran down and made the save with a Samoan Drop and Superfly Splash on Natalya.
* Big Show beat Mark Henry by count out. Daniel Bryan watched from ringside. They went at it and Henry stayed out to get counted out. Bryan attacked Big Show with a chair and they ended up fighting in the ring. Bryan locked in the LaBell Lock but Show broke free and chokeslammed him and hit the knockout punch.

I'm kind of hoping Bryan keeps the belt til wrestlemania now, so We can see him face Orton in a good 20-30 minute match. Really want to see what Bryan can do with the WWE style when given the time he had in ROH, but not against guys like Henry and Show.
I think his heel character is a definite improvement, but I still don't see why everyone is stroking the dude's cock. His promos seem a little forced, and awkward. They aren't terrible, but they aren't particularly good either.

Get the feeling that them bringing Orton back on Smackdown rather than as a surprise return at the rumble means he's not going to win the rumble. I was about 65/35 on thinking it would be Jericho/Orton winning. Now I'm about 95/5 in favour of Jericho.
#BROKEN Hasney

Kind of hoping it's not Jericho just for being obvious after the return/speech. Hoping the end of the world as we know it is accomplished by different, more awesome means.

Ryback is his old name in development. He also went under it last week against Tyson Kidd in the SD dark match so he's coming back as it I think.
I'm gonna watch just for this, "Orton hits RKO's on everyone who came to help - Tyler Reks, Curt Hawkins, one of The Usos and Trent Baretta". But I can't help but feel like an opportunity was wasted in not having him have a surprise return at the Royal Rumble.

I figure Jericho will win the rumble. He will heel it up on raw and make punk think he's coming after him. Then hell face it up on smackdown and act like he's going after Bryan. He then wins the elimination chamber and gets two title shots just like when he won the undisputed title.

Sounds like a pretty decent show.
My ideal booking for WrestleMania, at the moment, is for Jericho to win the Royal Rumble and to hint that he's going after CM Punk and the WWE Title. Daniel Bryan wants Elimination Chamber off, while SmackDown! contestants fight in a Chamber to decide who gets to face Bryan at WrestleMania, but Teddy Long gives a shot to Randy Orton at the PPV. Wade Barrett wins the Elimination Chamber to become Daniel Bryan's #1 Contender -- but he then interferes in the World Heavyweight Title match, helping Bryan retain (because he's dodging Orton).
Teddy Long adds Orton into the mix officially for Mania, and we get Daniel Bryan defending against Wade Barrett (who he's upset with for thinking to be a push-over, and given their Nexus past) and Randy Orton (who he is upset with because he claims to be the rightful champion). Also, the tensions between Orton and Barrett are pretty obvious. I believe that is the strongest main event SmackDown! can put forward at this point in time.
But I still can't completely throw away my preference for Jericho going after Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton finding a way (perhaps through the Royal Rumble) of challenging Orton. Bryan vs. Jericho was the first we saw of Daniel Bryan in the WWE, and would be a damn great match. Punk vs. Orton is a rematch from Mania last year, was a damn good match, told a fantastic story, and the dynamic between the two men has changed entirely. Throw in Stone Cold Steve Austin as the Special Guest Referee, and I honestly believe that would be the main event at any other WrestleMania.

finally got around to posting in here, finally not hungover! lol...anyways u went to this show, and let me just say, it was amazing..i was 5 rows from the ring on the camera side, and it was just simply amazing. Ryback is a monster, and he was pretty over with the tucson crowd. overall the crowd has hot, and they only had 3 sections tarped off, which is unusual here in tucson, usually they have alot more. so pretty packed house. i also realized my buddy looks like cm punk, and people kept calling him that last night, was pretty funny. my highlights were getting a high five from lilian garcia (awesome) and randy orton shaking my hand, that was sweet. me, my buddy, and my brother got on tv when they showed the air force people who were two rows infront of us. other notes i guess i feel like sharing, cole came out to some massive heat, and booker got an amazing reaction. everytime they showed cena on the tron the crowd boo'd like crazy. which is funny, cuz tucson is usually pro-face when it comes to cheering. dolph also got some crazy heat when they showed him. also, rosa mendes is crazy hot in person...good lord..all in all, amazing show, cant wait to see it on tv..cant wait for them to come back here

Seconded. The dude is getting crazy heat and he hasn't even really turned yet. Amazing. He's nailing this character so well. I'd personally have him go through most of the year as the World Heavyweight Champion. I kind of wish they had Big Show quit, and then eventually come back as Daniel Bryan's enforcer, helping him keep the WHC against Randy Orton right up through Extreme Rules, leading to an Orton vs. Big Show match, before Orton gets Bryan inside a Steel Cage or something.

Going to make a wild prediction. A really wild one. Like a ridiculous one, but I'm going to be the first to make it:
Eddie Colon will be a future World Champion in the WWE. Not for a few years, but providing he keeps his nose clean and doesn't rub people the wrong way (like his brother did), then I think he'll eventually be given a bone that he will run with, get over with (the dude's already far more over as a heel than he has any right to be), and build up enough momentum and a cult following to get to a point where it seems like a far more logical prediction.

I dunno about it being an overstatement. The thing with the other four mentioned here is that they all have long back stories. If you compare their first reigns, then honestly, Bryan scores over. Except for maybe Mark Henry, who was just booked extremely well in to the championship.

And the only reason I will give you Kane is because of the shitty angles he was in while champ.
I'm not even going to respond to Jimmy since the guy has a running commentary with himself in the ROH thread, so he's beyond biased.
I have no idea how someone can call Bryan "the best champ in a long while" when the guy has only had the title for a little over a month.
It wouldn't bother me so much if his mic skills weren't so obviously bland. Nothing he says on the mic sounds natural, as if he's reading off cue cards. The gimmick itself is efficient enough but it is nothing special.
Just seems like there are a lot of people looking at this guy through rose colored glasses.

i think a lot of the problem is this is true. guy isnt an actor. this is a problem most of the roster has, instead of telling a guy to go out and get a point across in their own words they give them word for word what to say. not a lot of wrestlers can do this. really only cena and the rock. most great promo guys, say jericho, are just given the jist and fill in the blanks. speaking with your own voice goes a long way.
but considering he's never goign to cutting his own promo its a mute point, get better at it or get slammed.
still i have enjoyed him on the mic with in reason, but its more about what my expectations are vs what im getting.

Nah, Daniel Bryan has entertained me more than all of them. I'll give you this -- Edge was having a really great run as World Heavyweight Champion at the beginning of 2011, what with his fun matches with Dolph Ziggler and such. But unfortunately his final WHC reign ended way too early for obvious reasons.
I understand that Randy Orton is a far bigger star than Daniel Bryan, and Christian is far better on the mic -- but heel Christian this go around didn't really entertain me as much as he has previously (despite having fantastic matches with Orton) and he was not the champion long enough to really become associated with the belt.
Bryan's been quite good on the mic lately -- yes, not amazing -- but he doesn't need to me. The man is "speaking from the heart," and it not sounding quite right fits his character perfectly. The matches he has had with basically everybody have been done exactly right. He fights tooth-and-nail, and either destroys a mid-carder (Kofi Kingston) or puts up a great fight against a main eventer and then finds a slimy way to retain.
You're allowed not to like the man for whatever reason you may choose, but I have not enjoyed an actual World Heavyweight Title reign this much since... well, I'd probably put him over Jack Swagger right now (who was great, and actually a very similar style champion to Bryan). I would not put him above CM Punk in 2009, though.

Daniel Bryan is fucking incredible right now. As a weasly-heel who still 'appears' as a face. This is definitely Kurt Angle 2000. :D
This is exactly why I am enjoying it so much. Christian had the same potential to be an amazing heel World Heavyweight Champion, and he really should have held onto the belt until Hell in a Cell, but the WWE just couldn't contain their erection for Randy Orton holding gold.
Bryan is doing anything and everything to keep the title, and I seriously think that he could be a defining champion of 2012. What I love about him is that he shows it in the ring, too. In his first defense against Big Show, he took the man right to the limit, got busted open in the mouth, and basically had Show grounded and where he wanted him. He couldn't seal the deal, and when Show showed freakish strength he went out and played the system.
He's not the classic chickenshit. If someone is announced as his opponent, he's like "Cool. Whatever. I'm the best," and then he goes out there and tries to prove it.
Even on SmackDown! this week. When he went after Big Show, he showed such cunning and natural ability. He continuously went after the guy's knee, and when Show would get some distance, it'd be another plan of attack that would work. Show got the upper hand in the end, but the point is that Bryan is not a complete joke. He'll really hurt you. Badly. He's outclassed when it comes to size and power against both of the guys he's feuding with, so he makes up for it with brains and cunning. And right now, despite Show seemingly (as the babyface) the righteous champion -- it's Bryan who holds the proof at the end of the day (in his mind, anyway).
And the little things he does -- the smirk he got the instant it was announced that Show and Henry were opponents; the way that when Henry collapsed in the ring, despite it being an unfortunate real injury, he was watching almost with sadistic pleasure knowing that his title was safe. He's honestly mixing the parts of some of the greatest heel characters of all-time.
Easily my favourite character in the WWE right now.
