View Full Version : Hypothetical: If Miz was let go from the WWE

How well would he perform in a place like Ring of Honor? Would they give him gold? What would the fan reaction be?

#1-norm-fan
02-05-2012, 12:19 PM
He's an entertainer first. I don't think he'd fit in at all.

#1-norm-fan
02-05-2012, 12:20 PM
However he'd be TNA's champion exactly 30 days and 2 seconds after being released.

He wouldnt be over in ROH, their fans like Dean Malenko types, ie, boring.

You shut your mouth when you're talking about Dean Malenko, Goddammit.

He would have a break from wrestling and try his hand at acting.

Swiss Ultimate
02-05-2012, 01:38 PM
So you're saying that if The Rock, Undertaker or Shawn Michaels showed up in a ROH ring they'd get booed?

Entertainer or not, Miz is a former WWE World Champ and great on the mic. I find it hard to believe that they'd snub him. If anything he'd have the most heat in the entire company.

#1-norm-fan
02-05-2012, 01:41 PM
He wouldn't fit in in the ring though and that's what is important. He works a WWE style well. I can't exactly see him in a technical masterpiece though.

#1-norm-fan
02-05-2012, 01:42 PM
Shawn Michaels definitely wouldn't be snubbed. I don't even know why you included him in that list. He's one of, if not the greatest wrestler of all time.

Rammsteinmad
02-05-2012, 02:06 PM
Look at it this way, Miz has stated in the past that he has been a wrestling fan his entire life, and despite all the hatred he received in the locker room for being 'the reality tv guy', he busted his ass and became one of the #1 guys in the company, including defending the WWE title in the main event of a Wrestlemania.

If he was released from WWE and went to ROH, TNA or anywhere else, I'm sure he would work hard to attain equal ammounts of success.

In other words, he would be fine.

#1-norm-fan
02-05-2012, 02:12 PM
I could say "He'd work his ass off and do whatever is necessary for him to succeed in that environment" about a shit ton of guys. Maybe he would. As he is now though, he wouldn't be able to go there immediately and succeed.

I can't see Miz ever going to another wrestling promotion. If he ever left WWE then he would do something in Hollywood before he ever wrestled again.

ROH fans shat all over one of the Hardys making an appearance but it was sold out, sure the Miz would draw there too,if only to get kicked about the place.

02-05-2012, 03:16 PM
I see ROH below the Miz. He might go to TNA but I seriously doubt he'd ever bother with ROH. I think he'd turn to acting or something else besides wrestling first.

A ROH fan ripping on a WWE wrestler's mic skills. Interesting.

Jimmy is completely obtuse with his criticisms of anything in the wrestling world.

Being "able to cut a promo" hasn't stopped The Briscoe Brothers (who also aren't great in the ring) becoming successful there. Or Benjamin/Haas. Or any number of guys on the roster.

Captain of Fun
02-05-2012, 05:27 PM
Also, the miz may not cut the best promos in wwe, but to say that he can't cut one at all, is a bold face lie.

Somehow I couldn't see him going to any of the other major promotions in the USA if anything I could end up seeing him going back to an indy fed or out east when he's a fair bit older though.

Razzamajazz

Damndirty

Don't know where he'd go, but Vince's reaction to his departure would be to hold his hands behind his back, rock on his heels, whistling, and rolling his eyes as if nothing happened, either never mentioning him leaving or saying Miz had a permanent injury and is never gonna wrestle again, but he suddenly pops up on another promotion. For the record, he's going to go where he can get more publicity, so it'd be more TNA-wise than ROH-wise.

Anyone who says Miz wouldnt main event in any promotion other than WWE is pissing into the wind with there mouth open.

The guys a star, yes he doesn't put on 5 star classics with a broom but the guy can go.

Any smaller promotion than WWE who picked him up would be stupid not to have him in the there title hunt and hang the belt on him pretty quickly.

Such a shame I always forget to tune into ROH Primetime Monday night show.

#1-norm-fan
02-06-2012, 01:14 AM
You realize WWE is much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much more popular than RoH... and The Miz is one of WWE's bigger stars... meaning most people will put him above a company that is SO far below WWE's level.

Again, regardless of your personal opinion, I don't see how this can possibly upset you at this point. Much less surprise you.

The booking committee in ROH wouldn't sign Mike Mizanin. He's not their style of performer, and he would over-shadow the younger talent. Plus the fans would tear him apart. He has little-to-no athletic ability, he can't get over without production, and he is so scripted you can almost see the words on his hand when he cuts promos.

You can look through rose colored glasses all you want and polish your turd. Just don't be surprised when you're covered in shit.

St. Jimmy
02-06-2012, 01:26 AM
TNA however would push Bobby Roode off of a cliff to get the belt off of him and slap it on Miz before the ink was fucking dry.

#1-norm-fan
02-06-2012, 01:28 AM
For the record, I said earlier that he wouldn't fit in with RoH as he isn't their style of performer.

Not sure what his promo skills have to do with it since they are hardly a prerequisite to be a "star" in RoH but yes, he doesn't fit their specific mold.

St. Jimmy
02-06-2012, 01:31 AM
I don't see where people got this fucking idea that ROH talent can't cut a promo, but it's bullshit. Richards, Steen, The Briscoes, Eddie Edwards, Generico, Lethal, WGTT, Strong are all top ROH guys and cut great promos. Steen is the best heel in the business at the moment.

The Miz gets more PIE in one day than all of ROH in a lifetime.

Just cant imagine him even giving it a go, he would laugh ROH out the door.

But for real, I am not a big Miz fan, or ROH fan, so I can look at this objectively.

I dont hate ROH, it has its place. But St Jimmy, you sound like such a fan boy its sad.

The Miz makes high 6 figures main eventing major PPVs with Cena, and the Rock - Two if the biggest stars wrestling has ever produced.

He is hardly BELOW the 3rd tier circuit in the USA. He would sooner turn down ROH over them turning him down.

His heel character would work out well in RoH but they would probably gradually push him for a while so that he would get used to their style. He does bring some name value to RoH but nothing that would suddenly make people show some interest like Hogan's debut with TNA.

Now if he went to TNA, then within a month or so he'd either become the champion or at least the challenger for the title. Probably would involve Hogan somehow.

Rollermacka
02-06-2012, 03:28 PM
I agree with the TNA points everyones making. He'd put on some weight, go to TNA, bad mouth WWE, win the world title, and come groveling back to Vince when he gets a chance.

Although, I would like to see a Anderson/ Miz feud but knowing TNA they'd screw it up. If Anderson comes back to WWE, the feud would be Awesome (no pun intended)
