Yes thats THE Vince Mcmahon. The only reason he got a Exec Producer billing was because he is letting The Rock have time off to film the movie and in return they give him that billing plus pay him money. He is also the Exec Producer in Scorpion King and Walking Tall. It really doesnt mean that much.

He's the executive producer due to a business agreement. IN turn, Rock owns gets huge profits off his merchandise, and I think he owns the trademark "The Rock"

Vince still owns the Trademark. Rocky gets to use it as aprt of the agreement, but Vince owns it.

This is why there have aso been reports that The Rock wants to be billed as Duane "Rocky" Johnson later on. It'll allow him to identify himself as the rock without being credited as the Rock, and thus, ties him less to Vince. At least, that's my armchair interpretation of the matter. :D

To be fair, Executive Producer's don't exactly do a great deal in the moviemaking process. Except count the profits.

In vinces case he doesnt really do anything. He just sits back and collects the pay check.

Yeah, "The Rock" has said in interviews, most notible Howard Stern that he now owns "The Rock" the gimmick and trademark.

But, I also read somewhere that the us patent office, still has it under wwe.

Actually, Dwayne Johnson owns "The Rock" name now. He paid for it.

I think Vince was also responsible for the use of XFL clips in the movie.

from what I understand with patents is that The Rock can't buy it direct from Mcmahon, Vince would have to release the trademark, thus letting anyone try and take over "the rock" trademark. I believe though that vince is allowed to "rent" out the trademarl to the rock for 1 cent a year or something like that.

Yeah, odds are the WWE are licensing it out to him for a fee, since WWE (or rather WWFE Inc.) are listed as owners.

One interesting thing to note is that WWE abandoned another Rock trademark relating to clothing type merchandise around 2 years ago. Probably means nothing, but still odd.

It's easy enough to end run this issue of "selling" the trademark. They could actually "sell" it to the Rock on paper, but still technically own it.

The Rundown also had a credit from "WWE Films" didn't it?

I don't remember. I remember seeing "In association with WWE Films" or whatever during the opening credits of Walking Tall though.

It says: In association with Bruke Samples/Foster Productions and WWE Films.

The Rock does own his trademark and all. It's all been his for quite a while.

As far as i know, the only reason Vince was executive producer was the fact that he owns The Rocks contract.
