I was watching a Vietnam Doc. and conscription came up,kinda random but did the big name talents avoid getting drafted during wars, ala Sinatra, or what? I know guys used time served as part of their gimmick after WW2 but have never heard of anyone using Vietnam as part of a gimmick...enlighten me.
Probably only Seth82 or DLVH84 would have any clue.

there were alot of athletes that got drafted. i remember hearing of some MLB players that did anyway
maybe vietnam was so unpopular that anyone using that as part of their gimmick wouldn't get any "american hero" sympathy

Dunno if maybe someone used it the same way as Nazi gimmicks or sneaky Japanese guys or whatever. Other than Jesse Ventura obviously.
I'm thinking Sgt. Craig "Pitbull" Pittman maybe

Cobra made his WCW debut on September 9, 1995 edition of WCW Worldwide, defeating Bobby Starr with his Cobra clutch slam finisher. Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and "Mean" Gene Okerlund explained Cobra's kayfabe back story of having served in the Gulf War. Sgt. Craig Pittman, a legit Marine sergeant, abandoned Cobra in the desert, then reported him AWOL back at camp. Cobra lost all rank and respect, learned to wrestle, and came to WCW seeking revenge on Pittman.
Say what you will about WCW but they came up with some great 80s action movie angles

Hmm, Good point. I can think of major athletes that go drafted in every sport, but not Wrestling.
Dodgers maybe?

Maybe with it still being territories it wasn't quite as noticable than it would be from the mid 80s onwards, just struck me as weird that there isnt any names that come to mind. Razzamajazz is probably right about it being an 'unpopular' war to take advantage of.
