View Full Version : Headed to comic store tommorow
What should I get. I saw on Attack of The Show that this new Spiderman with the black latino kid, is really good. I'm not much of a Spidey fan though.
Anything good involving Gambit? Gambit is my favorite.
Recommend me some stuff. I'm looking along the lines of those comic book books, not the old school small magazine like comics.
Anyways, go.

If they have the trades of the new X-force, get them. Start from the first series, with the Wolverine, X-23, Warpath, Archangel team.
It's basically an X-men Wetwork team, that Cyclops put together to go do things that "Heroes" shouldn't be doing. i.e. violently slaughtering the bad guys.
Both volumes also have outstanding artwork as well. It's probably my favorite book right now.

They do exist. My gf buys my comics for me when I can't pick them up.
One of my favorite comics is called PS238. It's about an elementary school for children with superpowers.

Reading Batgirl, Nightwing, Detective Comics, Swamp Thing, Aquaman, Static Shock, and Animal Man right now. All of them have been incredible so far. Animal Man, Swamp Thing, and Batgirl stand out big time so far. Great series.
Static is great too but I think they cancelled it so no use in following back issues for no payoff.

Static has been pretty bad actually. Detective Comics has been pretty average, the "Batman" book is much better.
The rest you mentioned are good, though.
But RP sounds like he wants more Marvel stuff. Which I cannot help him with. I am way behind in Marvel.

Yeah, Detective comics is a bit on the average side out of those. At least it has been better than Dark Knight thus far, at least to me. I should pick up the Batman books for sure. So far in the Batman universe, Batgirl has been far and away my favorite series.
I have a soft spot for Static, have always loved him. Didn't think the first issue was bad at all but I'll agree it got a bit lackluster.

Batman has the Court of Owls stuff going on, which is leading to one of Batman's trademark crossover over like 9 different books he and his sidekicks have.

Anything from the past few years with the word "Avengers" in it, is a pretty solid bet. Avengers academy in particular has been really good.
Anything good that's Gambit related?

The last Gambit series I can remember was back in 2000 or 2001 or something. As far as something he's currently involved in, I'm not entirely sure. Not a big Marvel guy other than Captain America.
Is it weird that my favorite superhero is Gambit? Or unique?

Naw, I've always been a fan of Gambit and have some of his comics back from that 2001 run. I also read when he was temporarily the leader of the X-men for awhile. He's a great man.

A lot of people like Gambit. He has been a favorite of mine for a long time.
Besides the series from like 12 years ago everyone recommends..
There was also a series from 1993 that was really cool. Explored a lot of his origins. He got to just show his skills. Its older so you might have read it.

I think Gambit was around in X-Men Legacy last time I read it.
I think X-Men Legacy got canceled though and relaunched or something. Wikipedia says he is going to be a team member in Astonishing X-Men starting with #48
