while c&c generals has its faults as a strategy game, it is addictive as hell. and the multiplayer games are awsome. i prefer USA (air force general in particular). anyway these are IMO the best units the game has to offer.
1-USA sniper - stealthed when stationary. 1 can kill 20 infantry before they know what hit them. its the range of the sniper rifle that makes it the best unit in the game. he will take out Jarmen Kell, Black Lotus, or Col. Burton before they know the sniper is even there.
2-GLA (Demolitions General) Jarmen Kell with explosives - can blow up buildings ala Col. Burton and is armed with the effective sniper rifle, plus he can still take out vehicles.
3-USA (Air Force General) stealth comanche - three of em (along with light patriot missile defense) can defend your entire base indefinitly against all computer enemies. and they dont even know youre there until you decide to open fire.
4-CHINA overlord tank - three of em can over-run an entire base. theyre just plain brutal.
5-USA stealth fighter. they dont pack a real big punch, but they are extremely useful nonetheless, especially when equiped with 'bunkerbuster' bombs to clear out buildings and bunkers. and no matter what kind of shit you send them into they always have a habbit of making it back to base.

I don't have the Zero Hour expansion, but I do know some badass strategies for the original Generals:
USA: It's all about the Comanches. Get enough of those puppies and you can take out just about anything. If you're going up against the GLA, send in a few teams of Scouts (snipers) to pin down the Stinger sites, and they'll be helpless when the choppers arrive. Stealth Fighters aren't quite as good as in Zero Hour, but if you can take out the enemy's anti-air first, they'll raise all kinds of hell.
China: Get a group of Overlords together, attach a propaganda tower to one, and gattling cannons to all the others. They'll be absolutely indestructable and can take anything the enemies dish out (except WMD's)
GLA: The Angry Mob (armed w/AK-47's) kicks all kinds of ass against just about everything except base defenses. Also, a fun strategy I've learned against the computer is to deploy a rebel ambush inside the enemy base, capture key buildings, and watch the enemy destroy its own base. Works great if you can take out the US or China's power plants.

Aurora Alpha Bombers, with fuel bombs. I think only the WMD General has them, but they're ****ing crazy. I tried playing against the US WMD General in the Challenge, and they took me out within minutes using those, because you can't hit them with anti-aircraft weapons, and the bombs basically blow everything up straight away in a wide area.

^actually dude, i think the regular aurora jets are better. the air fuel bomb does less damage but over a larger area. Aurora jets would have been my next best unit in the game, because other than a wmd, they are the only weapon guaranteed to hit their target, and they are very powerful against any target.

No the Alpha ones are crazy. They take out all buildings and units in a wide radius, except for the stronger buildings, but even then 2 or 3 at once is enough to destroy those completely.
They are just about impossible to counter in the Generals challenge.

yeah. i agree with everything you said. one thing though. taking out the enemy base defenses is what the stealth fighters are for. you need to get zero hour. its only like $20 now. in it, all US aircraft are almost involnerable to missile attacks because of the countermeasures upgrades. those QUAD CANNONS are still a pain in the ass, though. oh, and Chinese MINI GUNNERS are even worse.

They're definitely good, but 4 Alpha jets cause more damage than a nuke.

Oh, and has anyone gotten the hang of the World Builder yet? I'm trying to make a good urban combat mission, but I can't zoom in on anything except for the dead center of the map. It's frustrating as hell.

They are impossible to stop in any game. Not just challenge. By the time you can destroy them, they already did thier damage.
Generals has no faults either mr. shock&awe

Also I recommend either getting Pro: Gen or Reborn v4 mods for Zero Hour
Pro: Gen: deezire.net
Reborn: Umm..search for it.

 well, it has one, and thats that the computer enemies arent very smart. the harder level you choose basically increases the number of units the computer enemies produce-it does not effect their tactics.

Well, I figured out the camera, and how to do just about everything for creating terrain and setting units in place. The scripts are still a bitch to make, though (especially if you're doing what I'm trying to do and have a bunch of ambushes and stuff)
