On paper, the card is kind of bland. But those type of cards usually have the best action, so I'm expecting an exciting night.
I think Browne and Schaub should be fighting instead of sloppy Ben Rothwell though.

I agree with that sentiment. There aren't a lot of 'names' but these type of cards never disappoint. and even if the night is shit, the Main Event is enough for K7. I may come to the event in my BJJ Gi. BTW, I'm calling Hashad by mata leon.

That fights tough for me to call. I think Rashad can stay busy enough to get a decision, but then again, Jones finishes people and I don't see Rashad taking the punishment that Bonnar took.
Gotta say Jones by TKO in the 4th.

Interesting call sir. Jones has definitely shown the ability to put away legitimate guys. He's a star, and there's no doubting that. Machida was clocking Jones and he legit frustrated him in the first round. Then the Elbow and Machida face happened. Rashad has the athletic ability to implement a simlar gameplan, the wrestling to take Jones down, the power to keep Jones on his toes. He just doesn't have the reach or the size advantage. He'll have to time his shots/punches/movements perfectly to get in.
Rashad won't sit in front of Jones and get picked apart either. I'm just pumped for this fight and I can't wait for this to happen

Awesome! These guys are very polarizing. I'm gonna warn everybody now... When shad wins, I'm going full on heel turn, kicking tables over and slapping candy out of kids hands
And. Nobody will notice :-\.

I don't think Rashad has what it takes to win. He'll come close, probably more than once, but I see Jones being able to change up and take control back pretty much anywhere the fight goes.

We have never seen JBJ get taken down, we've never seen him off his back, we've never seen him counter fighting, we've never seen him be 'the nail'.
Rashad can put JBJ in all of those positions. Anderson silva, the greatest of all time, has his kryptonite. Jon jones has his too...and who better to expose it than his old sparring partner?

Shit card, fuck Rashad.
Yeah... no surprise here. I can't remember the last time a 'shit card' didn't become a knockout festival. I can recall 'stacked' cards becoming snooze fests.

Everyone has weaknesses, yes. What I'm getting at is that it's not going to come down to whose weaknesses are worse or whose strengths are greater. It's going to come down to who does the best to minimize the impact their weaknesses have on their game. Anderson Silva is kind of a head hunter when he leads on offence. As a result, he'll not engage at all if it doesn't suit him to do so, for example.
On the countering, JBJ popped Rampage quite a few times off missed hooks, so we know he has some ability with it. Rashad is considerably faster than Rampage, so I figure for JBJ it'll be less about countering directly and more about mixing up offence in new ways to make it harder for Rashad to fight in close where he'd be in a much better position to do real damage.
As for the rest of it, we'll see. It's true Rashad has inside knowledge on Bones due to being former camp mates, but it works both ways too.

I think the whole "inside knowledge" from them training together is overrated and a moot point now.
It's been over a year since they've trained together, Jon Jones has grown up by leaps and bounds. Jones is finishing the best in the division and future hall of famers (including the guy who knocked Rashad out), so I don't think some sparring sessions from a year ago are going to be on his mind.
If anything, Shad might get surprised considering his level of competition has been no where near JBJ's. Before K7 goes ham, I do think Shad can make it a good fight, but it won't be because they trained together previously.

No ham going bro. Ive voiced my opinions, and you've voiced yours. The only thing shad can take from old sparring sessions is the knowledge that this kid ain't the greatest, and comfort that he did feel what this kid can do. Confidence can trump technique...a lot of people have been lulled into fighting JBJ's fight. I wanna see JBJ put in tough situations. I believe shad will do it

Well, you've got a good point. Minimizing weaknesses will be vital. I'm excited to see how a quick, power double wil be handled by JBJ

Rashad is super fight smart..
I think he's got this one.. Jones could certainly catch him on the jaw like Machida did, but I don't think Rashad will be talking shit during a fight like that again..
p.s. I love when he was like "Oh my God, what a biter, dog??" when jones was on three and four points early in the fight..

Rashad is very intelligent, just like Kris P said. to have such a clear and intimate knowledge of a fighter, and I would have to think that all that time with Greg Jackson has taught him a thing or two about how to prepare (and more importantly), and how JBJ prepares.
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see Rashad come out with a switch stance (feigning a switch kick) and land a bomb of a right hook instead, dropping JBJ like a sack of shit.
However I will be happy happy happy for him to out classhim with speed and athleticism, box him up and take him down/choke him.

One thing I love about Jones, Rashad and GSP that has nothing to do with fighting are their suits. It's a throwback to the days when boxing was on top and the champ always had on a custom. So much better than these dudes who show up with backwards hats, jeans and t-shirts depicting a skeleton skull fucking a skull from rubber guard with some word like "Chokeout" in bold letters arching across it.

Pure wrestle fuck. Douglas didnt do much to avoid said fucking. Bad cardio, poor gameplay leads to this type of performance. The best part was askerin going full heel on the fans after hearing the boos. It may be on YouTube. Bellator's production is lacking, but the fighters goddam bang it out. They'll fight like Dana is watching and the leave it in the ring.

You can thank rashad Evans for that level of professionalism. He got GSP into it, JBJ followed suit(no pun but wtf), hell even bisping is giving Tom Ford some love. If I won the lottery, I'd start making suits, man. I spend six days a week in suits(mornings), then I flip it to underarmour and sprawl shorts. It's funny to see my worlds collide, when coworkers come to my gym, or I'd teammates come to a work sponsored happy hour.

NOV. 5, 2005
An undersized Rashad Evans wins The Ultimate Fighter season 2 heavyweight tournament. He then drops to 205 lbs. and joins Greg Jackson’s Submission Fighting camp in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
2008
AUG. 9, 2008
21-year-old Jon Jones makes his UFC debut with a unanimous decision victory against Andre Gusmao, after only eight months of training.
SEPT. 6, 2008
Evans earns a UFC title shot with a one-punch knockout of UFC legend Chuck ‘The Iceman’ Liddell at UFC 88.
DEC. 27, 2008
Driven by momentum, Evans knocks out Forrest Griffin in the third round to lift the UFC world light heavyweight title.
JAN. 31, 2009
Jones defeats fellow contender Stephan Bonnar at UFC 94. His spinning elbows and suplexes make him the talk of the MMA community.
MAY 23, 2009
Evans loses his UFC world championship to Lyoto Machida in a second-round knockout defeat, which was the lone reversal of his career.
AUG. 22, 2009
After promising not to fight any of his new teammates in the Octagon, Jones joins Jackson’s gym.
SEPT. 30, 2009
Evans predicts new teammate Jones will be champion some day. The pair comes to regard one another as brothers.
MAY 29, 2010
Evans wins a grudge match against Rampage Jackson and becomes the No. 1 contender to champion Shogun Rua.
JUNE 10, 2010
Rua suffers a serious knee injury. Rather than take an interim bout, Evans decides to wait for his title shot. The fight is eventually set for March 2011.
FEB. 4-10, 2011
News breaks that Evans is injured and will be unable to challenge the healed Rua for the UFC light heavyweight belt. The next day, Jones defeats contender Ryan Bader with surprising ease and—with Evans’ blessing—is offered the title fight against Rua. Evans predicts Jones will “destroy” Rua in the first round. Asked repeatedly, Evans claims he would change divisions before he would face Jones, should his “brother” win.
MARCH 3-4, 2011
During the broadcast of UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann, Jones said, “I respect (UFC President) Dana White a lot. If (the Rashad fight is) what he absolutely wanted to happen, then I guess that’s what would have to happen.” Asked to respond on MMA Live, a visibly upset Evans said, “I am no punk. If Jon wins the (title), I have to sit down with the team and decide what to do.”
MARCH 19-22, 2011:
Jones becomes the youngest UFC world champion in history, destroying Rua, before a intense meeting with Evans in the Octagon.
Speaking with MMA Fighting, Evans stunningly announces he has left Team Jackson. “I’m done with Jacksons. And, I know how to fight Jon. I trained with him.” Evans then relocates his training camp to Imperial Athletics in Boca Raton, Florida to form the soon-to-be feared ‘Blackzilians’ camp.
APRIL 25-27, 2011
It is announced that Jones has torn a ligament in his right hand, forcing him to withdraw from a proposed title defense against Evans. This time, Evans does not want to wait for the champion, and accepts a fight with replacement Phil Davis
MAY 12 & 15, 2011
Evans and Jones nearly come to blows at a Las Vegas nightclub and they are separated by Georges St-Pierre. Evans questions the legitimacy of Jones’ hand injury. “Jon doesn’t need surgery,” he said. “No doctor will operate on him. They say he doesn’t need it.”
JULY 13, 2011
Another bitter pill goes down for ‘Suga,’ as Davis pulls out of his fight with Evans with a knee injury.
AUG. 6, 2011:
Eager to fight somebody—anybody—Evans eventually goes on to defeat Tito Ortiz inside two rounds, looking better than ever. But, two months later, Evans is forced to cancel another date with Jones because of a dislocated thumb injury sustained against Ortiz.
SEPT. 24, 2011
Jones submits Rampage in the fourth round of his first UFC world championship defense.
DEC. 10, 2011
Jones caps off an incredible 2011 with a second successful title defense—this time against former champion Lyoto Machida.
JAN. 28, 2012
Evans easily defeats the previously unbeaten Davis over five rounds in an eliminator bout to determine the next UFC title challenger.
FEB. 6, 2012
Jon Jones vs Rashad Evans—perhaps the biggest 205-lbs. title fight since Liddell vs Ortiz II—is on. The fight is set for Atlanta in April.
FEB. 16, 2012
The former friends exchange insults at the official UFC 145 press conference. Jones accuses Evans of jealousy while ‘Suga’ says ‘Bones’ is “all fake.”
APRIL 21, 2012
Jon Jones and Rashad Evans will finally settle their feud, once and for all, at UFC 145 in Atlanta.

I disagree with that statement. GSP isn't undefeated, but aside from that, who were the wrong people he fought? Prior to the emergence of 155, 170 was considered the deepest division.
Jones has gone through a murderer's row of the best guys at 205. How has he been fighting the wrong people? If he beats Evans, the only legit opponent left is Hendo.
I think we've reached a point in MMA where well trained, elite and skilled athletes have emerged as opposed to guys like Chuck and Tito, who are legends in their own era, but were essentially wrestlers who went hunting for guy's heads and decapitated them or pounded their faces into the mat. Their dominance is going to be similar to what you see in boxing from guys like Mayweather, Sergio Martinez and Pacquiao (yeah I know he has some losses but it's been awhile). The days of a guy like Couture winning the Heavyweight title with 8 losses on his record are probably dead and gone.
If you want to attribute their record to guys fighting in the wrong weight classes, that's always been an element of combat sports whether it's MMA or boxing. Most MMA fighters and boxers prefer to cut weight if possible.
Kris P Lettus
04-12-2012, 09:43 PM
GSP has beaten everyone he faced badly.. I realize he lost to guys like Hughes and Serra but he also dominated them in rematches..
As I said on this subject before, maybe guys should fight at their natural weights, then it might even the playing field..
GSP-185
Silva-205
Jones-245
I know Jones is skinny for his height, but he is 6'4" with a gigantic reach.. He'd be better matched up against JDS than the guys at 205..
There was even an article today about it..
http://www.mmamania.com/2012/4/12/2942938/jon-jones-fight-junior-dos-santos-at-ufc-146-mma
Jones has already expressly stated his desire to move up to the heavyweight division once he completely overruns the landscape at 205-pounds. After all, he's a massive man and the move has long been thought an inevitability.

Next weekend, I will be in Atlanta to defend my UFC light heavyweight championship for the third time in the main event of UFC 145. My opponent is someone I have a lot of history with, and I am very much looking forward to fighting, defeating and moving on from.
You all know who I am talking about. The guy who has been talking about me ever since I became champion last March, the guy who has branded me "arrogant" and "cocky" because that's what he fears he is and he wants to reflect that back on me.
As a matter of fact, Jonathan Jones is a guy who loves his family and is just a skinny kid chasing his dream. "Bones" Jones is the guy who has to be a little cocky, has to believe in himself 100 percent and has to be somewhat of a bad dude because intimidating your opponent and future opponents is a big part of this game. How I am fight week is different to the guy I am when I am watching TV with my kids, and I think everyone except my opponent on April 21 gets that.
The truth is, now that I've seen the way he's been this past year, I look at my opponent as fake, self-centered and arrogant, and he tries to reflect all of what he is on me. Matt Hughes was the first to call him out for being cocky, for being arrogant, way back on the Ultimate Fighter II back in 2005. That's a Hall of Famer in Matt Hughes, a man who is greatly respected by everyone in the sport, and he was the first guy to sniff out what my opponent really is.
Then the guy wins the belt and shows up to press conferences — indoor press conferences in the middle of winter — wearing sunglasses. He's the guy who kissed his hand and rubbed his crotch during a UFC world title fight. He's the guy who gyrates and dances in the Octagon after he knocks someone out.
I have no sympathy for my opponent. He is the one who has the problem. He is the one who decided to leave the gym at which we used to train together to build a team that completely focuses on him and his own needs.
I'm just getting started as a champion in the UFC. I've not done what guys like Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture and Tito Ortiz have done as light heavyweight champion, but I feel that 2011 — beating four great fighters, three of them UFC champions at some point — was a good start.
You may have seen FUEL TV this week. My opponent was arrogant to say I wasn't the champion because I hadn't beaten him. He lost this belt years ago, and it has changed hands twice since then ... But I'm not the champion? His reign ended in his very first defense — by knockout. I stopped the guy who stopped the guy who stopped him ... But I'm not the champion?
My opponent struggled with his long, boring fight with Rampage Jackson where he nearly got finished in the last round. I finished Rampage ... But I'm not the champion? My opponent was knocked silly, did the stanky leg in the center of the Octagon, when he fought Lyoto Machida. I finished Machida ... But I'm not the champion?
He's crazy, and he's telling himself all these things to try to gain confidence before next Saturday. I've never been so confident. I feel I am working harder, working better than ever before. But I am not complacent. My opponent has a huge right hand he can knock anyone out with, and he has great wrestling. Those are the two ways he can win: hit me with that right hand or wrestle me and hold me down for five rounds like he did Phil Davis in January.
I know I have weaknesses and that I can lose this fight. I know everyone in every weight division — no matter if he's the champion, if he's a contender or some kid in his very first UFC fight — all of us are one mistake away from a loss in the Octagon. That's one of the things that makes this sport so great and one of the reasons I love this sport so much.
I'm not naive to my own weaknesses. I know how I can lose, but I have trained — like a madman, l promise you — to make those weakness as small as I can.
I am younger than my opponent and — unlike when I was 21, 22 years old — I am probably stronger than him now. I'm also a great wrestler, too. He should realize that. And my striking is way, way sharper and is getting better and better. My opponent doesn't know what he has gotten into on April 21.
I'm the present and the future of the UFC light heavyweight division. My opponent is the past. And soon all the talk will be over and I will finally be able prove that in the middle of the Octagon.
I love hearing from you guys, tweet me @JonnyBones

Also, Bones is writing an article on Fox Sports website.. He talks about how arrogant Rashad is, then starts referring to himself in third person..
http://msn.foxsports.com/ufc/story/UFC-145-Jon-Jones-Rashad-Evans-041112
I think Jones is a bit of a prick too, but Jones he's speaking in the first person, not the third person my man. If the guy wants to talk about his skills, hype the fight or explain the difference between him and Rashad, he kind of has to say "I" and "I'm."

:wtf:
As a matter of fact, Jonathan Jones is a guy who loves his family and is just a skinny kid chasing his dream. "Bones" Jones is the guy who has to be a little cocky, has to believe in himself 100 percent and has to be somewhat of a bad dude because intimidating your opponent and future opponents is a big part of this game. How I am fight week is different to the guy I am when I am watching TV with my kids, and I think everyone except my opponent on April 21 gets that.

I really don't understand Rashad.. He is asked during that presser about Overeem and Bigfoot training together and he was like if Silva comes to UFC, they would stop training together cause you can't train with guys in the same promotion at the same weight..
Didn't he train for years with Jardine??
Funky Fly

He probably means now that he got burned by the whole title fight scenario.
Kris P Lettus
04-14-2012, 02:33 PM
I don't see how he's getting burned though.. I mean, his injury is the only reason he didn't fight Shogun.. Jones can't help that they gave him the title shot.. What's he supposed to do, refuse it?? UFC was gonna let Rashad wait and just face the champion after his injury healed, but he decided to come in and take the Ortiz and Davis fights..
I think it's more of a slap in Jardine's face cause he didn't feel he was a threat..

I disagree
When Shad gets all his takedowns stuffed he'll turn into Condit and do a runner for 4 rounds
Cant see this being an exciting fight at all tbh, but I guess I didnt but into all this fake beef between the two anyway.
Best thing about this fight will be that Krimson thread after one of them lose.
