With Shawn being added as the special guest ref at WM, I'm starting to believe that it might be a start to a Shawn vs Triple H at next years mania. I don't see any other reason to add Shawn as ref unless they plan on building something, we all know Takers going to win the match so why have that bitterness between Shawn and Triple H if its not going to end in a match. I believe Shawn will be the first pro wrestler to keep their word and stay retired, but if anything will bring him back for one last match it would be against his best friend at WM in the last match of both of their careers.
Thoughts?

I feel like its been long enough since their last encounter that it could work and mean alot. I dont know how amped up Shawn would be about returning after two years into retirement and oersonally, I like Hunter being a full time exec and part time wrestler. If they can build a story around it that is as compelling as Shawns final angle was, Im down.

I'd really like Shawn to be the guy that retired when he wanted to and kept his word.

I dont think its anything more than the potential to screw 'Taker over, another thing to hype up in the build.

This. Even though I think he could still come back and put on a better performance that pretty much anyone on the roster, I kinda feel like he should just be done as an active wrestler. I was annoyed enough that he had probably the best period of his career from 2002-2010, was probably the best performer during that time period and got all of a one month title run to show for it. He doesn't need to unretire to put more people over. Fuck 'em.

From what I've read, he seemingly didn't want the belt.

Nah. I'd rather he stayed retired and this whole referee thing is just to add a higher threat to Undertaker's streak.

Yeah, i agree with Rammsteinmad here. I'd watch it, but do i really want to? No.

I always thought it was lame when people declined being champion. I understand the whole selflessness of it but if it would be entertaining and people would want to see it, FUCKING TAKE THE TITLE. You're in a business all about pleasing the audience. And an HBM title reign during that time would have been money. Must see World Title matches on PPV monthly. A face everyone could be behind.

Same goes for Piper. That douche, never wanting the title.

Part of it might be though that it allowed him to feud with guys who weren't really in the main event. When a person is the champ, he's usually more "protected" and loses a lot less, where if you're not the champ, you can lose/put people over more to build a good feud.

With that said though, I still think he should have beat Cena for the title at Mania.

And as much as it pains me to say it, I hope Shawn is the one guy to stay retired.

Also, I really think at some point in the HHH/Undertaker match, HBM should blast both with SCM and then leave.

I can see wanting to just put guys over. Only if you're over the hill though. HBM was the best wrestler in the company until his final match. He would have been better served being booked as such over that entire 8 year span and not spending it all as the old guy putting others over.

I was rooting hard for him to beat Cena at Mania but there was just no way it was happening.

I think if he took the title he didn't get the freedom he wanted, that include not working the programs he wanted as stated but also not wanting to work as a heel.

I think it's gonna be another one of those "I can't do it" things from HHH, and Michaels will scream at him to destroy his head with a sledgehammer.

Smuggling bananas hahahhaha

I think if it was career v career, and Shawn won by heelish means, and then had a feud with punk, Bryan, and maybe even Jericho during his heel time back, and then lost to one of those three to lose his career again, I'd be inclined to like it. Dunno how else they'd be able to do it and keep me fromlosing respect.

lol "losing respect", what a ridiculous notion. Guy can do whatever the fuck he wants. "Somebody retired and went back on their word in a business built around false truths and deceiving an audience, how dare they". Always been a dumb shit thing when people talk that bollocks, Foley, Flair, Funk etc. If he stays retired (and I think he will) then good for him. If not, I'm not about to lose sleep/worry about his "legacy"/"lose respect" (however the fuck that would work) when there's fresh Shawn Michaels matches.

coming back for one more wrestlemainia match is hardly breaking retirement.

Personally I don't think the match needs HBM, it's already been upped to a HIAC, having HBM involved will be a distraction more than anything.

I love HBM more than any other wrestler, but he seems to enjoy retirement so god bless him.

Didn't mean I'd lose respect for Hbm. I meant I'd lose respect for wwe for using him poorly.

I'd highly doubt Shawn would wrestle again, as unlike Ric Flair, he is more genuine on his word.

I think Shawn is gonna special ref a few more Mania matches to catch up with the number of Steve Austin's Mania Special Ref appearances.

To lead up to Austin vs Michaels in a Better Special Referee Competition a few Manias down the line.

And this.

I'd have absolutely no problem with Shawn Michaels wanting to come out of retirement if he so wanted to. Hell, if the dude wanted to come back full-time, why the fuck would I complain about one of the greatest ever (if not the greatest ever) giving me more entertaining matches?

That being said, my ideal outcome for the match, would be Shawn Michaels kicking Triple H square in the teeth and allowing The Undertaker to retain the streak. A battered and bloodied Triple H is carted out of the arena in a reversal of his position from last year's WrestleMania.

This starts an angle where Shawn Michaels reveals a darker side to himself. Yes, Shawn Michaels is pretty much universally loved, but if anyone can play an effective and epic heel, it's one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, no? Michaels was basically out to protect his own legacy and Triple H is pissed on that level, but things come up that emphasis the personal destruction HBM caused with his betrayal.

All this could lead to an Unsanctioned Street Fight at SummerSlam XXV, ten years after their previous Unsanctioned Street Fight where Shawn Michaels initially came out of retirement.

The bottom line is making money, and if Shawn Michaels feels like working, Triple H feels like working, and they both feel like making money, I think this would be a huge attraction for the event.

Even if the staying retired bit meant something, I really wouldn't give a shit if Michaels broke it to come back. He's kinda the best performer EVER, and he can come back whenever he wants.

I really liked that Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania XX. But I believe the Last Man Standing Match between HHH and HBM at the 2004 Royal Rumble was the best match they had, bar none.
