View Full Version : Streaming Wrestling PPV's, a disscussion

Okay I'd like to discuss as I wrote in the topic, PPV streams. I know not everyone uses free streams although some do. I have in the past, and to great success as well as great failure. With the big one coming up, it is important to have a great feed. I am curious of the alternative to the stream which is buying the online stream at WWE.com

Has anyone done this before? Is it worth it? Did it fuck up?

You see the UFC is implementing a new strategy to cut down on piracy and are now going after consumers of certain stream membership boards. They have their email, IP, and usernames and are going to take legal action against the views as well as the hosts. This worries me and makes me feel like FREE PPV is a thing of the past, or soon will be.

If your going to watch Wrestlemania other than on your TV, how are you going to watch it?

The price at WWE.com is 54.95 which seems fair to me, but only if the feed is really good and not skipping.

I used the WWE's streaming service twice, when it was still new in 2009 (for Mania and SummerSlam). It worked fine back then and I'd imagine it's better now.

I don't do illegal streams for important PPVs, would not risk the shitty quality.

Are you going to do WWE.com this year?

No, going to a Mania party. If I wasn't I'd be doing it on PPV.

I've been pretty lucky recently and found a great streaming site for WWE PPVs

so I don't know yet if I will shell out money for WM this year or not

Mania is worth paying for it. Get a few people together if you can, everyone pitch in like 5 or 10 bucks and bam. It's not bad at all.

Other PPVs maybe take the chance, I watched Chamber on a stream and didn't go out at all. That being said, if it did get taken down I wouldn't have stressed out about it. It wasn't a big show I really wanted to see like Mania.

As a forever alone,, I won't be going to any Mania parties but I will Taker it Easy all night looooooooong.

Will streaming die? No. You see, there are what we can call obvious or out in the open places which can be used for streams yet there are more private or hidden streams found via irc, deep web and personal contacts. Streams that use programs such as VLC rather than web browsers. You can always stream. Use proxies, VPNs, or whatever you need to make it secure for yourself.

Basically, we are talking about hacking the gibson (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Hack+the+Gibson).

I don't have any friends who still enjoy watching wrestling. Otherwise I'd have a "Mania Party".

As it is, I will probably jump into a stream.

Same here. We did Wrestlemania parties for awhile, but it got sad as year after year people would drop out, until the last one consisted of 3 of us. The next year, no one but myself had any interest. Now it consists of myself and my 6 year old.....fuck I'm getting old. Thanks for that Lock Jaw.:'(

In fact at one point I considered flying to Miami for the show, but the idea of going by myself made me change my mind once I asked around and received no interest from my buddies.

Nice! We use to have bars show them in GA, but most have stopped showing WWE PPV's and only show UFC. Even then you don't get shit other than the show.

I bought Hell in a Cell last year on WWE.com, it was a great experience even on my shitty 2mbps connection.

Still glad I've got the option of ordering it in HD on my TV now though. Defo getting the full HD Mania.

I agree Hasney, for 10 bucks more the HD is definitely worth it. Fuck standard definition.

That sounds like a pretty good deal, would probably do something similar if I knew of anywhere in Liverpool that did it. Bit of a pain in the arse though with it being on so late over here, so most places wouldn't bother having it on.

I think it's the same price here regardless of SD/HD. Just glad I'm not having the WWE.com stream!

I considered finding a bar around here that will be playing it and going, but feel like it would be "weird" to go alone.

nah, none of my lot are up for it and I know quite a few of the folk "in passing" that go and they always talk wrestling with me/let me know why John Cena is the worst wrestler ever and why Christian should be pushed whenever I bump into them and it gets pretty tedious listening to them after a while :S There are some full on tragic folk there but you shouldn't feel weird or anything, plenty of "normal" folk too, surprising amount of females also. probably do Summerslam if they do it this year

Just found out my favourite bar in Leeds (FAB Cafe) are showing it, but not until the evening after.

Might have to see if I can talk some casual observers down and not watch it live.

I have no idea of any bars around here that would show WrestleMania. The students union for one of the universities here always shows SmackDown on Friday nights, but it's always muted as they have shit music playing from the likes of "Dappy" and so on instead. But even if I knew of a place, I wouldn't go. It just wouldn't be the same to me. :-\

My friends aren't really interested in wrestling these days, but they were fans back in the day. They mentioned watching WrestleMania together with me last year but it never happened. A part of me was glad as I'm sure they would have had something to say about the current wrestlers and I'd most likely feel as if I'd have to hold myself back from marking out in front of them. :o

I might mention it to them though as see what comes of it.

But my plans so far for WrestleMania is just like every year. Order it. I always order the "Big Four" and all the other ones, I stream. Mostly because they're shown on Sky Sports and I really can't afford the Sky Sports package. :(

For the first time in years many of my mates are actually talking about it again. They all have opinions again on the 4 'main events' and opinions on wrestling in general so for the first time i have entertained the idea of a Mania party which most would be up for. But for me it shall be 1am on Sky Box Office HD and pray someone volunteers for my shift at 6am the followin morning

I'm familiar with the place.

Still find it odd that anywhere over here is showing it. Do they make a big deal of it?

I had planned to go to a friends' place to watch it but he has this annoying dog that jumps all over you and I can't be dealing with that. Plus, the guy is out of work and has his apartment paid for by the government yet he can afford his Sky bill each month (I can't afford it) and he makes me pay to watch the shows.

Probably end up watching online the following day :(.

I wouldn't say "big deal", they promote a bit on Facebook and I dare say there's posters etc up inside. They usually draw decent sized crowds from what I've seen/heard, this is the 4th or 5th time they've done it

So I was told today that the student's union of my university is showing WrestleMania live for free. Free entry too.

Quite a lot of people are going, which surprises me. I'm thinking of going along myself but I'm not sure yet.

Is the wwe.com stream HD/ widescreen?

This is important.
