So my Internet Explorer has randomly started clicking whenever I click a link or something. It was fine when I turned the PC on but then it started up when I got an email claiming it was from Xbox that actually wasn't. So, it doesn't look good.
It did this before but I read up on it and it said it was some kind of tracking cookie and I should block a web address that they gave. I did that and it worked. That was over a year ago.

Suddenly, it's back. Though the text that comes up when you hover over your clock was suddenly in bold as well, before opening the email. I did a Spybot and an Avast boot time scan and neither found anything but the bold has gone but the clicking hasn't.
Looking it up now, it seems the clicking is just something IE does. Is it?

If it is innocent, how do I turn it off and if it's a sign of some kind of cookie or whatever, how can I get rid of it for good?

Yup, IE just clicks.

Isnt there an option to turn that click off somewheres?

No idea. I only use IE to access some internal intranet websites at work since they don't work with Firefox and they've got the settings locked out by IT administrators. Some of these webpages auto-refresh as well and all you here is.

Ok, as long as it's not some kind of Right Media style tracking cookie or whatever. I've turned it off now, thanks.

That's one of the reasons I wont use IE, either. Clicking got annoying

You can turn it off in the sound options. So I just did that.
