Dolph Ziggler and Kifi Kingston come out in a filler squash match. You're watching these guys try their hardest to have a good five-minute match. After Ziggler wins, he just gets on the mic and talks about how what he just did to Kofi Kingston is nothing compared to what he would do to Bully Ray, and walks off.

I'd be really confused!

What a really great thread, I bet Kifi would be pissed!!!!!!!!!

I think it would only work if they used someone with name recognition but then all youre really doing is promoting a rival company, unless theres a pay off i dont see the poiint.

From a brand perspective, this is a horrible idea. Why give free advertising to your competitors?

Ok, then what about this.

Santino is having a match against the Great Khali. After Khali wins, he just grabs a microphone and rips into AJ Styles.

Oh yeah, I bet everyone wants to see that.

A Khali pipe bomb would be the greatest thing in the history of our sport.

What about it? People wouldn't even know Khali was talking about AJ.

WWE referencing TNA on air is a dumb idea. You're giving exposure to a (albeit very weak) rival.

Perhaps, but that is nothing compared to the confusion that would ensue if Christian were to come back and cut a promo about how this injury has given him a long time to think about how to best get even with Samoa Joe.

Rock Bottom, I like you because we're fans of the same football team. But shut the fuck up right now.

Maybe i am wrong and the wise folks at TPWW will tell me if i am but would Dixie Carters lawyers not have a field day if any random WWE 'dude' mentioned ''The Phenomenal" A.J. Styles. Yes the exposure would be a stupid mistake on WWE part but the copyright infringement would be worse.

What if a TNA wrestler went on a long losing stream and instead of running to the ring screaming yes, he screamed NO!

I'm not sure how it works since AJ used that name elsewhere, im assuming the same way WWE leases the marketing rights to guys like Punk while theyre under contract, but if they went that way they could easily get around it by using the talents WWE gimmick names, plus they own the rights to the Dudley Boys gimmick so you could call out Ray & D-Von without any really worry, still no idea why you'd want too. Be just as well calling out ROH guys,at least Cabanas been mentioned on WWE TV in the past.

Terrible idea. It's about as bad as when Low-Ki (or Kaval at the time) referenced TNA on NXT.

Ok, stay with me here. I know a lot of you aren't on board with this, but imagine this.

Johnny Ace comes out and talks about how he is sick and tired of the petty squabbling with Teddy Long. He wants to reach some sort of agreement. Teddy Long reluctantly comes to the ring. "Alright playa, let's hear what you got."

Then Johnny Ace says he will get to that in a second, but first, let's talk about the bad blood between himself and Austin Aries. Austin Aries, you don't know what you're in for pal. Austin Aries wouldn't even know what to do or say because there's no way he would see it coming.

Is there a agreement between TNA and WWE in your scenario or is this just random namedrops?

ECW guys used to randomly call out WWF and WCW guys on their shows.

whiteyford
04-01-2012, 06:13 AM
ECW was the equivalent of ROH though, and they had a working arrangement with WWF, they're not losing anything by acknowledging the competition, WWE guys just randomly picking fights with TNA guys seems redundant, they already did the opposite in TNA with the VKM.
