been "known of" for some time but a trailer has just been released. I'd watch an Aaron Sorkin show about, well anything so I've been waiting for this, not disappointed with "how it looks". hot cast also

Reviews apparently haven't been great, but I'll still be checking it out when it appears on Sky Atlantic in July. Trailers seem pretty good.

Was gonna post about this actually.
Watched the first episode and I honestly LOVED it.
First 8 minutes were a fucking brilliant introduction to the series.

yeah, saw some of them and the consensus seems to be that it gets worse as it goes in terms of the first few episodes. We'll see. Wouldn't surprise me if it's critics being critics, pouncing on the "idealism" or it being unrealistic and ignoring that that's essentially what the show is supposed to be, "what if" idealism ala The West Wing. Or it could just become awful as it goes on.

Watched it and loved the first episode. We'll see where it goes from here, but the dialogue is amazing.

I enjoyed the first episode, pretty much what WWKD said really.

I dug it. Started a bit slow, but it certainly picked up.
Made me miss Studio 60 though. Loved that show :(

Gonna watch this during the weekend.
Studio 60 lost me early. How can you be a show about a comedy show that isn't funny?

Aaron Sorkin could adapt the phone book, and it'd be the best thing on TV.

Tonight's ep was hot. Way more slapsticky than last week, but I got into the characters more.

Yup. On the whole not enjoying it as much as season 1, but still good.

I like the Genoa storyline, but I miss the "grounded in real events" feel.
Also, I know some people like it better this way, but I liked how the characters were all... I dunno... "wackier" on the first season.
Loved Mac in the first season and kind of had a crush on her. This one, she is just there and super serious most of the time.

Season 2 got off to a really slow start for me. Now that we're getting the payoff from Genoa, it's a lot more enjoyable. Season 1 was still way better/more fun, though.
I enjoyed Season 01 in parts. Standout character is Sloan Sabbith. Swoon.
Haven't seen any of Season 02 yet. How's Olivia Munn in it?

She is probably the closest to being as good as they were in season 1.

I'm pretty close to hate-watching it at this point. Fairly entertaining, but nearly all the characters are extraordinarily punchable about 75% of the time.
Pretty obvious Don bought Sloans book.
The guy playing Don Keefer is the absolute star of the show.

Season finale was excellent. Reminded me a lot of the end of Sports Night. Which makes sense, I guess, since the really slow draggy shit at the beginning of this season reminded me of the excruciatingly bad "dating plan" shit from the start of SN's second season.

Yeah, good finale.
Loved Reese Lansing in it.
Like the entire show in general, I had quite a few issues with the finale, yet still watched and for some reason, enjoyed. More on this later tonight.

Remember when this show had villains?
Anyways, after watching the finale, I hope the show comes back next year, except it's called the Don Keefer Show and it's nothing but Don Keefer having to deal with people inferior to him.
The best part about the Keefer character, to your villain point, is that the first 5 eps or so, you would think Keefer was going to be a bad guy, but if I remember correctly, Maggie broke his heart. Don Keefer is just so fucking cool, he took it like a champ. Jim probably would of taken it like a chump. Keefer was amazing in the Sloan nudie photos episode. Probably the best ep of The Newsroom too. On a show that had a lot of tapid fire dialog, Thomas Sadoski is easily the best at it. His scenes with Munn in the nudie pic ep were fantastically acted. Easily one of my favorite characters on tv right now.
Few issues here. First of all, the marriage proposal seemed rushed and thrown together at the last minute. It's going to take away the Will and Mac not forgiving dynamic, which works well on this show. The only bid thing that might happen is more Don Keefer. On second thought. How about Will and Mac just honey moon for season 3. Let Don be the new anchor.
The first part of of this finale teased at Will blowing up. Never really happened at all.
Reece being made a cool by Charlie, when he decided to do the right thing, kind of annoyed me.
Jim has been completely dumbed down this season. He really seems like an idiot doing an important job.
They could of saved the Maggie and her friend talk for next season, if for any reason, just so we can hear the conversation and not just see them talk.
I think my biggest issue is that Sorkin spent this whole season making Sloan to be this stronger, independent woman and then he gives everyone the middle finger in the last ep by having Will shit all over her and put clown shoes on her. And the worst part was that Munn had to act the part comically. It basically killed her professional side of her character.
Come to think of it as I'm writing this. The end of this season really make me think they ( sorkin, hbo ) were not getting renewed for a third season and that's why they rushed into wrapping things up.
only 3 episodes left ever :(

Ok. Finished it. Pretty "eh" finale. Season was too short... felt like they rushed everything last episode and then the finale was just a "retrospective" for the most part.
Really feel like there should be another season, though....
Yeah really needed more episodes to round off the storylines. The HR rep looking into the inter-office relationship one for example had a pretty "meh" finish.

I feel like the season finale was last week and this week they tied up loose ends.
Great show. However the first ep was far and away the best it ever was.

I liked the whole run, but i don't feel like it ever matched its debut.
So many things still I wish had been expanded on. The EPA official's encounter with Maggie on the train was one of the highlights of this season for me, and when the interview was done I felt let down again. Oh well, you do what you can with so few episodes.
