I did my first blade job yesterday, and it was just luck it was right after watching this vid. So what do you think about blading in professional wrestling? I can see where it can be dangerous in "backyard" companies where somebody cuts you, then cuts themselves, and then cuts you again with the same object. I guess it's just like everything else in wrestling, as long as it's not done in excess I don't mind.

Hope you did a better job than darkestincest.

As long as its in context of the angle, not just for the hell of it,than it has a place.

yeah, it definitely has it's place. and without admittedly knowing any details, I doubt that place was wherever you wrestled yesterday :-\

I always felt like Michaels and Flair were two of the worst at blading just because they cut themselves so fucking deep.

I partied with Hannibal. He is a lunatic and punched a guy out at my mom's bar. Then he chased after my buddies car for some blow.

Well, we all gotta learn some time. It wasn't a main show, it was so that if I ever have to in a match I dont fuck up the spot.

Side note, it was on a Thursday night. What do you expect from a wrestling show on a Thurday night? :shifty:

c'monnn what, there's no learning. I've been on and around a million indy shows and I've only ever seen two guys (at that level) blade, one in a blow off match from a long term angle for a well drawing promotion in front of a regular/"loyal" and a very nice sized crowd and one fat mark wrestling his match for the month in front of about 12 people in a nightclub with a guy he's never been in with before. unless you're Necro Butcher or something, where people pay to see it/it's the basis for your act/pay or the above mentioned part where it really adds something (and even that was questionable for the payoffs that were common there), you shouldn't be going near a blade.

I never realised Indy companies did stuff like that. I would've thought they'd stay away from that kind of stuff. Doesn't seem too logical.

it's really not. the above mentioned fat mark in my post had no fucking idea what he was doing and got blood fucking everywhere in a rented venue with the only ring/setup the promotion had. I went on a match or two later and the blood was even all over the ringposts, was like "c'mon son". but half the guys in wrestling just want to play pro wrestler as opposed to be pro wrestler :-\

not to mention like 90% of indy shows have zero first aid/medical people on hand

When he blades, he usually does it like Ric Flair and leave enough on the mat for an organ transplant. If he did blade, he did an awesome job of making it realistic looking and not like he was the Kool-Aid man with a bunch of pinholes.

The last show I wrestled on for 'that company' (March 3rd) had a guy blading. I really disaprove of it on small indy shows to be honest. In a big company like WWE or TNA it can work for the angle and can be sold through the announcers and used in hype videos etc. But for small indys where it's probably only infront of 100 people and you don't have $100,000 contracts, I always feel that it's just not worth it, and really not appropriate. And as CSL said, it's more for people who want to 'play' pro wrestler instead of actually being a pro wrestler.

The guy at the show I was on, was 'hit in the face with a belt', and then, right in front of the camera and all the people, he 'discreetly' pulled a blade that was taped to the belt and cut himself. He then tried to act like a devastating attack had happened... in front of about 50 people... which he wasn't being paid for. Afterwards, the guy was slammed through a table. Utter chaos and destruction. Half and hour later, both guys were at the bar chatting about how awesome their spots looked in front of the audience. :nono:

What really annoyed me was that as he sat outside smoking with a huge piece of bandage/tape/plaster on his forehead, blood staining through, a family with three small children walked by to come to the show. Kinda made us look like douchebags who mutilate ourselves for no reason. I was just like "Welcome to the wrestling, have fun".

I was involved in a tag match with the same guy last year and he wanted me to cut him. I flat out refused and said I didn't want anything to do with the match if he's gonna cut himself.

Of course, accidents do happen. If people get 'opened up the hard way', well, it happens. Nothing can be done about it without stopping the match.

I've seen more than two blade jobs. I've never done one in my two years, and don't really want to. Sure it adds to the story, but eh.

I did throw up during a double down because I had been sick all day.I didn't get it in the ring. Got it on the apron though. It worked out since dude was working my head and the missed double down spot waa a headbutt off the top that i missed. Vids to come.

The lighting Guy asked if I purged myself And was it part of the spot. Haha. I was like been feeling sick that day.

It'll be on TV in Knoxville and then on YouTube. Ego pro wrestling.

I've had scrapes and stuff bust open, bloddy mouth etc. But I doubt ill ever blade in front of less than 500. We got 350 last show so the time may soon approach.

It usually doesn't add to the story though.

Indifferent Clox

It can. But I don't know about doesn't usually. Anywhere I've seen it done its either after a vicious attack or the begginning of a big story or the end of a rivalry.

Worst thing happened to me in Wrestling story wise was when a groping of us from ego pro "invaded" twa, I got caught with barbed wire in me bum because I was wiping a dudes blood off him and wiping it on my chest and didn't see the other faces coming and the heels running lol... yeah... that was dumb. Anyway then slowly nobody else from ego pro showed up, I had already won a title and renamed it" the ego pro" championship. Eventually I got beat, but had a nice Daniel Bryan esque run for about two months as a heel champion. Came out to just by radiohead. Really wished those guys had showed blip because it had the beginning of a good angle.
