View Full Version : The 'Bump' Thread

I was going to basically have a 'Bumps that don't get their recognition' thread, but thought I would change it to just a thread about bumps.
Just basically talk about bumps that you think were great, some that never got their due or whatnot, about bumps that were pointless or just some bumps in general.
Heres some of mine :y:
A bump which went unnoticed:
The match was TLC 2 at Wrestlemania 17, and the bump was taken by Christian.
Now in the circumstances, i think the bump went kind of un-noticed because of the nature of the match, with there being so many sick bumps in that match, it went un noted by some because the other 'bigger' bumps took the limelight. But this for me is my favourite bump in the match, not only because it's Christian, but because its just great.
It happens when all three teams (Hardys, Dudleys and E+C) are all up on the ladders, the three teams all did a bump, but the first to go off the ladder was Christian and Devon, from virtually the top of the ladder Christian (hair and all) takes the bump to the outside.
At the time I was marking out like a little bitch, but just thought it goes un noticed.
A Pointless bump:
Same match again, TLC 2, when Jeff does the Swanton, there was no real point to this really, they made out like the bump was to take out a member of each opposing teams 'helpers' in Rhyno and Spike, but this could of been done in so many different ways, ie, what happened anyway, they all took each other out, with Lita taking the 3D.
I'm not saying that its a crap bump or anything, cos its not, its awesome, just a little pointless.
A personal favourite bump of mine:
Along with everybody else who has this DVD, you were probably like me, cringing and Joey Styles-ing (OH MY GODDDD!) most of the bumps on Foleys: Greatest Hits and Misses, but this one caught my eye, it was Cactus and Maxx Payne Vs the Nasty Boys in WCW, the table that Cactus was supposed to get piledrivered (I think) through collapsed under the weight of Mick and one of the Nasty boys, so seeing as it looked like that was the finish and it screwed up, Foley decides to take a bump onto concreate from the WCW ramp way into his neck and back.
I must say i watched that bump over and over again, and each time i happened I was like
So if you have any, post them :y:

Also in the TLC 2 match, when Edge was lying on the table and Bubba powerbombed Jeff Hardy onto Edge through the table.

It was a Raw. I've got that match on tape.
Anyways, one of my favorite bumps:
Rey Mysterio, Jr. vs Dean Malenko- the night after Bash at the Beach (the one where the nWo formed), Rey Jr. won his first WCW Cruiserweight Title in a rematch from the Great American Bash. One part of it, Dean is on the outside of the ring, and Rey comes down at him with a BEAUTIFUL Asai Moonsault....
....or it would have been, if his aim was a little better.
Rey sort of caught Dean, but most of his body smacked flat against the concrete floor (he'd actually jumped past the safety mats) What looked like it hurt the most was that his knees slammed into the concret first. OW.
The night before that, during a kickass match with Psicosis (it's on the Rey Mysterio DVD), he went for a corkscrew Asai Moonsault and caught both of his knees on the guardrail. Looking back on it, it's friggin amazing that Rey has had so few injuries over the years.

Mike Awesome getting powerbombed through a table by Matso Tanaka at Heat Wave '98. The table didn't even really break, it just kinda slid out of the way and Mike crashed into the concrete.

Funny thing about that bump, I was reading Spikes WWE column about his worst bumps, and he mentions that, saying that Jeffs head smacked him in the mouth and broke two of his front teeth, and if you watch closely right after Jeff lands and they're all laying there, you can see Spike, still selling the move with his eyes closed, moving his hand to his mouth and feeling the teeth.

In response to this thread, the only bump I can think of that comes to mind, was a chair shot given by Jeff Hardy to Brock Lesner. I've seen the Bump twice, both times on the Brock Lesner, Here comes the pain, DVD. Even if its not a bump....the look on Brocks face after Jeff hits him is funny.

Survivor Series, MSG, 2002/3
Jamie Noble v Billy Kidman,
Noble grabs Kidman, lifts his legs up and lies them over the top rope, with Kidman's head under his armpit, and BAM! Most wicked looking DDT I've seen!
Ironically Kidman kicked out of it, but it was an awesome move, that was pretty much lost in a great match.
Bubba & Spike Dudley & Jeff Hardy v 3 minute warning and Rico (Table Match)
Quite a few good ones in this match particularly with Jeff doing what he does, shrugging his shoulders, and then doing a swanton off the top of the stairwell onto Jamal, putting him through the table.
Actually now that I think about it, the whole PPV was pretty awesome!
Brock Lost the title to Big Show when Heyman screwed him over, the first elimination chamber match when HHH dropped the title to HBK, etc.
I think that I'll watch it again tonight.
IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THIS PPV, THEN WATCH IT! :y:

Yeh, I did notice that, hes eyes are closed and he reaches for his face, cos Spike takes most of the bump with Rhyno just selling nothing much.

Nowhere Man's post remind me of another bump from Foleys Greatest Hits and Misses.
In the rematch against Sabu in ECW, Cactus is on the outside, when Sabu goes for his springboard moonsault to the outside, he moonsaults basically over the top of Cactus (with Cactus trying to catch him) and lands on his feet but his chest lands on the railings
911 who was at ring side had to improv with Foley and just brawl for a bit to give Sabu like a 5 min. break, while Heyman was tryin to see if Sabu could continue.

what about...Joey Stamboli doing that flip over the rope. It was on Nitro and I forgot who he was going against but that resulted in a big time injury that took him out for months.
But I do remember that sick DDT that Noble did on Kidman... thing is it happened on two separate occasions. Why they had Kidman kick out of it I don't know.
