I don't come in the Video Games forum very often, and my post in the backlog thread clearly shows I'm not quite up-to-date with gaming systems. But none-the-less I'd like to take this moment to become better acquainted to the gamers in you all. Use this thread to tell us (or me) your gaming history. You can be as brief or as detailed as you like. Discuss every console you've ever owned and maybe list some favourite games. Maybe discuss specific memories for each console, or just your own general thoughts and views on it.

Will either write mine shortly or tomorrow, but just thought I'd get this post out there now and see how it goes.

I will definitely do this, but not a chance that it will be done on my mobile.

I got Sega Master System in 1989.
Super Nintendo in like 1993.
Playstation in 1997.
PS2 in 2001.
Dreamcast as well. I got it from a friend for 50 bucks in like 2002 or 2003.
PS3 in Fall of 2008.
I got a Gamecube for 30 bucks somewhere in my PS3 era. Either Either 2007 or 2008.
And a PSP which I barely play in like Spring of 2008.

My sister has a Wii and DS.

Fun fact: Some retro games are still very good (Super Metroid, Super Mario World, Sonic... but for the most part I don't praise retro gaming like many people do nowa'days. I prefer the freedom and advancement in the more modern games. Sure old school games are fun, but no way can I spend hours playing Megaman 9 or The Simpsons Arcade game, they're fun but not for hours and hours)

I sold like or gave away 50% of my games, if I didn't I'd probably have like 10 Master System Games, 15 SNES games, maybe like 40 PS1 games and about over 75 PS2 games and over 50 PS3 games. And like 8 PSP games. Oh and like 8 Gamecube games.

Atari Coleco - We got this from my grandparents who had it for when the kids came over. They were moving, so they let us have it. Had a bunch of games, and that weird numpad controller with the knob. Was a really weird system. Had different button sheets that you'd slide into the controller for different games. Don't remember much about it as my stupid step-dad sold it in a garage sale one day without telling us.

NES - Got this with the mario/duckhunt combo for Christmas at my dad's one year. Was awesome. Don't remember many games for it honestly. At the time, it was a fantastic system, but in retrospect there wasn't anything memorable about it.

SNES - Spent fucking days upon days playing this system. One of the best systems ever as a kid. DKC series, Super Mario World, Mario Kart, and other games. Would rent games a lot since they were pretty expensive to buy. Probably spent the most hours playing platformers. Mortal Kombat too.

N64 - Probably BEAT more N64 games than any other system to date. Used to rent 1 or 2 games a month so I would play some of the most random games. Probably my favorite system due to the amount of INCREDIBLE games it had compared to other systems. Mario, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Banjo, etc. LOT of racing games that I loved. Played a shit ton of racing games. Some good fighting games, SSB, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct. Just really had a lot of great games. I even loved sports games on this system, and I wasn't into sports at all back then.

PS1 - Had a PS1 for a little bit but my mom suggested I get an N64 instead. Pretty good decision honestly. Friend had a PS1 and I played it a lot at his house but there were only a few games I ever really enjoyed.

PS2 - Went through a few in a week due to shitty hardware, but I finally got one that was pretty good and it lasted a while. Lot of good games. Solid library. Had a lot of fun, although I don't have one that really works anymore. Mine has a disc read error and I barely have games for it anymore. God of War series, Prince of Persia, Shadow of the Colossus, Kingdom Hearts series, some solid RPGs. Gran Turismo. Lot of solid games for the PS2.

PS3 - Have one, barely use it. Usually just rent new games for it and beat them and take them back. I don't have 'basic' component cables so it stays hooked up to an HDMI in my living room to my bigscreen. Use it for blu-rays mostly, and rentals. Don't own any GOOD games for it.. have a few crappy ones that I got from the guy I bought it from. It's a CECHA01 model, which is one of the first backwards compatible models, so that is good. Has played all the PS2 games I've tried on it and worked great. Don't plan on really using it till DUST 514 comes out, in which case I'm actually going to have to buy a headset for it.

360 - Don't own many games for it really. Probably the best console for shooters to date, although the selection is pretty mediocre and consists of the same few series. Have had a lot of fun with it though, and there are a lot of good games. The problem I have with modern systems is that most of the cross-platform games, I get on PC instead since my PC is superior to the consoles. On the downside, I miss out on the multiplayer aspect with friends, due to most friends having consoles and not a PC.

PC - I consider myself a PC gamer above all else. I fell in love with PC gaming years ago. We had a Windows 3.1 computer when I was a kid, and played a TON of Soleau Software games. When I lived with my dad, we bought a compaq, and although it was a huge piece of shit, I played a ton of games. My first PC games were Rainbow Six and Age of Empires:Rise of Rome. I played them both on Zone.com like crazy. Had 'clans' and all that nonsense. Was a blast, even over 56k internet. I also discovered MMOs early on, and played Asheron's Call for the better part of 4 years or more. Really changed my gaming life, tbh. Am obsessed with MMOs although I don't currently play one. Have a real love/hate relationship with the genre.

Modern PC gaming has just gotten better. I have had a Compaq, Dell, my first custom PC which then went through a couple upgrades over the years, and now I have my first actually REALLY nice PC that I built last year, although I'm sure it could stand a couple upgrades already. The graphical capabilities of modern games are amazing, and I have played so many PC games over the years that it would be impossible for me to list them from memory. PC games are just a whole different beast than console games. RTS mostly, although there is just something about certain other games having much more capable control schemes on a PC as well. Shooters are just a different experience on PC. The fact that I can plug in a 360 controller and use it for various games just makes this one of the most versatile systems you could have. I wish more people would get into PC gaming, because it really is 'superior' all around. I spend most of my time on my PC, so it only makes sense for me to spend money on a nice one since I'm going to use it a lot. But I can understand why some people wouldn't want to spend the money on a good PC.

Atari 2600 - First console I remember playing. Must've been like 4 or 5 when I played it. Accidently broke it though :/

Sega Genesis - Got this a few years later. Liked it, but got it a bit late into the 16 bit era, so didnt get that much playtime out of it.

Sega Saturn - The console I have the fondest memories of. Played it for years, invested an enormous amount of time in Daytona USA multiplayer.

PC - Somewhere in between this, I got my first computer and immediately became a big time PC gamer. Still my preferred platform for gaming. Started with Quake 2 multiplayer/Baldurs Gate etc.

Sega Dreamcast - My least favorite. Got it at launch, but there was not enough games that could hold my interest. I prefer single player games on consoles and the DC was more of a "multiplayer party game" machine.

SNES - Picked this up around 10 years ago, and bought most of it's greatest hits off ebay. Mostly got it for the JRPGs, which I played on roms before and wanted to get the "real" experience.

Nintendo DS - Picked this up sometime in between, again, for the JRPGs and the castlevania games.

PS3 - My current and latest console. Too early to make a judgement yet, as I've only had it for about a year. Really liked what I've played so far, but still do most of my gaming on my PC.

Ya pretty much. PC gaming is just... better.

Anyone who thinks otherwise likely only thinks that because either they've never had a good PC and don't know what there is to experience, or they don't want to spend the money to have a good PC. Understandable. PC Gaming is a more money and time intensive hobby. The 'average' gamer doesn't want to put that sort of money into their hobby. However, there is such an ENORMOUS library of games for PC due to even the oldest games still being playable, that PCs just continue to get better and better. Games never go out of date. PCs just require a bit of knowledge to actually tweak and get running properly that your average gamer doesn't want to take the time to learn to do naturally. I learned everything I know about PCs from just USING them over the years.

And I can play old console games ON my PC. I have SNES/N64/PSX emulators on my PC. Just downloaded a gamecube/Wii emulator. If I had the proper peripherals, could play Wii games in glorious 1080p. Of course, that would also require that I had an HDTV to hook my PC up to.

Not saying consoles don't have their strengths.. although really, IMO, the only pro to a console is if you like a specific game that only a console has. There ARE some fantastic exclusives on consoles, no doubt about it. Uncharted was the first that came to mind, although I know there are other console exclusives. I can use a console controller on my PC if I prefer that control scheme over mouse/keyboard, so that argument is pretty moot.

Hackers have proved over the years that consoles are NOT safe from hacking/aimbotting.. so what was once a legitimate 'pro' to consoles, is just not true anymore.

I recommend this SNES emulator. http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/snes/zsnes.html

freeroms.com and coolrom.com are good places for roms for various systems.

For N64, Project 64 is the best right now. http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/n64/project64.html

Ok, here's mine.

http://www.thunderboltgames.com/s/img600/retrosms2.jpg

My first ever console was the Sega Master System. Don't really have too many specific memories of this one, but I remember a lot of the games I use to play. I loved Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Spider-Man, Scramble Spirits, Streets of Rage and all the Sonic games. I also remember having The Simpson: Bart vs. The Space Mutants for fucking years and years, and never being able to beat the first level. I remember I ended up selling my Master System and all my games (and I had loads of them) for something crappy like £20. If I had waited a few years until Ebay became popular, I probably could have made shit loads more.

http://www.surrealist.de/spielmonster/Impressum/Gewinnspiel/Monsterletter/Konsolen-Ecke/Nintendo_Gameboy/Nintendo_Gameboy.jpg

Quite possibly my favourite of them all, the Nintendo Game Boy. I still have mine, the original, huge, white brick with the green screen. Have hundreds of games for this bad boy. Some of my favourites include Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow and Silver (yep, I was one of the sad fuckers that owned all the versions), James Bond 007, Star Wars, Super Mario Land 1 and 2, Lawnmower Man, and of course, Tetris.

http://www.mariomayhem.com/consoles/snes/snes.jpg

Quite possibly one of the greatest consoles ever. Seriously don't think there are any legit gamers who didn't enjoy the SNES. Spent so many hours of my childhood playing this. So many incredible, simple yet playable games; Super Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong Country, Star Wing, Jurassic Park, Mario Kart, Bomberman, and some obscure titles like Boogerman, Legend (which was a fantastic multiplayer game) and Total Carnage. Also had the Bazooka style gun which was really fun at the time, and the Game Boy adaptor. You can get £10 mobile phones more advanced than this nowadays, but back then, playing a Game Boy game, in colour, on a big TV screeen was revolutionary.

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/__TuhAA3NVlg/SXydTP3kKBI/AAAAAAAAAVU/8xd0psfXgIg/s400/ezcomputer.gif

Was never a big PC gamer. The PC was mostly for my Mum to work on, and since I was young at the time it was all new and exciting. Nothing more really than Windows 95 or 98 compatability. Loved the original Doom games and the first Age of Empires (some of my all-time favourite games), and enjoyed playing Star Wars: Mysteries of the Sith and Dark Forces, Hexen, Realms of the Haunting, and the Goosebumps games were pretty fun, and random cartoon making programs which were fun for a 12-year-old.

http://images.wikia.com/finalfantasy2/de/images/4/4b/Playstation.jpg

Who didn't have a Playstation back in the day? Had fucking hundreds of games for this as my PSX was chipped. Metal Gear Solid, the Tomb Raider series, the WWF series, WCW Mayhem, Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3, Spider-Man 1 and 2, Medal of Honor, and Star Wars: Episode 1 and Jedi Power Battles. Ah man, so many more games that I can't remember right now. So many good times though. I fondly remember whenever new games would come out and it'd be like 'OMG it's so realistic' lol.

http://www.at-mix.de/images/glossar/playstation2.jpg

And finally, my trusty Playstation 2. I have the original, bulky black one, and it's still working fine for me. It may not be as advanced as all the modern consoles of today, but I feel some of the PS2's games still hold up by todays standards, and the great thing about them is that a lot of games shops now have second-hand PS2 games for as little as £2 (and not crappy games, either. These were all 'top games' ten years ago, if you can bare being a bit behind). Favourites include Spider-Man 2 (another of all my-time faves), The Punisher, Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, Splinter Cell, X-Men Legends 1 and 2, Half Life, Red Faction, GTA: Vice City (at 99% dammit!), the Dynasty Warriors games and all the Smackdown games up to 2008.

Unfortunately that's as far as I am at the moment. Just today I started playing X-Men 2: Wolverine's Revenge for PS2, which shows how far behind the times I am. But it's cool. All you guys who spend £30 or £40 on games... I'll be buying the same games for about £3, just when they're about ten years out of date.

I have played on various modern consoles, most notably the X-Box 360, and I FUCKING LOVE the Dead Rising game. I see so many games today with fucking awesome graphics and very realistic looking sceneries etc, but unfortunately I just don't have much time for video games these days, and the problem with modern games is that the controls are usually really complex, that it's okay to learn if you're playing through a game in it's entirety, but it's usually too much to grasp if you're only playing with a friend for a couple of hours.

Yeah Game Boys were fucking awesome back in the day. Feel really sad for you if you missed the start of the Pokeman craze too. I remember everyone in school would have their Gameboys out at lunchtime, and it was so much fun trading and battling with friends and strangers alike, was a great way at making new friends in different year groups, and the games were amazingly advanced for such a simple system.

I grew up in the NES / SNES era. All my friends had a NES, I didn't finally get one until like 1999, lol.

Chronological Order: To the best of my memory.

Coleco Vision - hand me down system from my aunt in '87/88ish. Came with the adapter to play Atari games.

Atari 2600 - My grandpa picked one up at a garage sale '88ish.

Atari XE System - My Mom bought one brand new off the shopping channel around 1988.

Sega Master System - My grandpa picked one up in '89.

SNES - Parents bought for us when it was released in '91.

GameBoy - Got one in '93.

N64 - got one in Spring '96 I think.

PSone (the small Playstation) - My brother bought one.

NES - My brother's friend gave us one. We finally got a NES!!!! lol

GameBoy Colour - my brother got one.

PS2 - My brother bought one.

GameBoy Advance - I bought one.

GameCube - I bought one.

Xbox360 - My brother bought one.

Wii - My brother bought one, we later gave it to our cousins'.

We still have all the systems and games, except I think some gameboy games are MIA.

Commodore 64, remember playing Double Dragon and some football game. Mega Drive Xmas 1991, saw my uncle playing Sonic/played his and decided life wasn't worth living if I couldn't play Sonic at home too. PS1 around October/November 95. Had an N64 for about 6 months strictly for WrestleMania 2000 and WCW/nWo Revenge. PS2 on release date. Took me about 6 months to get round to getting a PS3. Been playing the odd PC game since about 2001, pretty much just Champ/Football Manager every year. Had the most fun over these with GTA III through to IV, THPS 2 and THUG 1, the NHL series from EA Hockey to NHL 09, Madden 97 through now, Newman-Haas, Micro Machines, Pro Evo, Streets of Rage, Formula One/Formula One 97 etc. Max Payne on the PC is my "favourite gaming experience ever".

ZX Spectrum +2

http://media.gdgt.com/img/product/14/b8l/sinclair-zx-spectrum-2-nah-640.jpg

It was actually my Auntie's but I would play it whenever I would go to visit my grandparents as a kid. The games came in the form of cassette tapes and the graphics were mind blowing. (not really)

As it was a British made computer, almost all the games were of something British. I played games of Sooty & Sweep, Postman Pat, The Trap Door and games from the Dizzy series.

It was actually a really enjoyable computer. :y:

Nintendo

http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/8783/nesb.png

Again, it was originally my Auntie's, but then my mum bought one for me and my siblings. My favourite game was Mario 3, and it's my favourite game ever. I would always play that game with everyone. My mum, dad, brother, sister, everyone. Everyone in my family played the Nintendo.

Sega Master System II

http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/9016/segal.png

This was my sister's console but me and my brother would also play it. Me and my brother got the SNES instead. This is how I got introduced to Sonic the Hedgehog. Some other games I played were Enduro Racer, Donald Duck's game "The Lucky Dime Caper ", which I might add, was insanely addictive. And Laser Ghost, which was insanely difficult as I could only play it with the pad. I didn't have the gun.

Super Nintendo

http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/213/sness.png

My favourite console ever. So many enjoyable games that if I were to list them all, you would be reading forever. But to name just a few, Zelda LttP, Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Super Mario Kart, Street Fighter II Turbo, Jurassic Park, Ren & Stimpy's game "Veediots!", Battletoads in Battlemaniacs, Stunt Race FX and of course, The Lion King.

The SNES had an amazing selection of games and to me, it was rare to find a game for it I didn't enjoy.

PlayStation

http://img594.imageshack.us/img594/8892/ps1e.jpg

For me, the PlayStation changed everything. I wouldn't play a game the same again. The PlayStation made gaming "grow up", and all of a sudden, I noticed more adults playing computer games and more specifically, the PlayStation. Rarely would I see a game being played on it that featured and cartoon/cutesy character like I was used to with the SNES.

After watching the sons of a family friend play their PlayStation, me and my brother finally got one for Christmas. I still remember unwrapping it. It came with WWF War Zone, V-Rally and a Demo Disk. Obviously, I played WWF War Zone mostly at first, but I also played games such as WWF Attitude and WWF SmackDown 1 & 2, Grand Theft Auto, Crash Bandicoot, Crash Team Racing, Kensei, Resident Evil 2, Final Fantasy VII, Rugrats: Search for Reptar, Battle Arena Toshinden 2 and World's Scariest Police Chases, which was surprisingly enjoyable.

Nintendo 64

http://images.wikia.com/donkeykong/images/8/8d/Nintendo_64.png

The N64 was awesome. Just like the SNES, the selection of games for it was amazing. The WWF and also WCW games (Even though I wasn't a "WCW guy" as a kid) were all enjoyable. WWF No Mercy being the best overall. But also Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Zelda OoT, GoldenEye, F-Zero X were all amazing games.

But you would also get little somewhat unknown gems like Space Station Silicon Valley, which was a great game.

PlayStation 2

http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/images/so/sony-playstation2-console.jpg

To me, just like the PS1, the PlayStation 2 changed everything. Sony did it again.

But this time, gaming was seen as being normal and "cool". No longer was is seen as "geeky" or anything like that. Mostly because everyone had a PlayStaion 2, and the majority of the games were more adult. I've had a lot of fun with my PlayStation 2. It also introduced me to the awesomeness that is TimeSplitters. :y:

This is somewhat of a rant, but for me, I think the PlayStation 2 is where I truly stopped enjoying games. I still enjoy playing computer games, but I just don't get that "buzz" that I got when I used to play my PlayStation 2 and all the consoles before it.

I'd say that around 2005, was when the way of computer games changed, but not in a good way. These days, there is hardly a variety of games out there and the companies act like they're more interested in money rather than creating an enjoyable game.

Also, with DLC and patches now, a lot of games aren't 100% complete when they're sold. It seems like the companies just want to toss a game out to us to get money ASAP and if someone comes across a problem, then all they need to do is say "Yeah, we'll get a patch for that.". :-\

I come across more glitches in today's games than I did when I played my games as a kid, which was insanely rare to come across one.

GameCube

I'll be honest, I didn't play my GameCube that much. I enjoyed playing TLoZ: The Wind Waker. I'd say that game was the best game on the GameCube. I also played Mario Sunshine, WrestleMania X8, Luigi's Mansion, Smash Bros. Melee, F-Zero GX and TimeSplitters 2.

Xbox 360

It's actually my brother's console, but he's nice enough to let me play it, which I rarely have time for anyway. I only ever really play my WWE games on it, but also GTA IV, N+, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, Portal and the fantastic game known as Mirror's Edge. I love that game.

Nintendo DS

Again, it's my brothers so I've not played much of it. I played New Super Mario Bros. which was great. Also, some random games.

I hear you about the PS2...good times to this day...a little over a year ago I even found a couple of sweet deals on a couple of games I thought I'd never have in my collection: Fantavision, and the one that started the music game craze, Frequency. Both are just too awesome for words here. It's really one of those you have to have played it to know of the awesomeness of it things.

The last time I bought a bunch of PS2 games, I got;

Metal Gear Solid 2
Metal Gear Solid 3
Splinter Cell 2: Chaos Theory
Call of Duty
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One
Black
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
X.Men 2: Wolverine's Revenge
X-Men 3
Medal of Honor: Frontline
Medal of Honor: Rising Sun

Can't remember exactly how much I paid, but it was in the region of £20-£25.

Kinda felt like an idiot taking so many games to the counter, but this would be my next supply of video games for the next five years at least, so I wasn't too fussed. (Currently at two years now and have completed five of them).

NES - First console I ever played and always liked going over to a cousin's house who had 40-50 games. Got my own on Christmas of 1992 and still consider this to be the best Christmas present ever. Favorite games were the Legend of Zelda, Double Dragon II, and Super Mario Bros 3.

N64 - Probably my favorite console I ever owned. Once again played it mostly at the same cousin's house before getting my own in Christmas of 1998. Had a ton of fun moments and memories with the N64 and played the most games for it out of all the consoles I ever owned. Favorite games included the set of THQ wrestling games, Perfect Dark, both Zelda games on the system, and Conkers Bad Fur Day.

Gamecube - This one holds a special place in being the first console I bought on my own with Eternal Darkness being the first game bought. Didn't really like any of the wrestling games overall in comparison to the N64 but did own a lot more fighting games. Resident Evil 4 was my favorite game of the entire generation.

PS2 - First non-Nintendo console bought and mainly just so I could play GTA Vice City. At the time I didn't feel like owning an Xbox or playing just shooters in general but overall didn't like the feel of the sticks on the PS2 for shooters. Played a bunch of games but ended up only keeping a couple for the system and mostly Rockstar games.

Xbox 360 - Got this in 2008 and only reason was due to paying just $150 because of a promotion a cousin was involved with at his work. Not much of an online gamer but was the first system where at least most of my collection was digital games. For online games, played GTA IV and Halo 3 the most.

Wii - Got this in 2009 and ended up loving it as much as my N64 and more than the Gamecube overall. While the Xbox 360 has most of my shooters and digital games this generation, I used the Wii to fill up the classic and non-shooter games for its collection. Favorite games include the No More Heroes series, LoZ Skyward Sword, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Punch-Out.

Not a huge PC or handheld gamer but started playing PC games once I got my own laptop in 2002 and it was due to Counter Strike. Ended up owning a GBA and DS for handheld games with Street Fighter II Turbo Edition (GBA) being my favorite overall.

NES: My parents bought my brother and I one the year it came out. Super Mario Brothers, Mike Tysons Punch Out, and some wrestling one...forget what it was. Had StarMan, Chile Con Carne and some others...

SNES: My father bought us one and it was fantastic.

N64: I bought this the year it came out while I was stationed in Germany. I had Mario64 and I think that was the only game I had till I got back stateside to Fort Drum. For some reason, I thought I misplaced the system, so I went out and got another one. 2 months later, my brother called and said he found my N64 in one of my boxes. Then I had two.

PS1: I 'acquired' one (friend of mine got stationed in Alaska and forgot to take his). I never heard from him again, so it became mine. Lots of good games, but preferred my N64 over it.

PS2: Bought one for the Metal gear Solid and Tomb Raider games.

Gamecube: Traded in the PS2 and a slew of games and got the 'Cube and a few wrestling games.

XBox360: Bought a preowned system for $350. Got about 5 months out of it before it RROD'd and I had to send it in. They sent me a brand new one. This was 2008, still currently have it. No issues since.

Wii: Got rid of the Gamecube since the Wii plays that too. Still have it, just don't use it much.

Gamecube #2: My wife found one at a yard sale. System with one controller and six games came out to $2. Good deal, so now it just sits because of the Wii. lol

NES - I remember when I got this, my parents bought it from my Uncle and Aunt who only really used it to play Duckhunt. I remember spending hours playing SMB3 and Yoshi's Cookie. Had a Megaman game that always used to screw up on me so I never got to finish it. Had this until I was probably 8 years old.

SNES - My uncle, aunts and mom got this for me when my dad was in jail. I was a fairly lonely kid as we lived in the boonies and I was a bit shy to boot. Used to play SMW, Mario Paint, Donkey Kong, Aladdin, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Jeopardy: Sports Edition. I remember playing a fishing game called Super Black Bass with my mom as well as Jeopardy. She was pretty good at both and she also beat Super Mario World as well. I had this system for a long time, think I only sold it 6 years ago. Really have the urge to get one and play a lot of the old classics I missed.

Sega Genesis - Played this one at a cousins place, loved the variety of games and Streets of Rage remains one of my favorite games ever. My mom and me finished it together, was really cool doing that. I used to play the ever loving fuck out of Columns with her as well. Remember playing like 6 hours straight once without losing. Was insane, our high scores spilled over onto the area where the blocks were landing. Sonic the Hedgehog as well. Can't remember if I ever finished it.

Gameboy - Normal Pokemon fanatic like every other kid.

PS1 - Grandparents and parents got this for Christmas, guy sold it for like $200 with 25 games, three controllers and four memory cards. Played the hell out of this as well, games like Driver 2, FF7, Tactics, MGS1, Medal of Honor.

N64 - My mom and dad used to go play cards at a friends place sometimes and I could go visit their neighbors (who was the friends daughter) and they had a son two years younger who had an N64. Used to play Pokemon Snap and Goldeneye with him. Eventually bought the system and games and thats when I discovered Zelda and that has made every game since disappoint me a little. Never played Mario 64. Might get one of these again, see them cheap in pawnshops all the time.

PS2 - I remember the Christmas I got this, I got SVR, San Andreas, Jet Li: Rise to Honor, Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando and Vice City. I played SVR for about 15 hours that day. Absolutely loved that game, then I got through San Andreas and beat it well over twenty times now. I haven't found a game with more replayability. Never get bored of it, great story, world and ways to have fun.

PS3 - Had this for a month, played and didnt care for Resistance. Sold it fairly shortly afterwards.

360 - Have this as my only current gen machine. Finished RDR, GTA4, Crackdown, Skyrim, DMC4, RE5, Bioshock and of the games I have left I need to finish, Mass Effect 1 and 2, Bioshock 2, Assassins Creed, Fallout 3, Dragon Age and Fable 2.

Well, sonouvabitch! I wrote a lot, and it didn't take. :(

Listing; abridged & redacted:

Telstar, Atari 2600 (4 switch "Stella" and 3rd black/silver slimine), Atari 800XL, Master System, Genesis, SNES, Gameboy[including pocket, color, SP, and DS] Game Gear.

PC - Introduced me to things through shareware, demos, and online play through AOL (Multiplayer Battletech: Solaris was great, until they employed a really stupid "by the hour" pricing model. People migrated to the GameStorm servers, which didn't have nearly the infrastructure of AOL even with dedicated gaming servers and from what I heard, it showed in reliablility... crashed more than AOL, which is saying something. Also, learned of emulators of arcades I enjoyed as a little kid and NES titles I may have missed..

Playstation, PS2, Dreamcast, N64, XBOX, Neo Geo Pocket Color, 360, and PS3.

Had descriptions and stuff, but they're gone now, and I'm not retyping all that jizz. Want any specifics on anything I listed, just ask me.

My parents bought a Coleco a long time ago. I remember beating Donkey Kong Jr. on it. I must have been 3 or so, but the game was easy to memorize, so it was the first game I beat. Couldn't get past the first level of that goddamn Smurfs game though. Always got stuck on one of the fences.

Sometimes later my parents bought us a NES and that's when I really became an addict. It hooked me big time on the Mario and Zelda series, which are still my two favorites to this day. Also remember playing Ice Hockey, Blades of Steel and Rampage with my brother. Spent way too much time on Solomon's Key without ever knowing what I was doing. Bubble Bobble was also incredible. I was also pretty good at Kid Icarus and Double Dragon. I tried Dragon Warrior but couldn't get far because I couldn't understand the English instructions.

True story: I learned English because of video games. Sure, they taught it in school, but not to the point where someone can truly have a conversation. Anyway, when I was young, I played the first Legend of Zelda, and it took me nearly two years to beat it because I couldn't read the clues ("Eastmost peninsula is the secret!") or the player's guide. I was subscribed to Nintendo Power anyway, which I was pretty useless when you think about it. I liked looking at the pictures, I guess. When the SNES came around, I didn't want to spend two years playing A Link to the Past, so each time someone in the game said something, I sat down with a dictionary and translated, doing a job about on par with Google Translate. It still worked, and it barely took me six months that time.

Back to the gaming history.

I got a Game Boy in the early 90's. Played Tetris and the first two Mario Land a whole lot. Played WWF King of the Ring too, even though it sucks when you think about it. Loved the Kirby series too. When I moved on to the Game Boy Color, I got Pokémon Red, Donkey Kong Land, James Bond 007, Wario Land, etc. I used to take that thing everywhere, even camping.

Got a SNES almost on day one. Played through Super Mario World in the first few months, then moved to A Link to the Past. That's when I started really getting into multiplayer gaming. I still prefer split-screen multiplayer to online these days. Played Super Mario Kart, Street Fighter 2, Street Racers, NBA Jam, NHL series, Super Baseball 2020 (BASEBALL WITH ROBOTS!), Donkey Kong Country, Stunt Race FX. We would rent games every week-end, so I played even the shitty games like Chuck rock, Bubsy and Aero the Acrobat. I remember that the kids from my school would come around after school to play NHL. We had a league set-up where every kid had a team and three created players. We had about 8 or 10 teams in the league at one point. I was the Avalanche because they were cool on their first season ever. We wrote down the scores and stats in the binder and made playoffs and everything. It was pretty sweet.

When the N64 was around the corner, I still held on buying one right away because I wanted to finish Super Mario RPG before going crazy with the new system. Still one of my favorite RPGs.

Then came the N64 during my high school years. Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64 and Goldeneye are still my top three games ever. In fact, if I think about it, the majority of my top 10 would be N64 games. Perfect Dark, the THQ wrestling games, Majora's Mask, Rampage World Tour, Mario Kart 64, NBA Hangtime, Wayne Gretzky Hockey, 1080 Snowboarding, Wave Race 64... I spent so much nights just playing video games on week-ends with my brother and my cousins. A lot of Goldeneye, but also the wrestling games. We would set a 40-wrestlers Battle Royal with only pinfall, submissions or TKO. When you know the trick to kick out of pinfalls in those games, you know it can take all night. Don't think I've had that much fun before or since. Definitely my favorite console of all time.

My high school years coincide exactly with the N64's life cycle. When I moved to college, I didn't have time or money to play anything new, so I just kept playing N64 games for a couple of years when I had free time, mainly the wrestling games, or replaying through Goldeneye and the Zelda games. Two years after I entered college, my brother bought a Gamecube because he had time to play and was tired of the same old games. He played mainly games like Gun, Freedom Fighters, X-Men Legends and Def Jam Vendetta. I bought Wind Waker and Super Mario Sunshine. Then together, we bought Mario Kart Double Dash and Rampage Total Destruction, continuing our lifelong obsession with the Rampage series. We still kept buying wrestling games like Day of Reckoning, but also the crazy one where you beat up construction workers as Brock Lesnar, as well as the grossly underrated Ultimate Muscle game.

In 2006, I was working, out of college, and had plenty of free time. I bought a Wii on release day with Twilight Princess and Excite Truck. I was hooked again. I have downloaded a shitload of Virtual Console games for the Wii. This also coincides with the period where I became a reviewer, so companies sent me a shitload of games for the Wii, going from the brilliant (Smash Bros. Brawl, Mushroom Men, Excite Bots) to the horrible (Heathcliff racing, shitty game show parodies, Colorz). I must have close to 50 Wii games because of that. I haven't even had time to play Skyward Sword yet, but it's on my list. Really love the Super Mario Galaxy games, as well as Donkey Kong Country Returns, and Super Mario Bros Wii, which is the perfect drunken party game as far as I'm concerned.

A year or so ago I caved in and bought a PS3 at my friends' request. I mainly play WWE All-Stars, Little Big Planet, NBA Jam On Fire, the NHL series and Fat Princess on it. I want to get Castle Crashers and 3D Dot Game Heroes, and I want to finish Dragon Age, Fallout 3, Deus Ex Human Revolution and Rage. It's a pretty good machine, I just think that as I'm getting older, I don't have as much time to play games as before, so I feel like I'm not using it to its full potential. I really want to get back into gaming more though as my time frees up.

In the middle of all of this, I have bought a DS and a DS Lite. Bought way more games than I would have expected for it, and also caught up on great GBA games I had missed. Mario Kart is once again a winner, same for New Super Mario Bros. The Zelda games on the system have been disappointing to me. Not bad, just not as good as what I expected. Bought an R4 a couple of years ago, which really helps when it comes to catching up fast to new games.

During that whole time I was also a PC gamer, starting with my first PC, a 486DX, which played DOOM, Worms, Aces of the Pacific, and a shitty Tetris clone that showed pictures of naked women as I completed lines. The 2D Worms games have been a constant ever since. Spent a lot of time playing Counter Strike in college, as well as the Quake series, the first two Call of Duty games, and the Star Wars Battlefront series. Love the Battlefront games, wish they would make more already. I'm also on Steam, played a lot of Left 4 Dead 2. Playing a lot of indy games because of it (Super Meat Boy, VVVVVV, Audiosurf), as well as shitty games that were sent to me for review (Heaven, Painkiller: Redemption).

...that's pretty much it.

Starts off with the NES as a young kid, I had the gun for Duck Hunt and loved it. Loved Mario as well, don't remember anything else.

Then comes of course, SNES which was amazing. So many great games, of course any Mario, Donkey Kong, played Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat (all of them for SNES), Zelda, so many hours of my young life spent with that system.

Then I believe my next would be the Sega Saturn, which I have vauge memories of, I remember Sega Knights... Road Rash (maybe?) and that's about it. Lost potential there.

Then the N64 which was another total winner, far and above the best yet.

I now probably start playing PC games, if not earlier.

And then I was able to get a Dream Cast which I was VERY DISAPPOINTED IN. I traded this for a PS1 and loved the world of Sony Games. Loved it. Loved the violent games most, and Final Fantasy 7.

Then of course we go to PS2, just a bigger better system than anything previous.

Then XBOX which I didn't love.

Then 360 which I do love.

Never got a Ps3 or Wii. Don't care too.
