View Full Version : TPWWs Ryan Clark smears another WCW/WWE legend

ChrisHarvard01

Months after Hollywood Hulk Hogan's comments regarding "almost joining Metallica" in the early days, TPWWs own sherlock holmes was on the case.

On 4/12 Ryan Clark released a statement that Lars Ulrich appeared on Howard Stern claiming "he didn't even know who Hulk Hogan was". Even going as far to elaborate stating, "if there was a whole thing that we had with him under a different name".

Harassing the sports legend via twitter demanding answers, the wrestling legend called clark a clown, to which Clark responed on TPWW referring to himself as "us". Apparently Clark feels attacking a legend and not getting the results he hoped for is a loss for... "us". :foc:

Ryan Clark, OF COURSE Lars Ulrich is going to deny the Hulkster ever was invited to join Metallica. Think about it! If you had an opportunity to sign one of the top draws in america and you let it slip through your fingers would you admit it? No way.

The fact that Lars says "he didn't even know who Hulk Hogan was" is a big fat lie, so how can you believe anything from this Lars guy?

Shortly after Hogan took the time to respond to Clark's heckling on twitter, Clark posts so called "news" that the Hulkster is selling his mansion for quote, "75% below his original asking price".:nono:

Ryan, this is a tough economy and Hulk Hogan cannot set an example in every single aspect he does. Not even the Hulkster can get market value.

Ryan Clark is out to smear any legend he can if they are a former WCW talent or a current TNA talent. But I suppose that is the cat's pajamas here at TPWW :n:

I'm not sure why TPWW is letting this guy run the news boards now-a-days.

This whole site and especially the boards is extremely PRO-WWE, not that I have anything against WWE but the fact most posters despise TNA, that's just not good for business.

(And forget about mentioning WCW they deserve NO KUDOs at this place for ANYTHING. Especially Eric Biscoff. Apparently he didn't even know what he was doing, he "stole" all his ideas. Vince is the only smart businessman LoL)

If Nash comes back to WWE everyone will rejoice, but when he goes to TNA suddenly the board will attack him as an old, washed up piece of shit and report what he sells his house for and portray all this friends as hating him.

Um...most people here don't care at all for Ryan Clark, so I don't know who you are talking to.

You should relentlessly PM Triple A, since he is the only one who can do anything about it.

No, what's "not good for business" is Impact Wrestling being shit.

Yes, people do get carried away with bashing it as the place where WWE washouts go without even watching it, but those that do watch it, or TRY to watch it die a little inside almost every time. They put on a good show (in what seems to be by complete accident) once in a blue moon, and that keeps those who brave viewing it on baited hooks hoping this is the moment it turns around for them. It's like watching the Cubs or Pirates on a winning streak.

How many angles have started and stopped for no reason? How many pushes derailed? How many people start to get over huge and then suddenly don't appear on TV anymore... or even released? How many former WWE stars will they bring in with the SAME "THE HOTTEST AQUISITON EVAR!!1!" SHIT? How many Impacts in a row will the main event and half the undercard have a finish muddied by run-ins or DQ's or something else that isn't a "pin 1-2-3"?

Again, what's "not good for business" is Impact Wrestling being shit.

Yes they did. And it wasn't as much sarcasm as you may think. Nostalgia and the potential promos he and Punk could have had blinded them to his bad stilts and diminished in-ring ability.

I'm pretty sure Clark runs a TNA website, and he usually makes up excuses on why TNA's ratings are low, so you're a bit off on that.

To make things clear, Metallica in the early days when Hulk would have been able to join , lands on the early 80's. By all accounts they had Ron McGovney followed closely by Cliff FN' Burton. Given the talent of both of these men(especially Cliff) from Los Angeles and later the Bay Area, its highly unlikely that Hulk Hogan, a so-so bassist from Florida and working in Minneapolis for the AWA would have the time or the talent to even share space with those guys, much less a rehearsal space. So while Lars is a dick, he has no problem acknowledging that he is and i'll take his word over a man who has lied to Arsenio hall of all people back in the day and is lying to us now everytime he hypes up Impact.

He may be overrated due to his tragic death, but there's no doubt that he was a hell of a bassist.

Rammsteinmad

Oh indeed, he was a good bassist, but I've always thought there are plenty of much better bassists out there. Obviously his death and the fact he was on Metallica's three most popular albums has something to do with it.

Morris Shelly needs to listen to more Progressive Rock, Progressive Metal, Jazz and Jazz Fusion if he thinks that overplayed 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' video makes Cliff Burton seem like some bass-playing prophecy.

Morris Shelly
04-14-2012, 06:52 PM
#3 needs to acknowledge that progressive masturbation isnt the point here, we are dealing with one of the worst successful pro wrestlers of all time and his claim to being offered a spot in Metallica. Granted Lars is a pretty simple drummer to play along to but given what hogan spent his time playing in his early days no way could he keep up in Metallica. that overplayed video is easier for the masses to swallow since his 8 or 9 minute video tributes are way too long and dont get the point across.

Rammsteinmad
04-14-2012, 06:54 PM
What, that he was overated?

Morris Shelly
04-14-2012, 07:01 PM
Honestly, I dont think he was. In the then burgeoning world of Thrash metal, where you dont have Jazz virtuosos from Berklee, but kids in jeans out of their garages, he stood head and shoulders above most of his peers, with enough talent for James, Lars and at the time, Dave, to relocate North to San Francisco which is still unimaginable as a concept. Personally im more partial to Steve Harris due to his unique sound, not unlike Korn, and his overall influence in the group as well as his daughter being amazingly hot.

Rammsteinmad
04-14-2012, 07:05 PM
I get your point, it's often something I mention when I say Jimi Hendrix isn't the 'best' player of all time. But Cliff died 25 or so years ago and obviously Bass playing has 'evolved' since then. For the time he may have been hot stuff, but I still think there were a many other players from that era, not just in Metal, that were much better than him. And of course, his death played a huge part in him being so legendary.

04-14-2012, 07:05 PM

Okay, okay, okay...

I don't have a personal vendetta against Ryan Clark, Hulk Hogan, or Lars Ulrich, but it seems asinine to suggest Clark is "smearing" a TNA superstar to get headlines. This story, from the time it broke, sounded like Hulk Hogan overexaggerating the truth to inflate his own ego.

This story first came through music outlets. The initial claim is that Hogan was *this close* to getting brought into Metallica. Ulrich responds by saying, "Oh, really? If I offered it I don't remember."

Hogan had not achieved wrestling superstardom when this purportedly went down, nor had Metallica peaked in any way, but this probably would've been publicised several years ago were it a legit news story. Metallica fans pine for worthless information about their band. Hulkamaniacs dig relentlessly to make their icon seem more, um, iconic. How could this have been ignored for so long?

Hogan made it sound like he and Ulrich were inseperable buds with this incredible musical bond. This hyperbole, which Lars did not reciprocate in the slightest, taints the story.

Its asinine to suggest Hogan was "smeared" because he got called out on an obvious half-truth. Frankly, the dude put himself in perfect position to be scrutinized here. Lars Ulrich isn't known for his quiet demeanor. The Dane tried to take down Napster for Christ's sake, so what does it matter if he discredits a wrestling legend at some point? Just saying.

Ryan Clark did nothing wrong. This time.

Not "good"; great bassist. But yes, his death def. elevated his, and theoretically the status of the bassist in general.

Kinda the musical version of "The Owen Effect".

Hulk Hogan is the one of the "worst successful wrestlers", what does that even mean?

I suppose the fantastic talent that was amazing on the mic, "the Outsider", takes #1 so I'd be curious to know how you rank bad successful talent in terms of 1-10.

Chris, if you want it on a 1-10 scale, lets take the top ten most succesful pro wrestlers of all time, fill it from whatever pool and whatever order you like but in my list Hulk Hogan would be #10. As far as how much money he drew, how much merchandise he sold and his charisma, the man was off the charts. Fantastic talker with an incredible look. To me, thats only half the package. Much like Cliff Burton and Jimi Hendrix before him, he has not aged well both literally and figuratively. His moveset from the get-go was limited. That may not be enough to discredit him to the average fan except for the fact that he was technically following Bob Backlund, an accomplished pro, and in his own era, was matched up with the likes of Randy Savage, Bret Hart and even Yokozuna, all men who could wrestle better and make for an entertaining match. As time went on, his limitations became much more pronounced and he hit the double whammy of being kept on top to the detriment of other talent becoming the de facto example of ego getting in the way of business. I wont take away from the fact that he was incredibly successful but since he is long LONG past his prime and after a divorce that has pushed him further down the list as to net worth, that is why as far as succesful wrestlers go, i ranked him the worst. Also, he likes to tell white lies every now and then that insult our intelligence as a whole but thats just my beef.

Here we go again, Chris Harvard is pissed because someone said something bad about Hulk Hogan! Pretty sure this was already in another thread. lol

Also, if you don't like this site, find another one to read and post on! Maybe go out and make your own and then you can steal all of his news to put on your site like it's your's. :)

And maybe, just maybe, if TNA didn't suck so badly, there would be more of a positive reaction to them on here.

But you did get something half right...Kevin Nash IS a washed up piece of shit(TNA or WWE) that just holds the young guys down because his ego won't let him put them over. Keep holding on to that spotlight, Big Kev. haha
