has there ever been an instance where they had these no name jay-brones involved in one of these squash matches actually win, or put up a great match? i know the whole point of these are to get the one guy over by destroying some pisshat..just curious if there has ever been a squash match, or person who belongs in a squash, win, or do good..

Gillberg and Brooklyn Brawler but they were both 'name' jobbers.

Cena was a no-name turd when he wrestled Kurt Angle. Now he's just a turd.

don't really think guys that are actually under a contract doing well in a perceived squash match as a way to get them recognized should really count

Unfortunately these rules weren't specified at the start of the contest so no take-backs.

Way back when in NWA/WCW there was a tag team of brothers, called the Mulkey Brothers, who were always squashed and they won a few matches against a big tag team, whom I can't remember.

I think Goldberg VS Hugh Morris was meant to com across as a jobber squash match (goldberg being the assumed victim in order to enhance the surprise and appeal.

If thats what you mean

As far as doing amazingly well in the match but still losing goes Al Snow vs Triple H comes to mind

Jimmy Jacobs is undefeated in WWE squash matches, despite never delivering an offensive maneuver.

Snitsky was supposed to get squashed by Kane on his debut.
Gunner Scott beat Booker T when he was supposed to get squashed. He didnt last long in the WWE after though.

Referring to his match with Eddie Guerrero, who brainbustered him onto the floor.

It wasn't his fault Kane screwed up.

Goldberg vs. Steve Regal, I think that was supposed to be more of a squash match, but instead Regal just chain-grappled Goldberg making him look shit and then got fired.

When Jake Roberts was in the feud where he got blinded by Rick Martel, he took a loss to a jobber named Tom Stone when he "came back too early."

To be fair, Regal just wanted to see how legit Goldberg was.

Stan Hansen lost a lot of jobber matches by DQ in WCW, because he would just brutalize them and then whip them with his bullrope.

A pre-Flock Billy Kidman pinned Jerry Flynn on WCW Saturday Night with a cross body despite getting manhandled the entire five prior minutes of the match.

Also, MsChef versus any Gateway Championship Wrestling opponent NOT named Sean Vincent. Delirious and 3-way dances were the means by which the bookers made it logical for her to hold the GCW Lightweight belt for almost half a year.

Curd
05-04-2012, 09:06 PM
"Irish Luchador" Billy McNeil and a pre-WWE Matt Sydal would destroy Delirious and MsChef in tag matches only to lose after Delirious hit a schoolboy, 'Chef piled on, and the pin is broken up a second too late. Of the three, only McNeil has not shown up in ROH or in a bigger promotion.

Also, the team of Reckless Youth and Don Montoya (two of the top contenders for Jersey Pro Wrestling at the time) jobbed to the retired Fabulous Moolah and Mae Young. According to Youth, it was "payback for having been pushed earlier." I suppose the lesson is to get out of an indy promotion once your push ends because the bookers can be very mercurial. (DTTS will love that word.)

Poor Turd. Does he really think big emotions come from big words? He thinks I don't know the ten-dollar words. I know them all right. But there are older and simpler and better words, and those are the ones I use.

Oh yes, how could I forget when Steve Corino's 8-YEAR-OLD son pinned Don Montoya in a December 1, 2001 UWC tag match. Corino wrote about it on his blog at the time to put over how much of a "team player" DM was, but the closest link I can find verifying this is about 4/5ths down the page under the "Random Results" heading:

Also, Eric Bischoff versus Reid Fleihr, although that was a mere confrontation and not a match. (How would someone get away with bumping a minor in a pro wrestling match, anyway? I guess rollups would be the only offensive / defensive maneuver permissible.)

CSL
05-06-2012, 09:04 PM
they'd get away with it because it's a work. That would be like somebody getting into trouble for simulating violence towards a minor in a film.

Mr. Nerfect
05-06-2012, 09:38 PM
I don't know, CSL. If there's any risk at all that a child could get hurt, I think there would be certain people who would sound certain alarms.

Also, is Reid Flair still training to be a professional wrestler?
