Laughing at this from 2010:
http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/450292/75_movie_remakes_and_reboots_currently_in_the_works.html

If there's a list already, would love to see it. How many films that we love have not been slated for remake?

There are a few on that list I would love to see and others I want to kill whom decided a remake would be a good idea.

Some of this is pretty 'out there' though. To say 'American Pie Reboot' gives the impression they're completely restarting the series from scratch, when really they wish to just kick-start another series of films with all the original actors.

But yeah, a lot of these have been circulating for fucking years and years now. 'Escape from New York' and 'Spawn' are two that come to mind.

I can't stand all these recent reboots/remakes over the last few years, but I don't think we really have a problem until Star Wars is remade.

My wife really loved Drop Dead Fred, I'm kind of indifferent. Still...don't understand why they need a remake.

Your wife has excellent taste. In movies at least.:p

Well, do you really want to see them "ruin" it?

It might be an improvement, like the updated Star Wars films or Rollerball:shifty:

I wouldn't mind them remaking it honestly, until they cast Russel Brand or the like, i loved it as a kid but wouldnt consider it blasphemy, at least its an older movie.

I dunno. While it was my favourite movie as a kid, there's not a lot for them to fuck up there.

"Amazed" that the Matrix isn't on there.

Anyways, glad to see no Kubrik movies getting remade.

Some remakes are really good.. True Grit was excellent..

Alot of stories people think are originals are reincarnations of old stories and lore anyway..

Looking through that list theres a bunch that have actually been made, they can all burn in hell with the Crow and Battle Royale though.

So y'all are bitching about things being remade, yet The Crow gets praised, even though it was based on a comic book..

Battle Royale was a novel, before it was a movie..

Stories have been recycled for years, it's just now they are more blatant about it..

I dont think anyone disputed that. I dont even think every remake is a terrible idea,True Grit was amazing and based more on the book than the movie, but the original was about 50 years old, sci fi films especially look dated and would benefit from being rebooted. Battle Royale isnt that old a movie and would be censored and toned down to the point that it would be pointless. Its early i cant think of another word for pointless.

I'm not friends with writers/producers.. They are "above the line", I am not..

Hollywood has been rehashing ideas for years, it's just that now they are much more blatant..

They prolly just want to make an American version, which has happened with most popular Japanese movies already..

This thread is about movies that haven't been remade yet. All sorts of classic movies were based on books and plays.

Aside from films that were made in the past couple of years I don't know of any big list of "major films" that have yet to be remade.

Heard they were working on that, actually.

They've been "working on it" for like five years now. I think this is one of those movies that's probably going to be lost in production Hell.

Not that it will never be released, just I'll be surprised if it sees a timely release, since it never seems to get past the scripting phase (at best).

Was he? I can't remember with all the rumours and shit that circled it.

He seemed to be attached to every action movie at one point so not sure how much truth there was too it.

The Rock to star in Birth of a Nation remake?

Kane Knight
04-22-2012, 11:53 AM
I'd like to see the Rock reunite with Sean William Scott for an Army of Two movie (since they're making one anyway). I think they could pull off the cheesiness and the strong gay undertones well.
