OPEN FIGHT NIGHT!!!

At the Impact! Wrestling tapings, Hulk Hogan announced that once a month, TNA will be "Open Fight Night," which means that someone from outside TNA wrestling will get to compete on the show, and a panel of judges and Hulk Hogan will get to decide whether or not that person earns a contract.

Also, on Open Fight Night, if you are challenged to a match, you must accept -- and that includes champions.

That and the TV title being defended every week.

Not too shabby on paper, but...

It is TNA, they will fuck it up.

Kind of a cool idea. No confidence that they'll do it right but I hope they do.

But isn't like the main criticism of TNA that they have a great roster that they never use?

If I may praise TNA a little, having the TV title defended on Impact every week is an awesome idea.

Robbie E on TV every week! YE..

ugh

Droford
04-17-2012, 11:40 PM
Also, if you are one of these challengers, why the hell wouldn't you challenge one of the champions every week?

Oh wait, this is TNA. I could see where one of these challengers pulls an upset and wins the TNA title only to be told by Hogan "Sorry brother, you just dont have what it takes to hang in TNA dude..we're going to need that belt back brother"

The idea is cool,

I mean if they guys that we actually care about.

But I agree that the whole idea is flawed, if I told this, I'd be going straight after Bobby Rooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

i'd challenge velvet sky to an oil wrestling match

Hogan : "you know what brother, you've got something there, it's a yes from me"

Simon Cowell: "what the hell was that?, i haven't seen wrestling this wooden since Moppy faced Pepe in a Singapore cane/ tables match.....it a definite no from me"

Good looking girl judge: "you are what this competition is all about"........*inspirational music starts* "but......im going to have to say yes" *inspirational music key change*

Who are they going to get in for this outside of former WWE guys. They will probably just use this to bring Jeff Jarrett and Eric Bischoff back while giving Chris Masters and Carlito a one off pay day.

whiteyford

Itd be a good way to introduce guys they are interested in signing from abroad or as a way to kick start the world x cup again but like Ultra Mantis said it'll probably to give the Ring Ka King guys a payday and not much else.

probly the ovw guys, thats a good way to bring in the young guys with older guys like masters and chavo too.

Alright, because this is TNA, Imma set the Over/Under on the number of weeks this idea lasts before it's dropped at 6......PLACE YOUR BETS!

While I would be tempted to challenge the champ, I think I might rather go for AJ or just a work horse that would make me look even better in the ring.

Wonder how unscripted this would be.

yeah i say it will last all summer like the bound for glory thing last summer, just long enough to bring in the young wrestlers, i just wish someone other then devon had the tv belt, you know rob-t will end up with that belt.

Sounds like Hogan just got around to watching Tough Enough.

While at first it sounded interesting, I wont care about seeing a random douche who no one has ever heard of save that maybe he is a stiff who hurts himself or Garret Bischoff for my viewing pleasure. It does open the possibility that we see someone we have heard of though.....

Sounds like a wrestling version of X Factor.

IDK.

Xero

Didn't they already do this? Or was that ROH?

Xero
04-18-2012, 11:57 AM
And yeah, the idea itself is cool but they have an enormous roster of guys who could/should be used week to week and aren't. This is just another way to make the show all about Hogan and more than likely more former WWE guys. It'd be interesting if they brought in some Dragon Gate and ROH guys, but that obviously won't happen.

This actually makes sense, like Droford and Youell said, why wouldnt you go for a champion and it gives someone a rub if they did and won the title, brings them in with an angle at least.

The idea sounds good on paper especially since it could lead to good indie and I think OVW wrestlers showing up on TNA but knowing TNA its going to be a shitty version of Tough Enough or American Idol.

They could use it to repackage some guys on the roster they barely use but doubt they'd even consider it.

Mr. Nerfect
04-18-2012, 06:03 PM
I agree with those who say the logic is there to challenge the champion. What this means is that Ken Anderson comes out on Impact! Open Fight Night and wants a match with Bobby Roode...he gets it. What if James Storm wants to face Bobby Roode the same night?

I like the idea of the TV Title being defended every week, but it should have been that way from the start. Look for Devon to beat D'Angelo Dinero and Robbie T. before dropping the belt off to Crimson, to really get his streak going.

I have no problem with this "talent hunt," and I assume that fresh talent won't be able to challenge the champions. Chavo Guerrero, Chris Masters and Carlito all making appearances would be pretty cool, as would some foreign talent or guys from the indies. Out of all of it, that's probably my favourite outcome. The idea of "judges" seems weird to me, though.

Also, for whatever reason, I see Eric Bischoff returning under a mask or something to try and earn back a TNA contract.

Crimson's streak means nothing, the TV belt is garbage, and TNA is the worst wrestling company in existence today. Yes, worse than CZW.

I love the sound of this, but obviously being that they are TNA they will make it suck. I'll watch it once or twice just to see though.

The thing is, I hate so many of their shitty wrestlers it makes it even HARDER HARD to watch a whole episode.
