I don't get why they have to change a wrestlers personality when they turn face. I mean sometimes I do, but not here. It happens all the time in the divas division. Almost every face diva is the same boring personality.

They have turned Sheamus into a WWE Diva, imo.

The whole reason he got over in the first place is that he was a no-nonsense, ass kicking, celtic fucking warrior. He is like an Irish Triple H.

But then he turned face, and transformed into this boring generic guy who smiles all the time, and cracks jokes.

Celtic fucking warriors do not smile. Celtic fucking warriors do not crack jokes. He just seems like he lost a lot of that intimidation factor to me. He reminds me of face mark henry.

That makes me fucking cringe every time I see it. Mark Henry should not be grinning like a fucking idiot, head bobbing to his music. He should be demolishing people with a "YOU GONNA GET RAPED" expression whether he is a heel or a face.

Same goes for Sheamus.

Do we have to talk about it? it's pretty depressing.

Was ready to not give a damn about his reign until Sunday. Such a fantastic match despite his character being shit.

I've already commented on this in other threads. He was becoming a unbelievable mega heel until Mark Henry ran out of people to fight on Smackdown. Mark Henry's great push to mega-heel made Sheamus the odd man out.

Then they pretty much had to pretend that it was the plan and make it a full fledged face turn and push him to the World title.

I hope Del Rio wins the title. Would rather hear him talk about destiny every other sentence, than watch this boring Sheamus face run any longer.

Remember when Sheamus kicked Hornswoggle in the face?

That was awesome.

He's still pretty over. I'm still a fan.

Irish Cena is boring.

I've expressed my thoughts on face Sheamus before.

But the gist of my throughts is this....

I'm not interested in Sheamus anymore. I find him boring and repetitive, and I really hate his "stories" about his "family members", Ireland and I also hate his crowbarring of the word "Arse" into almost everything he says.

And that's that. But I'll also say this about faces in the WWE. If you're a big guy, and you're a heel, then you're shown to be a monster who'll "fuck shit up". But if you turn face, you seem to just become this constantly smiling idiot and you pick up a love for children.

Sheamus
Mark Henry
Big Show
Brodus Clay
Ezekiel Jackson
The Great Khali

They are all guys who, as heels, were monsters who you wouldn't want to piss off. Now, they're all faces (bar Henry) who constantly smile and love to interact with the kids to some degree.

Ryback is a monster who you don't want to piss off and is a face I guess

then again he beats up people who weigh 100 pounds

I think they should turn him heel. They should make him die his hair black and talk with an English accent and change his name to Chappy Cobblestone, winner of English NXT.

Then what would Wade Barrett do? You've not thought this all the way through.

But for the record The Great Khali and Zeke sucked as both heels and faces. Brodus didn't have enough time to teill if he was going to be a good heel.

The best thing about Sheamus' run as a face is that when he goes back to being a heel, he'll have that much more heat. Sheamus has a lot of untapped potential, a lot of charisma.

If he turns back heel they will be admitting that him as a face was a mistake. I don't think they are willing to admit they made a mistake.

I want to be able to sing his theme song again in chat. It's a Sheamful thing lobsterhead...too many limes....too many limes... :( :'(

I'm not saying he's going to be turned heel tomorrow, but it will eventually happen. Right now it won't, because Smackdown needs top faces with Undertaker and Rey Mysterio being out, so it probably won't happen for a little while.

SlickyTrickyDamon

Mysterio is a Raw guy right now if I remember correctly.

It's also the fact that they could have had a great face in Christian but turned him heel instead. Christian had a good amount of momentum from being the World Champion and Edge retiring. Could have been pretty awesome to have Christian as a face-champion for awhile. Even though I liked the One-More-Match Christian it could have been better with him being a top face and keep Sheamus as a monster heel.

I'm sure your gimmick has been done before. And it really wasn't funny then.

Sheamus can still get it done in the ring, and I enjoy watching him.

Outside of the ring, though, he has lost almost all of his charm. His initial face turn was good. He was just a monster of a dude, standing up to another monster... mainly because of the fun/challenge of it.

Now he has become one of the most generic faces.

Sheamus sucks on an orange nutsack as a face.

He is SO boring.

Ugh. He is only good as a heel. Like when he kicked hornswoggle

There are times when I think Sheamus is absolutely brilliant as a babyface. Like this week on SmackDown!. Working with the best in-ring guy in the WWE has allowed Sheamus to tell some great stories, and this current "one-armed guy in an ass kicking contest" thing has legs. It's creating doubt as to whether or not Sheamus can beat Alberto Del Rio. But the WWE is often doing that thing where anything the babyface does is glorious, even though if a heel did it, they would be presented as a bad guy.

For example:

* Kicking poor Chad Patton in the face

* Telling lame jokes

* Kicking a guy before he is ready for a match

But when you really look at the guy's body of work, he's absolutely thriving as a top babyface on SmackDown!. His work in the ring and his confidence on the mic are really up there. It's a hard job and Sheamus is proving he can handle it.

On a side not, I do think that Christian's heel turn was too sudden. Don't get me wrong, Christian is great, and his series of matches with Orton were great; but I do think the WWE rushed through the stages of the feud too quickly. In my opinion, Christian should have probably retained the World Heavyweight Title in his first match against Orton, to at least give him a chance to get on even playing field with the top stars. You don't need to have him slaughter Orton -- a roll-up win would have done fine. The next match between Christian and Orton (which Christian would have granted, because he was a fighting champion) could have ended in a double disqualification when Mark Henry and Sheamus got involved. A tag match victory for Christian & Orton later and you have a Fatal 4-Way at Capitol Punishment which Christian wins when he uses the World Title to clock Henry or Sheamus in the head and pin them. It's not a heel turn, but it shows Christian to take advantage of situations.

Basically, you don't have Orton take the World Title until Money in the Bank or SummerSlam, and have things spiral out between the two from there. And hell, if Christian caught on as a babyface, you might not have needed to turn him heel.

Before his return this year, I would have suggested that Christian actually return as a babyface. He's entertaining enough to ride the return pop in that sort of direction, and I think there is more of a need for babyfaces than heels at the moment. Also, Daniel Bryan is playing a very similar sort of character. But with Christian returning and getting taken out by CM Punk (in kayfabe), I think a feud between those two would be absolutely incredible. Christian would technically be the heel, but he could play some sort of "victimised" character that points out all the terrible things CM Punk has done over the years. I'd rather see that than Punk vs. Tensai, for example.

Yeah, there were legs in Christian as a face, with the "feel good" win and coming off the back of Edge's retirement. But, whatevs.

Sheamus is doing fine as a babyface. Can't help but feel this is a case of the "IWC never being happy". People here were clamouring for a face turn for Sheamus - or at the very least remarking how good a face he would be. Now people are bored with it.

To be fair, he is often boring. He's by no means bad at what he does -- the guy can both wrestle and talk -- it's just a case of character and situation.

Right now, I'm actually interested in Sheamus, though. His feud with Del Rio draws upon some interesting dynamics. Both are "international superstars," both had extremely quick rises in the WWE (winning the WWE Championship in their first year), they've won the past two Royal Rumbles, etc. Without getting too fancy, a feud between the two of them could be built up as a pretty special showcase. Unless Del Rio wins, however, I really would not want to see the feud continue too long.

I'm still hoping for my Del Rio vs. Hunico feud, dammit!

Sheamus was doing great as a face until they stuck him in a feud with Jinder Mahal. That guy could suck the overness out of anybody.

I actually agree there. Mahal is still a kid, and he's got presence, but there's just something...awkward about him. I don't care. At all. And I like everybody.

I don't mind Sheamus being a face right now, but I agree that he doesn't have to smile like some kind of faggot either.

Have him act similarly to Randy Orton or even how Triple H is now (i.e. a serious no nonsense face that can beat someone down).

I support the idea of Sheamus being face, but have him be a bit more......."grumpier." :)

I think Sheamus makes a good face, intense, and his personality didnt change that much.

I agree for the most part, but I also agree with Fignuts that he sometimes "smiles" a little too much......and it takes away from the intensity of his character. It is a minor thing but for the most part, I've been happy with Sheamus' face run.

Being an Irish version of Triple H is actually a good thing in my opinion. I would just like to see him be a bit more intense.
