F-Zero. Watching Speed Racer in the cinema, I thought it looked a lot like F-Zero in the racing scenes. I never watched the anime but I thought Speed Racer drove around mountains and through deserts, not in neon lit hovering courses with corkscrews and loops etc.
Metroid.
Super Mario Bros if it was totally CGI.
Maniac Mansion if it was done as a comedy/horror that poked fun at 80's horror and B-Movies.
Zombies Ate My Neighbours as a slightly more child friendly alternative to MM. Focusing more on the 90's.
I'll probably think of more later.

Sorry to hear that, but I think there's a trilogy there.

If they felt brave enough they could pull a "Wall-E" and have the film pretty much speechless. Relying on expressions, actions and music to tell the story.
Otherwise I'd be brought to tears when I heard Link speak like a kid from the OC or like Prince William.

Pretty much.
Most games I like generally I'd be cautious about a film of. I've not really enjoyed most of Hollywood's output for about 5 years.

Link himself could be mute. Zelda would have to talk.
Drakul
05-07-2012, 02:20 PM
My big issue is accents. I just know they'd give a "Royal family" accent to all the characters purely because it involves princess', swords and sheilds.
If they didn't do that, the only alternative Hollywood seems to see is to have everyone use an American accent.
Looking at the influences through out the series, a lot of what we see in the games is taken from Celtic myth more than anything.
I had a small site where I was trying to catalogue these things a few years ago. Celtic, particularly Scottish, pretty much ran away with it when it came to influences. From music to enemies, even certain characters or their outfits.
I know they'd never do a Scottish or even Irish accented Zelda film.

Sims could be a horror movie where one guy suddenly realizes that he is not hallucinating, and that things do vanish without him wanting to. He goes to swim but the ladder disappears from the pool. Door vanish. There's also this problem where his wife goes to work but he does not know where. He follows her one day to notice that she just disappears into a void when they reach the end of the street. Someone is out to get him, but WHO?
Then at the end he realizes someone out there is controlling his life. The movie ends when his wife leaves him cause he neglected her, so he tries cooking himself a meal for the first time in his life. The oven bursts into flames because he did not have the skill points necessary, and he dies in a fire.

Metroid if done right could have potential, as long as Samus isn't given much dialogue (certainly not the dialogue that made her act like a brat at time in Metroid Other M) and get a athletic woman to play Samus outside of her Power Suit and maybe some scenes of Samus in the Power suit that don't involve heavy action

The could do heavy action scenes in the power suit by using CGI, like the Iron Man films. They'd be using CGI for Ridley and other creatures anyway.

I would cream myself if they made this. I think this is one of the best fuckin' video games ever made, but dammit, please don't bother to make it if you're not gonna make it right. i.e. Make it how the game is. Keep all the same characters, and all the same gangs. I'd be okay with adding a clown gang since the game was going to have them. And we'd have to have Piggsy!
Ideally, I'd like to see this movie be "Escape from New York" meets "The Warriors" meets "Friday the 13th". Making it 3-D would be cool too. Have the whole film take place at night. No daytime shots at all. Make it dark, gritty, and violent as hell.
Most likely, they'd turn James Earl Cash into some misunderstood hero who gets framed, and I'd be okay with that. Even though it's not apart of the game's story, I'd welcome that. Get some 30-something year old unknown actor to play Cash, and have Cash be some famous ex-sniper for the Marines, then have Starkweather set him up for murder. Like maybe he frames him for the murder of the President, or some higher up, which gets Cash sent to Death Row, which gets Cash into the hands of Starkweather who likes Cash because he knows he's good at killing. Of course, I wouldn't bitch if they kept it like the game and just made how Cash he is in the game, and is just a serial killer who's origins are unknown.
I did mention I'd like to see an unknown actor as cash, but if the producers needed a bankable name to play the part, I'd suggest Jason Statham or Christian Bale. I'd also love to see Stone Cold Steve Austin play the leader of the Nazi gang, the Skinzs, and have Samuel L. Jackson as Ramirez, and I'd say keep Brian Cox for Starkweather. He already does the voice in the game, and I think during the whole movie, the way Starkweather should be used should be like how the killers in "When A Stranger Calls" or "Phone Booth" were used where we only hear Starkweather's voice through out the film, and don't actually see him until the end, and you could use any actor then to play the physical role of Starkweather.
If I had total creative control, I'd love to see Robert Rodriguez in the director's chair and have him write the screenplay. I'd need an R-rating too so the film can have lots of cursing and lots of blood and violence, and then when the blu-ray comes out, give it the "unrated snuff edition".
.....Too bad none of this is going to happen. lol. And it's not that heartbreaking. I'm happy with the game alone.

I think I could do a decent 'Hollywood friendly' Guitar Hero but I'd need a partner for the comedic bits.
Zelda I would love to write, but there's no way most of you would like how I'd do it. Link would be mute, with Navi doing most the talking in a similar vein to Master Chief and Cortana's set-up. Zelda, the King, and Ganondorf would speak normally, of course. It would fuse elements of Link to the Past for structure and recent Zelda games for content. I would do everything in my power to include a chicken revolt scene.
I could do Soul Calibur in my sleep, but I could only choose one of the three main eras of the series. Sophitia starring, Kilik starring, or Seigfried starring. Won't bother with the Patroklos era, it would be polarizing, I think.

The movie would be a big metaphor where the cast are all essentially pieces who are forced to work together for a museum in Russia. It isn't until the character representing the line piece joins that they begin to extend the time needed to open an American museum in Russia before they lose their lease to a local mafia.
Character driven comedy.

I have "stolen" some dialogue that I have read here on TPWW from people such as Anybody Thrilla and CTS and put them into a script. So I don't really need to hire CTS, I could just ask him a question and he'd just naturally give a response.
