Dishonored casts you as a supernatural assassin driven by revenge. You are the once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress. Framed for her murder, you become an infamous assassin, known only by the disturbing mask that has become your calling card. In a time of uncertainty, when the city is being besieged by plague and ruled by an oppressive government armed with strange technologies, dark forces conspire to bestow upon you abilities beyond those of any common man.

In Dishonored, creatively eliminate your targets with the flexible combat system as you combine the numerous supernatural abilities, weapons and unusual gadgets at your disposal. Pursue your enemies under the cover of darkness or ruthlessly attack them head on with weapons drawn. The outcome of each mission plays out based on the choices you make.

Oh, yeah. This is the game I was hyped for until I saw it was first person.

Steampunk Assassin's Creed + Mirror's Edge?

I was always big on first person except with games like Red Dead Redemption, Fable, Mass Effect, etc...

Personally, I'd think parkour/stealth/assassination games would come low on the list.

Yes, before someone says something retarded, I'm aware of Mirror's Edge.

Didn't a lot of people hate Mirror's Edge?

Didn't a lot of people hate Mirror's Edge?

It was well-received by fans and critics, but the general agreement tended to be that it was beloved despite first person mechanics, not because of them.

Well, not me. I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much were it in third person. It was a different experience, and I didn't seem to have the same problems other people did with judging the jumps.

This game is one of the reasons that I'm not completely pissed off about Bioshock Infinite being delayed into 2013. Less competition for my play time and all.

I can get into this.

It's Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Assassins' Creed thrown into a blender.

Looks pretty "MEH :|", tbh. The sooner Bethesda gets this and the TES MMO out of the way the better. Maybe then they'll start working on something worth my attention like a Fallout 4 or something along those lines.

Just watched the two gameplay trailers on IGN, one showing how a stealth walkthrough, and the other showing a "violent" walkthrough. Looks amazing IMO. Usually I'm not into First-Person games at all (never interested in CoD or Skyrim etc, last FPS I played was legitimately Perfect Dark for N64) but this does it for me. The way you can combine your powers or even get rid of targets without killing them should add to the replay factor.

You should play Deus Ex: Human Revolution if you like this.

What a difference less than a day makes - reviews are now rolling in and they are massively positive.

88 score on Metacritic so far, with only 1 mixed review out of 30 odd.

Pretty awesome game, beat it already. Brilliant execution, could have been longer though. Gameplay is tight and the story isn't bad but kind of predictable.

Need to get this. Already bought way too many games this month before I noticed this looking good. But soon, my sweet. Soon.

Maybe then they'll start working on something worth my attention

Some details about DLC was revealed with the first pack coming in December and then a couple more in the Spring of 2013. Bethesda also said each DLC pack will launch simultaneously on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

There are three add-ons coming for Dishonored in the months ahead. First up? December's Dunwall City Trials, a $4.99 add-on promising to push the players who've mastered Dishonored’s skills, and test their mettle. There are new achievements and the introduction of leaderboards, all set against players in ten different locations that include arenas with waves of enemies and time trials.

The way more exciting add-ons aren’t coming until next year, since they involve more stories in the Dishonored universe. The Whalers is scheduled for next spring, and involves new environments in Dunwall, in addition to new weapons, powers, and gadgets. The Whalers are a set of supernatural assassins, and I’m looking forward to possessing and killing them.

Details on the story-driven third add-on are being kept under wraps until sometime next year, though.

With parkour elements no less. I don't know. I've found myself softening on FPP games, but stealth/parkour still seems like a really bad idea.

With a Bioshock skin, it seems. A lot of people are drawing that comparison.

I should give HR a shot.

Gameplay is definitely more influenced by deus ex, though more than just the art direction takes it's cue from bioshock. Some of the rune powers and weapons would fit right in with Rapture.
