...likes CM Punk. Thinks he is awesome. My dad isn't really a wrestling fan, other than I think having a bit of a soft spot for it, out of nostalgia. He's a 56 year old South African man who spends most of his nights watching cricket... and enjoys Grey's Anatomy? :wtf:
I don't really talk much wrasslin with the pops, as I don't watch all that much of it anymore... I keep up with the raw and smackdown reports, and watch good matches when they're reported... so I haven't really "Sold" him on CM Punk. Although I do like him, I'm not an uber Punk mark. I like that he can you know... actual wrestle, and takes that aspect of his art seriously. Also like that he's gotten in better shape recently.
But pretty much from what I've gathered; my dad sees him as intelligent, and likes the fact that he clearly not on the juice and the antithesis of a WWE "superstar" as it were.
Why would a 56 year old South African man like CM Punk? What has made Punk burst through the glass ceiling and although he's no John Cena... he's still somewhat of a household name (we ffs he IS the champ after all). I feel even when he's forced to partake in crap WWE "angles" (if you can call them that) he still finds a way to have great matches, and add a bit of his own pinache, no matter how much they try bury him in shit. Essentially he brings legitimacy to the business. I think even for a casual like my dad, it is easy to pick up on that.
