View Full Version : Which legend will Heath "The One Man Job" Slater job to next?

Mr. C

Good to see Slater was used to put over another legend. What or who is next for him? I really do hope whoever they bring back next week at least gets booked for a match.

Legends - 3
Slater - 1

Even in the role of jobbing to legends, I can't like Slater. He's a fine wrestler, he's got a terrible look and he's cringe-worthy on the mic. Those traits don't lend themselves to a gimmick that is based on verbal arguments with legends leading to squash matches or no match at all. They lend themselves to putting on good matches on Superstars against the rest of the curtain jerkers and maybe getting a 5 minute opportunity to job every once in a while on one of the major shows.

Pretty much. After the hoopla of the 1000th episode is over, poor Heath Slater will be back on Superstars if he's lucky.

The reason he "gets" to job is because he is just so god damn unlikable. Putting a trusty heel like Ziggler or even a reliable face like Ryder would get a lackluster reaction on live TV. Someone who everyone just hates like Slater is a guaranteed way to get a positive reaction for the returning guy and gives the One Man Band a little bit of coating for his career.

yeah he is getting real heel heat, i am liking him, but i think he will last past the 1000 ep. he is there new chavo or brawler, he will be the heel jober that faces will beat up.

He needs to further the one man band character, like how the west texas rednecks and 3 count furthered their characters. Coming to the ring in standard wrestling gear singing will only get him so far

I guess somebody has to be the Chavo. Once this legends routine is finished they can just stick him in an eagle costume and push Jack Swagger.

hopefully that singing was a one time thing, allthough they could bring back jimmy hart and that would be a killer stable.

Slater brings a Miz level of aggravation when he's on T.V, and that a good quality that many heels don't have. He's very dislike able.

His song was mint though.

I love Heath Slater. I don't think he's the best performer ever, and he still seems somewhat awkward on the microphone, but in the ring he is good, and when it comes to making people look good, he is mint. Slater is being given the role to make these oldies look good, and it's got to be an honour for him to get in the ring with all these legends and celebrities and have a good time.

That idea of Zack Ryder & Heath Slater forming a tag team with Kelly Kelly as their manager is absolutely amazing, though. Bring in Mr. Belding to show up now and then for segments with them. It would be absolutely tremendous and be a great way to segue Slater from irritating heel into likeable awkward babyface. Then comes the turn on Ryder, who Slater defeats en route to getting people to hate him all over again. The cycle continues.

1 - Get the fans to hate him
2 - Make others look good/put people over

I think he's doing a pretty damned good job of both.

I've decided that Heath Slater should be a heel that acts like a babyface. His face promos are somehow less awkward than his heel promos. Just have him act like everyone wants to see him and is part of the Slater Squad. He can be that annoying guy that always shows up to the party.

Michael Cole marked out for Slater coming out on SmackDown!. It's a pretty hilarious gimmick. Cole should start to manage Slater full-time, I think. He should leave the booth for Slater's matches and just celebrate at ringside with him.

Slater sells brilliantly as well. Wrestling these legends he has made these older, slower guys look like they could hang and are equal and above him. He is talented, just wish he had more of a character to play to.

I would be happy to be in his position. Wrestling these legends and being on the flagship show is better than being relegated to superstars with no plan or direction.

Really like this idea...taking it further, he could take part in face celebrations over title wins and stuff....make triumphant run ins to save faces in beatdowns (unsuccessfully)...

This was my answer.

Although not really a legend, it'd pretty good if Slater was in the ring talking about how people mock him and say he's not cool, how his voice isn't cool, his hair isn't cool, his ring gear isn't cool. Calling the crowd clueless, they don't know what's cool and "if what they say is 'cool' is actually cool...then I don't want to be cool."

Diamond Dallas Page.

In speaking to several sources, Wrestling-News.Net can confirm that the former 3-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion will be facing off against Heath Slater on WWE RAW tomorrow night from the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas.

We noted exclusively on the website on June 12th that Diamond Dallas Page along with Sid Vicious and Charles Wright (Kama Mustafa, Papa Shango and The Godfather) had been contacted about making an appearance on the 1,000th edition of WWE RAW. Sid Vicious (Sycho Sid) was used on last week’s edition of the show as a legend from the past, defeating Slater and is expected to appear at the big 3-hour show on July 23rd also.

Big Spoiler on who slater possibly will be facing Monday!!!

Source: Wrestlingnews.net

Sounds suspicious. Where's RAW this Monday night?

Oh... Laredo, Texas.

It would be comparable to 51 year old Psycho Sid / 57 year old Vader winning squash matches and 52 year old stroke survivor and all round bump machine Bret Hart winning the US title. The madness of it all:shifty:

Love to see Malenko though, haven't seen him in forever, but really anyone who hasn't been on tv for a while, fuckin' sick of Snuka etc. Be surprised if Lawler or Flair don't get a match out of it too.

I think the main difference is that Dean Malenko is 5'6" and his most "impactful" move is a snap suplex. Sell that Slater!

Its not like Heath Slaters some kind of hoss, all of Malenkos moves, assuming he's kept in shape, he could easily do on Slater. He's just not a big enough name realistically on his own, the Radicalz debut was a big Raw moment but sadly they can't use that.

Vader's appearance was better than most big men in their prime. That's not hyperbole. Hell, most of the big men in WWE NOW can't move around the ring as well as he did. Was he as good as he used to be? No. What was great about it was that he moved better than any 400+ lb. 57 year old with two artificial knees has any right to. And he was willing to leave his feet.

As for Sid, yeah. I was hoping for at least a chokeslam.

Depressing? Really? Grow some balls, he had fun, so did as (being a Sid fan). Sure he's old but its quite marvelous coming from the injury he sustained that he can move as well as he did. It's not sad at all, quite the opposite. Now he gets to move on with his life in a positive way.

The only thing that would make these appearances by the legends more fun is if Matt Striker was on commentary. Seriously, just bring him out for that segment and let him mark out at the destruction of Heath Slater. And hell, when this stuff is finished, Slater can take issue with Striker enjoying him getting beaten up each week, so he beats Striker to get back some heel heat.

Striker on commentary would improve both Raw and Smackdown.
Don't get why they chose Josh Matthews over him, Striker is much better...

Mr. Nerfect
06-30-2012, 10:38 PM
Josh Mathews is a really good commentator, as well. I still think that Michael Cole should just do RAW, and that a commentary team of Mathews, Booker T & Matt Striker on SmackDown would be fantastic, though.

I was really into the idea of having completely separate guys on commentary on the two shows until the roster split reached the level of ridiculousness it's at now and having distinct feels for both shows became less important.

I do still like the idea of Matt Striker getting a shot on one of the big shows. He's incredible.

What big men on the current WWE roster can't move as well as current Vader? Did you not notice him waddling around the ring at what can only really be described as a glacial pace?

Don't get me wrong. I was a huge fan of the prolific Vader, but I have absolutely no desire to see him in his current state, and there was nothing impressive about his latest Monday night performance. Nothing. He was OK at VERY best, but that shouldn't net him a pass for television time in which he was shitting on a current talent.

I feel like some of you are letting nostalgia get to you a bit too much. This sort of thing is in direct disagreement with the long-standing sentiment that the new generation will never get as over as the older generations. Herald them. Honor them. Mention them in conversations...but get them the fuck out of the ring unless they are still bringing it for real.

Vastardikai
07-02-2012, 03:39 AM
Glacial Pace is much faster than Khali, who moves with the speed of a tectonic plate. That was the main person I had in mind.

The only time I actually noticed Vader having problems was when he was getting up, but beyond that, he lost a step, but was mostly the same guy. How much of that was his health and how much of that was Heath Slater bumping like a madman for him is up for debate.

ABT, I get your sentiment. I honestly do. I thought watching Tommy Rich wrestle 5 years ago was the saddest thing I had ever seen. A few months later, Jake "The Snake" Roberts went out there and 'topped' him. If Vader went out there and embarrassed himself, I'd be bitching right next to you. As I would be if he were making a WWE Title run. But he showed up once, had a fair offering, and if that's the extent of him wrestling, I'm perfectly alright with that. Big thing with me is, let's keep it at a rare appearance while he can still go.

Either would be a pretty awesome end to this for Slater. Austin beating Slater would be a great way to segue into Austin vs. Punk. It'd bring Austin back as a viable in-ring competitor, and Punk could perhaps goad Austin into getting into the ring with him by asking him if he wants his last match to be against Heath Slater.

The Undertaker would be good, too. If Taker were healthy enough, I think doing Sheamus vs. Taker at SummerSlam for the World Heavyweight Title would be a great way to put Sheamus over like a beast going forward. But even so -- having Taker show up, squash Slater and disappear again at least gives people a nice moment on a big RAW.

The other option is Shawn Michaels. I'd personally mark the fuck out for that, and if HBK actually competed in a technical match against Slater, I would love to see Daniel Bryan goad HBK into a WrestleMania similarly to how I suggested Punk do it with Austin.

i am sure others here would not appreciate if you took their posts (WORDS FOR WORD) and claim that as your own, which you probably do other places.

so troll? yea i guess on this issue. but that is much better than the post-thieving pussy who can't even defend his actions.

i imagine he gets a lot of posts from noid to use at other boards. HE MAYBE EVEN TOOK A POST BY YOU.

but im not really surprised he hasn't responded yet. he can't find a post from somewhere else where a poster has to defend their thieving ways. until he can find a post like that, we won't get any explanation

Yes to the 1st two, not really interested in seeing AA unless its Horseman related which i dont think theyd do without Flair. Could have had him brag about being part of the greatest faction in wrestling history only for the Horsemen theme to hit. Or better yet the NOD theme and D-Lo comes out:D

To say you wouldn't want to see Heath Slater eat a AA spinebuster is blasphemous and I demand you apologize.

i am somewhat an avid reader at both places in many sub-forums. i noticed him doing it a few months ago. called him out, nothing happened OH WELL. NO BIGGIE MAYBE HE JUST DIDNT KNOW HOW HE TO EXPRESS HIS OPINION. then recently i have seen them because they were only posted an hour or 2 apart so they were fresh in my mind. so while i chalked the first time (s) up to laziness or something, these recent ones pretty much shown me that this is what mr. c does. he has probably been doing it for awhile at various places.

don't think it's just the wrestling forum, i have noticed some paste-jobs in the mma forum too. poor guy.

p.s. its all about the pursuit of justice

maybe he wants the 'interaction' or people to think he can form a decent sentence on his own.

Alright, I give up. It's not even worth it. This will be my very last post on this forum. You can now run around your parents' basement celebrating about the pursuit of justice, seeing as how you live there and probably never leave it.

took you quite awhile to find the right 'i'm leaving' post to copy

should have picked one with such horrible cliches as 'parents basement' and 'you never leave here'

no surprise that still there isn't an explanation. keep searching for that one, dude.
