Would be great to see Cody Rhodes get a run, and I kind of miss the paperbag gimmick too.

Cody Rhodes was also my first choice. He has the it factor for a nice small run as champion. I love his finisher.

Damien Sandow. Just hope he change his draws

Drew Mcintyer has to sooner or later live up to the name the chosen one.

Mason Ryan fell off the grib but I think they can do a few things with his character. I think he is the future Kane and Big Show.

Mcguillicutty has the skill-set to look good as a champion something like Roode now in TNA

Ryback's Gimmick has championship all over it.

Wade Barrett is guaranteed a title reign when he returns

I know he isn't on the roster now but I believe Morrison could hold one of those belts in the future.

Also I think it may come up later but Dolph Ziggler never really was a champion. He never it won it and he never lost it. Vicky awarding it to him lasted about 2 minutes.

Brodus Clay is likable enough to get over big like Santino but he's got the look to make Vince jump at the chance to put the title on him

Johnny Curtis is just awesome in every way. It all comes down to if the company realizes this. He's a good looking guy, he oozes charisma and he's fun to watch in the ring. The way he sells and the way he presents himself in the ring is unique too. If it were up to me, everything I do with his character at this very moment is with the idea in mind to slowly build him to be the next big thing.

Ryback is the obvious choice. He's not only a sure champion within the next year or so as long as he stays healthy but he's a sure WrestleMania main eventer in my mind.

Those are the three I can see who would fit the mould. You never know though. There have been some random title holders that no one would have ever pegged years before they won it.

I'm not sure why Kofi is such a popular choice. Nothing screams "future WWE/World champ" to me and in his years in the company, it's always seemed like they've liked him being on TV but there's no sign that a long-term push is in the cards. I can't see him being a champ. Maybe in one of those "Holy fuck, that just happened!" moments but I could see that with a lot of guys. And I don't think it would be long term.

Antonio Cesaro
He's unique (what with being from Switzerland) he can talk, he has the look and he can go in the ring. I don't think he's going to hold it in a year or even in two, but 3 or 4 years down the line I see him getting a run with the championship. He'll never be one of those guys that has a title run every year, but I can see him winning 2 or 3 times.

Cody Rhodes
If he doesn't win the championship it'll be a sin. Cody has everything going for him and the best part about him is that he keeps improving. This feud with Christian should have been a lot better than it was but I assume it was done just to take the belt off of Cody so he can move on to a world title run.

David Otunga
He's never going to be the best in the ring or even the best character, but he has that it factor about him... not the usual it factor mind you. His it factor is that he is an articulate, good looking, intelligent man and he will be a great shill for the WWE for years to come. You could just see it in the B.A. Star vignettes the WWE plays. Once Otunga is turned face he'll be a big star in the WWE. They'll push him the way they did Bobby Lashley, except Otunga isn't nearly the wrestler Lashley was (and Lashley wasn't all that fantastic) but he has much better mic skills and is someone that will do exactly what the WWE tells him.

Drew McIntyre
It has happened before that a wrestler that has all the assets turns out to be nothing... I just don't think that this will be Drew McIntyre's fate. One of these days the WWE will find something for Drew that will catapult him into the main event and once he gets there he'll stick.

Ryback
I hope he doesn't get the title soon, but one day he will get that title. I can see the WWE playing this streak out for over a year (barring Ryback getting injured, if he does he may never get back to where he is even now). What I think the WWE should do is have Ryback keep beating two jobbers then in a month or so beat 3 guys for like 2 months and then 4 guys breifly. Then around November or so he should start some sort of lower card destruction where he beats guys like Trent Baretta and Heath Slater for a few months. Then at Royal Rumble have him take the U.S. or Intercontinental titles. Have that reign last until maybe the May or June PPV where he wins the World or WWE championship (without losing the mid-teir championship)

Ted DiBiase
I don't see much in him but the WWE did at one time and I don't think that the WWE would totally give up on that now. He has a good look, he can wrestle decently, he can talk well and he's the son of a great, the WWE rarely lets those types of guys toil in lower-mid-card hell.

Titus O'Neil
6'6" ex-football player whose jacked and is willing to act like a racist stereotype in order to get over with the WWE audience and the WWE management? Why wouldn't the WWE push this guy to the main event? Actually there are several reasons why he may never be the WWE or World Heavyweight champion... I just have a feeling he will hold one of those titles some day.

Wade Barrett
Not a fan of his, nor do I hate him. I feel indioffrent about Wade Barrett but it is inevitable. If he hadn't got injured he probably would be the champion right now.

I know I'm in the minority here but I fucking LOVED the DiBiase Posse gimmick. It was so old school face-like that I thought it was fun and there could have been way more done with it. It made me want to see him succeed and get pushed.

Not to make this another Ryback thread or anything, but if they are developing him as a man monster face on his way to the main event picture, who is he going to take the title from that will put him over huge?

Goldberg winning the WCW Championship was massive because he had the entire nWo to face off against, with "the man" being Hulk Hogan at the top. Beating Hogan clean was a huge moment.

Who has that kind of heel status right now? A victory over Daniel Bryan won't be that impressive. Maybe Big Show, but he's been beaten by everyone and their mother. A win over a heel John Cena could be a golden ticket, but that's so out of the realms of reality that it's not even really an option.

A win over someone like Brock Lesnar might be huge, but Brock isn't sticking around. The only real top tier guys who he could beat for that "big moment" feel would be Triple H or Undertaker, and they would have to be playing a dominant heel role for it to really work, which I don't see in either of their futures.

I really don't think there's any chance of a Drew title run. Now, stranger things have happened, but WWE seems to have lost all interest in McIntyre and he's relegated to superstars and the like.

Barrett and Rhodes are virtually certain to get at least one run, and pretty soon as well. Ryback will get one as well, if all goes to plan it could happen within a year.

McIntyre will thankfully will never get one because he's awful and more people should realise this.

Kofi is a mid level face for life at this point, Brodus is more than likely with him.

Sandow should get a reign because he's brilliant.

Split my choices into 3 groups.

Very Likely or Soon
Cody Rhodes - Been slowly and consistently developing into a great star ever since his move to Smackdown.
Wade Barrett - If the dirt sheets are to be believed, it should be soon for him since he might get his big push back.
Ziggler - While he wasn't listed, his first reign doesn't really count so I can see him in the near future have an actual reign.

Potential Future
Santino Marella - Mostly because of the potential of him winning the MitB case.
Damien Sandow - Similar to Santino but in this case of the WWE putting him in a big match this early into his WWE career and the possibilty of him actually winning the case.

Maybe/Maybe Not
Kofi Kingston - Might be rewarded with a reign in the future just because of his reliability and the WWE usually picking him for big matches when they want that one big moment done.
Brodus Clay - As a heel, he fits the typical big man/monster type while his face character is already really popular with the crowd.
Ryback - If he actually follows the Goldberg route, then within 2 years he'll probably be champion although I think some tweaks will be needed in his gimmick to be a good champion.

6'6" ex-football player whose jacked and is willing to act like a racist stereotype in order to get over with the WWE audience and the WWE management? Several reasons why they wouldn't push this guy. I can think of three reasons actually and its nothing against Titus O Neil the person, but rather the performer. The first being the guy has experience and a good amount of experience and he's stilll green as fuck. He has been in developmental well over 2-3 years and now on the undercard of the main roster (NXT/Superstars) for well over a year now and the guy botches at least 2-3 spots and moves a match. I watched him do the top sky high powerbomb on Epico a week or two ago and he totally almost dropped him on his fucking head.

The second reason being he has no charisma/personality. The guy barks like a dog and that gimmick has been done once and should not be done twice to honor the late, great JYD-Junkyard Dog.

The third and final reason being the guy can't cut a promo for the life of it.
Remember his first round on NXT?? If you're gonna win....make it a win?? WTF kinda garbage nonsense was that.

Overall the guy has no "IT" factor for longterm success or longevity in the business of professional wrestling. Without any character or charisma to back him up, he's just another jockhead that will be lost in the midcard and eventually future endeavored down the line in the next 1-2 years frankly.

This is a really well thought out response. Its far better than my, "He looks good enough," justification for what I think he may one day be champion.

As far as the botches are concerned some take longer than others to develop. But you seem to know more about him than I do, so I'll defer to you.

I could see a lot of of that list holding one of the two belts one day

Cody Rhodes - Cody is getting to the point where it's inevitable
Damien Sandow - Couple of years down the line - I like his gimmick and it's something that would go well with a title run
Michael McGillicutty - He definately has the "it" factor. I am confused why he's not getting a bigger push now, and why they aren't exploiting the "son of Mr. Perfect" thing more than they could
Ryback - I fail to see how they could invest what they have so far without a title run
Tensai - Money in the bank winner? Maybe, maybe not, but at some point he's gonna get a title run
Wade Barrett - He was there and ready before his injury. Hoping he comes back soon.
Zack Ryder - I think the fans will get him a token run!

my opinion on the matter is, if you have a match where you defend the title..you were champion..even if that match was 10 minutes after they gave you the belt and you go on to lose it in said match..

#1-norm-fan
07-04-2012, 02:01 PM
Yes. He wasn't champion for over a week though. That's all I was saying. If you're basing it on the fact that he was champion longer than a lot of guys' first reigns (Which even at a week, I'm not sure is true), then the basis is wrong.

The fact is, Edge used an illegal move at the Royal Rumble on January 30th 2011. It may be that Ziggler wasn't awarded the belt on television until February 18, 2011. He only held the belt for 8 minutes and 46 seconds, but he was technically champion ever since the use of the illegal move.

Curtis Anderson is hilarious. I'll bite.

The Spear wasn't banned for the Royal Rumble match between Edge and Ziggler. The Spear was banned stemming from Edge absolutely destroying Ziggler with Spears and thus Vickie tipping the scales in Ziggler's favour. Edge did use the Spear after it was banned by Guerrero, and that led to him being stripped and Ziggler being awarded the World Heavyweight Championship by Vickie Guerrero.

Ziggler also held the belt for 11 minutes and 23 seconds; much longer than the 8:46 you alluded to.
