Sting, genuinly never saw the appeal of Hogan, even as a kid.

Personal preferences aside, it's hard not to acknowledge the impact Hulk Hogan has had on the wrestling world. Plus, I doubt anyone would have cared about the whole Crow/Sting thing as much if it weren't for Hogan's involvement.

Also, Hogan here for me. I love the Stinger and all, but putting my inner smark aside for a moment, it's Hulk fucking Hogan. No matter what we believe of him these days, I would bet a large majority of you would mark out if his music hit in a WWE arena, I know I would. And he's probably a large reason most people around the world got hooked on wrestling.

But yeah, Hogan for me here, probably the greatest 'character' ever.

Personally hogan never figured into my love of wrestling when I was a child before my parents got cable my best friend who had it described The Undertaker to me and I was hooked right there I had to see him.I knew who Hogan was but I couldve cared less he was just some bald old guy with a stupid mustache it was all about the dead man for me

then I got hooked on Sting then Raven Brian Pillman these were my heros.

I can't deny the impact, no pun intended, he's had on the business during his career but he's always been kinda 'meh' to me, I enjoyed his early run with the nWo but outwith the occasional angle I've really never cared about him, I feel the same way about Flair though.

Kinda shocked Hogan is leading atm. Was certain TPWW would be happy to kill off Hogan.

Anyway, no way I will vote for someone over Hogan unless maybe Undertaker, HBK or Ric Flair.

Believe it dude I mean Taker a appealed to me he was wrestings answer to Batman as far as I'm concerned about him was boss and Hogan really nothing stood out about him i fact ive never been attracted to those types so it makes sense.

Never a fan of the white night good guys And Sting really did become anti-hero during the Crow phase I was in love with it

in fact since Im comparing I've never really liked superman either

Ok while Hogan has more or less been the guy who helped put professional wrestling on the map back in the 80's and 90's, I've gotta go with Sting. Sting to me has been more professional over the years and doesn't get too involved in all the backstage politics and bullshit. I'm also pretty sure that when Sting "retires" it'll be for good, unlike Mr. Hogan.

Never been a fan of either, but there's no denying the what Hulk did for the industry.

You could show anyone - wrestling fan or not, those two pictures side-by-side, and people will always know who Hulk Hogan is, can't say the same for Sting.

Hogan brought and brings so much unparalleled mainstream appeal to pro wrestling, unmatched by any celebrity involvement since. Hogan was perhaps the first pro wrestler to become an international celebrity. He and Vince MADE sports entertainment.

Hogan every single time. Nobody in the history of pro wrestling has ever come close to being able to control a crowd like Hogan, to know what to do and when to do it with such "accuracy". Add that to his "moments", to his promos, his mannerisms/facials, his influence etc and it's a landslide. Not to mention that he used to work his fucking ass off when he was "the man" through the late 80's, inside the ring and out. Should have been one of the very first guys into the Better Wrestler HOF, not popping up in round 279.

If we are voting based on effect on the industry and not actual wrestling talent we should probably change the name better wrestler or at least a preface for criteria cause if we were truly going by wrestling ability hogan would never be on this list.

Hogan.

Sting was better overall in wrestling skills but Hogan became the icon and the face of wrestling for the 1980s and most of the 90s.

Hogan also was a lot better in terms of promo skills while his Hulkamania and Hollywood characters tops Crow Sting.

Gertner

Hogan was the best face of the 80's and the best heel of the 90's.

Having not been alive except for 9 months of the 80s, I have never really given a fuck about Hulk Hogan. His heel run was nice, but it didn't have the same impact on me as someone who remembers him as Superhero Steve. Sting is better than Hogan in everything except nostalgia pops, narcissism, rubbing oil on his daughter's ass, and putting asses in seats.

Lock Jaw

As a kid.... I won't lie and say that I hated Hogan. I liked him. HOWEVER. I was more of a Macho Man/Ultimate Warrior fan.

I didn't get to see WCW as much as a kid, and for some reason took it as more "legit" because it is what my grandfather watched, and loved whenever I saw Sting.

I loved Hogan when I was a kid. But then I fell off the wrestling bandwagon and started watching again in 96/97 when I was introduced to Sting. Hogan is no doubt an icon that transcends wrestling but in the end my vote goes to the Stinger due to the simple fact that he entertained me more than Hogan.

What's funny to me is that my mind instantly says Sting is the better in ring wrestler, even though during their respective runs as mega baby faces they both wrestled basically the exact same match. Sting/Hogan gains the early advantage via feats of strength-> heel does something to gain upper hand -> beat down -> rest hold -> Sting/Hogan struggles to his feet -> breaks hold -> surge of adrenaline -> Big boot/Stinger splash -> Leg drop/Scorpion death lock -> let's all go home.

And I can name you a handful of Hogan classics, but I can't name you too many Sting classics, and I dunno if I can name any that don't involve Flair or Muta or somebody who knew how to put on a show. But Hogan put on classics with Warrior, Andre when he couldn't go, and the Rock (;))

So I dunno guys.

The correct answer is Hogan. People who voted for Sting are the same shitty bastards who argue that Michael Jordan isn't the best basketball player of all time. That Babe Ruth isn't the best baseball player ever. Hogan meant far more to rasslin than Sting. Hogan is the Michael Jordan of rasslin and Sting is maybe Scottie Pippen. Or maybe he is the Dwayne Schintzius.

Gertner

I totally phrased that wrong. Wrestling ability is about 20% of the overall picture.

Went with the Hulkster...I just think he made more of a contribution to the business. He helped bring wrestling to the mainstream. Sure, his matches in North America were nothing too spectacular, but he could go when he needed to, and some matches in Japan shows this. While Sting may have been better technically, I never saw much of hime growing up.

Sting. Had this poll been taken 6 years ago and Hogan had actually held to his promise that he'd not stay in the business, I'd have gone Hogan. But he's overstayed his welcome for far too long, plus Sting doesn't bitch to the promoters that he can't win 100% of the time, he just goes out, gets his job done for the night, collects paycheck and leaves; lather, rinse, repeat, no BS.
