With the re-release of the manga doing so well, at an event last week celebrating the 20th anniversary of Sailor Moon, it was announced by it's manga publisher Kodansha, it's creator Naoko Takeushi and Idol group Momoiro Clover Z that a reboot of the anime is in production and will begin broadcasting in Summer 2013 for a world-wide simultaneous release. Momoiro Clover Z will perform the theme.

I like this news and hope it happenes, though I wonder how a simultaneous world-wide release will work.

A few months I randomly wondered about Sailor Moon. I was into the anime when it came to the states, and it helped me get into anime more seriously at the time. It also broadened my knowledge of the sentai concept (which Power Rangers and Voltron owe a dept to).

A new show should be cool, and I'm glad they recognize it's international appeal. In closing, I would like you to look for that American cartoon version pilot with the live-action bits. That would have been GOLD.

Was there ever an official DVD release of the Sailor Moon series in the US?
Well, a release that wasn't the crappy-ass DIC dub?

If not, I'd rather have that than an entire reboot...interesting news though.

There was an official release that was original Japanese with subtitles.

I saw those a few times but kept forgetting to pick them up, sadly Amazon doesn't have them in stock.
