I wish they could make seasons finales longer. I mean, we only have about 42 minutes of Walking Dead goodness left before it's over for a while. Maybe do a special episode twice as long?

Rammsteinmad
03-26-2013, 03:53 PM
Also here's a thought I had watching the latest episode. Now, I'm no biology expert or whatever, and am only guessing here, but the zombies are fully decomposed/rotting, unable to move too fast etc. How is it when they're chopped up, blood spews everywhere? Wouldn't it have dried up or something? I dunno how the body works in that respect, and maybe it wouldn't, but was just a thought.

At the same time, given how weak their zombie bodies are, they probably shouldn't even be walking without their legs snapping after a couple of steps.

But this a show about zombies, so I guess it's ok to ignore a few biological and physiological rules.

There bodies are becoming less and less with nothing to feed off of, we'll not as much. Makes sense for the bodies to become fragile.

Also, just enjoy the show. Being picky is no fun.

I was thinking about that, but then how come they're all so structurally stable? If the skull is getting so soft, I'd think the the legs would go all jelly too. I think they just don't care about it, so whatever.

The virus seems to start in the brain, maybe that's the first to go....extremities being later. By season 5, the "walkers" will just be sludge and the show will move on to being about survival of those remaining, and rebuilding society.

Or like you said, they just don't give a fuck.

What we have now is a little Shane, which is awesome. Easily my favorite character. And yeah, he should have dropped the shotgun. I also would have thought something devious if he was trying to get me closer to him, let alone him being a part of an attack squad not a minute before.

And Carl telling Rick why he was a horrible leader all season was the nail in the coffin.

Blitz
04-01-2013, 02:23 AM
I think a lot of the 4th season is going to be about Carl's evolution, and it'll probably put him more at odds with Rick. One thing the show seems to be doing is making the characters into more clearcut heroes and villains, and I'm not really down with that. I'll take fuzzy, slightly amoral Rick over cuddly do-gooder Rick. So I hope they keep Carl walking that fine line.

They need to work on Tyreese, big time. The character is little more than a generic, slightly dim bulb.

Given that they're sticking around the prison, I'm betting the Gov will make a comeback towards the latter half of next season, with an army that's down with his tactics. Then, we'll get the big war that this season was seemingly building to.

RIP Andrea, I guess. Character could've been so much better if they'd hewn closer to her comic counterpart.

It was obvious to me Andrea was going to bite it some way. Incredibly, I wasn't hit as hard about it as Lori's death, an event that moved me to tears even though I legit disliked her character arc. Andrea dying seemed like a necessary 'season finale' sacrifice with her season long arc. I totally Milton was gonna stay around, though. I also thought some reference to his earlier Walker experiments would come up while he was turning, like he'd answer to his name or something.

I foresee some time jump next season, they're going to have to address Carl's growth spurt and the best way to do that is with another time jump, maybe longer than a season this time. Also he'll be closer to having an actual 'thing' with the other daughter.

The ending to this season seemed way too happy-ish. Say the Governor lost confidence with his people, and Rick really could take Woodberry now, there's no threat there. Like three guys versus Team Rick + Carl the Destroyer? What the fuck ever. I wanna see them back on the road.

I also thought some reference to his earlier Walker experiments would come up while he was turning, like he'd answer to his name or something.

Another time jump, perhaps even longer, would make sense. Honestly, that might be the best way to go after every season. Makes more narrative sense to me, and would probably help flesh out the world and characters more. Maybe.

I didn't think the finale was all that weak. There were no shocking developments or cliffhangers or really anything to lead into next season aside from the Carl stuff, which I think is what's turned a number of people off the episode, but it wrapped everything up pretty nicely for the season and left the governor out there for a return.

I'm glad they didn't just go with an all out gun fight between the two sides. We saw that at the middle point of the season so we didn't really need a repeat of it.

I know they're coming back for another season, but that ending felt more like a series finale than a season finale.

The Governor hell bent on revenge with just two other people isn't quite as menacing, especially with the way the raid flopped. I'd be kind of pissed if he was able to criss-cross Georgia and convince more people to follow him for no reason at all and have them agree to attack a group they don't know. Seems like all potential internal strife is gone too. I guess they could do some kind of power struggle between Carl and his dad, but I don't particularly care for that storyline and think it will be tiring very quickly.

I'm sure they'll come up with something, but if the show would have ended on this note, I wouldn't have been too upset with the way it ended.

I haven't read the comics, so I don't know if it's ever addressed, but I wouldn't mind if they went away from Rick's group altogether for the first half of Season 4 and just explored the origin of the virus in some way and then caught up to Rick's group fast forward two or three years to account for growth spurts and such and used that second half to introduce new threats and explain whatever changes occurred to the group dynamics occurred over that period of time.

Nice finale, and a huge "fuck you" to all the people on here who were sooooo dead-set sure that either Glenn of Maggie would die. :p

I love the unpredictability of this show, and by not having all-out warfare was a nice move. Carl is basically gonna turn into Shane now, but I think it's interesting. I know it's hard for Rick to see this, but I guess when surviving countless zombie attacks, wars with other camps and limitless death, I can see how a young kid could start to become a lot more ruthless. I just hope it doesn't turn into a full-on falling out between Rick and Carl.

I also like that the Governor vanished. I know people are expecting a return, would be interesting if he didn't. If he just accepted his loss and moved on, though I was kinda hoping Martinez and that black dude had killed him.

Overall fantastic season. Now comes the long wait for season 4. Probably gonna go back and watch all three seasons again at some point.

In the 6 month it will be off, I hope they tighten things up a bit. A time jump sound right. Hopefully they will get back to some good plot lines that don't include too much internal strife. At this point it is over used. The new members from Woodbury will hopefully produce some good characters including kids for Carl to hang with. Hopefully there not just fodder.

Quite a departure from the "nutshell" comic joke of "1)Rick tells Carl to go in the house. 2) Carl's never in the fucking house!" This Carl doesn't need to hide in the goddamn house. Being stupid and not "pulling the trigger" already cost someone their life, and he showed us he's not going to let that happen again. Like a boss.

I don't see how you can not side with Carl, if someone is pointing a gun at your face and are outnumbered, you drop the fucking thing. Not hand it to them, but drop it. It's nice to see Carl turning into the psycho/getting shit done comic book character without the need for *COMIC SPOILER* killing other young kids ...unless that's coming later.

The final moments weren't as hard hitting as previous season finales, it felt more like a mid season break. Andrea just bugged the crap out of me so didn't really 'feel' for her death. But it was nice to see Michone be more human than usual and show emotion.

Sucks that Milton has gone, he was an interesting character and was hoping he would somehow make it over to Rick's side but there we go. Gov going absolutely batshit was pretty awesome but didn't really make much sense, but he's a pretty twisted fucker now so expect some good things for next season.

Also, Maggie must be the only person who can make a SWAT uniform sexy.

I'm pretty sure they did, but after the governors first attack breaking the gates down and having Tyreese and co sneak in the back door, they stuck around. The ones out front were probably left in case the Governor came back, kind of like an unofficial defence.

I don't think they'd feel bad. Imagine what those older zombies would feel like suddenly being cured. All malnourished, probably suffering from organ failure, probably missing rotted off limbs. They would have done them all a favor.
