View Full Version : Where does Heath Slater go from here

I've been big on Slater for quite some time now. Always thought he had a "Miz level of obnoxiousness" to him. He's seemed to have gained support from the boys in the back, and he did way better than I expected during his Legends feud.

He's gained some momentum, so what's in store for the ONE MAN BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND!?!?!

He's definitely good at getting faces over because he's very dislikable. So jobber duty? Perhaps get into the U.S title picture?

I'd really love to see him back in a tag team. Johnny Curtis maybe? The Two Man Weird Band?

He'd be a great 'X-Pac' for a stable.

He should form a stable like West Texas Rednecks.

Bought his theme song on Amazon with my Dark Knight Rises credit. US title picture seems to be geared to Anthony Cesaro right now. That could change at a drop of a hat though. Guys like Slater are why I wish they still had tertiary titles.

Wonder if they could continue this storyline arch for him in a different direction, like maybe one of the legends (maybe one from the back, like a road agent or something) claims they see something in him and becomes his manager. (Could be Road Dogg, for example, with the whole musical background in his character)

We get him losing but getting in increasing amounts of offense for a number of weeks, all the while showing a few shorts promo bits on Raw or Smackdown of him training with Road Dogg (could be funny as well with Road Dogg involved). Then, finally, he gets a big win, followed by more wins and goes on a bit of a role. He starts to get cocky and they tease friction between him and the legend manager.

Eventually they could build to him turning on the legend manager and setting up a PPV match against them with him going over, setting him up as a good mid-card heel with a bit of a background, makes his character a bit more well rounded. Could easily challenge a face champion like Santino for the US title after a feud like that...

Honky Tonk Man can be his manager and Slater becomes the new Rockabilly.

I'd give him some big dumb hick hoss as a bodyguard. No idea who they've got who play that role though. Could be some funny promos and backstage skits as well with Slater manipulating the big dumb hick into doing stupid stuff that benefits him.

Basically the DDP/Christian angle? I don't think many people will enjoy cheering Slater during the time he has the manager though.

Just having him keep getting his ass kicked by legends, its been fun

The difference would be Christian sucks and Slater is amazing,

I wouldn't mind that either. Doesn't even have to be "legends". Just bring back former WWE guys every Raw, have him beat some of the jobbers that return like Funaki and Stevie Richards but mostly lose but still be really cocky.

Still say they should team him up with Zack Ryder so they can have a Zack and Slater tag team and have Mr Belding manage them.

I was just gonna make a post of "You've been hired as a WWE writer on a trial basis. Your test is to make Heath Slater credible again. Assume he can do whatever you need of him." Here's what I do:

1) Keep Slater losing for a few more weeks in high profile matches.
2) Start showing backstage vignettes of him with one of the agents (Dean Malenko or Ricky Steamboat would be my top choices) getting more and more upset with his streak.
3) Eventually have the agent get him to think back to his last winning match - Doink. What's Doink got that makes him a legend?
4) Have Slater realize that it's not the wrestling ability that got Doink over (after all, Slater beat him), it's the face paint.
5) Put Slater in makeup and he becomes a badass once the paint is fully applied.

There is only one person who can actually help Heath Slater rise to main event level status and possibly unify the World Heavyweight Championship and WWE Championship at Wrestlemania.

They're thinking about continuing the legend angle.

Heath Slater is absolutely tremendous. The guy is such a great heel that I almost feel sorry for him and want to cheer him as I boo his obnoxiousness.

They should bring up that Audrey Marie from FCW to be his new valet, even though she's from Texas. Everyone assumes that it's Slater's girlfriend until he introduces his sister to the WWE Universe. Legends and main event stars then hit on Audrey Marie, and Slater gets all up in their face "Are you hitting on my sister?! Not cool, man! I'll see you in the ring later." Slater then goes out there and does what he does -- makes guys look good.

If they want to give Slater a proper manager, how about Jamie Noble? I always thought Noble was hilarious as a personality. Just hearing Noble at ringside -- "get him, boy!" as Slater slaps a chinlock on someone would be worth it.

I'm not a big Heath Slater fan, but in his case, as long as keeps getting featured on television regularly, it's really up to him where he goes next.

He seems like a passionate dude and he's gotten a nice rub from this Legends angle, so we'll see.

If a manager/coach was used for Slater I'd love it to be Edge, Edge could use his 'veteran' status at ringside and in backstage skits to teach Slater how to beat various guys, pointing out their weaknesses, and how to become an opportunist.

Have Slater start picking up wins under Edges guidance and once he starts winning have Edge turn Heel manager and start using Slater to sort Edges 'unfinished business' with upper tier guys then have Slater turn face with Edge screwing him out of a title or something.

Would be great to see Edge on screen again, and Edge would be the perfect guy to make Slater look good.

Mason Andrews fits into that silent bodyguard role, whats he doing nowadays? I think he would be good with a bodyguard, doesn't nessisarily need a dumb hick bodyguard though. I always liked him with Justin Gabriel, I think he should stick with tag teams.

I'm sorry, but no. He is competent. He is comfortable on the mic, but nothing particularly special. It does not take a whole lot of skill to be an obnoxious heel. Or at least the kind he plays week in and week out.

Tremendous is far too strong word to be using here, in my opinion.

WWE could have the Wendy's girl hand out coupons at ringside, and then Slater comes out complaining that she is intruding on his time! He approaches her with a grimace. Just when he is within a few feet, she steps back and then kicks forward! (To protect against a legitimately stiff groin blow, such as what Jimmy Hart suffered at the hands of an untrained DJ in the Y2K WCW, Slater could shift his thighs together so that her foot hits his inner quads but not his package.)

Slater then falls and rolls around while flutter kicking his legs at about 120 beats per minute as the Wendy's girl looks down in disgust and walks up the ramp. Slater slowly gets up and begins stalking after, when out comes the Iron Sheik!

IS puts Slater in a keylock, drags him into the ring, and body slams him. Sheiky Baby then proceeds to legitimately stretch Slater's back via Camel Clutch.

THANK YOU!

It's like when Vickie first turned heel and was getting heat for "excuse me" or when John Laurinaitis first started out and people were loving him. Except Slater isn't nearly getting the same heat or as over.

The man doesn't deserve credit for being awkward, looking like a 12 year old girl with downs syndrome and sounding horrifically fake on the mic just because he's a heel and people hate him for it. I'll accept him being tremendous in the same ironic way I'll accept Mike Adamle or a promo-cutting Ryback jobber as tremendous.

Though I will say that even with my current thoughts, it does seem like he's getting more comfortable on the mic. I still don't get any joy over seeing his character get beaten though like I'm supposed to. I just feel bad because he looks and sounds like a retarded guy.

Being obnoxious is practically the #1 requirement for IWC consideration.

He's a decent comedy jobber for however long it takes for it to run stale. might be able to slide in the carpenter role if they give him a little in ring credibility but outside of that he has no potential.

Heath Slater had a tremendous match on Superstars against Tyson Kidd this week. Just tremendous.

They should start calling him Tremendous Slater, and he should just say "Tremendous!" on the microphone after he wins every match he ever has, and then he puts on a cape and walks up the ramp.

The One Man Band gimmick does not need to be entirely dropped. He can come out to the same theme music and be "The One Man Rock Band" Tremendous Slater. Being tremendous would just add depth to his already tremendous character.
