View Full Version : Sheamus is having a fantastic run as World Heavyweight Champion

Just saying. While it's not really "must see" television, Sheamus has evolved into such a fantastic performer. He can talk, he is constantly having great matches, and some of his moves have a "Wow!" factor to them. I'd be totally OK with him holding the World Heavyweight Title for a long, long time to come. Why rush Ziggler cashing in?
Sheamus appeals to the target demographic. As far as I am concerned, he is very bland. Not denying the fact that he is the future of the bidness.

Heyman should say him and the WWE settled the lawsuit and part of the agreement was Lesnar getting a title shout against Sheamus at Night of Champions. Sheamus wins by DQ after Brock refuses to break the hold when Sheamus is on the ropes (Or HBK interferes and gives Brock a DQ victory after F5ing Sheamus). Ziggler comes in and cashes in to win the title.

He's playing the role of Randy Orton this time last year. Not exactly a bad thing, as the difference being that this will only help build him further.

Sheamus always has great matches but his feuds have been quite the opposite. I like Sheamus but he's so dull as a champion, for some reason I've always found him less interesting when he's holing a belt.

Pretty much this.
I find him very bland and repetitive. Personally, I wouldn't say he can talk, as such, as about 90% of his promos involve him saying the worse "arse", sometimes constantly, and telling a story about his every growing "family" and other tall tales.
But I do know that the WWE's target audience absolutely love him and he is the future.

I haven't really enjoyed Sheamus since he waffled Triple H with a pipe during his initial heel run. Cool King said it best in regards to his mic skills...just seems like the same ol shit and you can substitute nearly any wrestler into the feud and he can recite the same tired promo.

I like Sheamus, but I haven't watched Smackdown in years so haven't really seen many of his promos.

Funny, I can't stand Sheamus now.
Couldn't get into him vs Del Rio cuz I find them both so boringgggg
He's a brilliant 'big man' wrassler though, him v Taker would be

Bahh...Sheamus is boring-he has no character. When he first came on board the WWe as a heel, he was much more enjoyable. He pulls off his moves well but he's just a boring wrestler. I was so hoping Alberto would win or Ziggles cashed in. The most exciting thing about Sheamus is him trying to make SHIN-PADS popular.
While watching the title match last night, I realized that both men were very agile for their height and weight.

I always enjoy Sheamus in the ring, he has good matches.... but Cool King has summed up my feelings about his character.

He suffers from the babyface has to be a nice guy booking, I liked him better when he'd just randomly come out and pick a fight, they've taken the edge of his character the same way they did Orton which is a shame.

Great wrestler, but I really can't stand his character. Very bland and boring. :/

Yeah he basically replaced Orton as the mega-face of Smackdown especially once Orton got hit with another wellness violation.
I liked him a lot before his character became really bland and the typical overt babyface. Also has some parts of Super Cena where he can take countless submissions and finishers but ends up needing just 1 of his own to beat the other guy.

I was a HUGE fan of his face turn. Then I got bored with his character. He's growing on me again though. I'm a fan of intimidating faces who are liable to beat the shit out of you in the ring but still have fun and fuck around character-wise.

And the feud with Del Rio has gotten way better over the last couple weeks since Sheamus stole his car. The match last night and the ending was great too. Kinda had an old school feel to it.

You know, I was thinking, I'd love to see him stand up for HHH. A match between Sheamus and Brock Lesnar could be utterly badass.

Thre's no doubt he's a great in ring performer I enjoy him way more than Cena but yeah i'd have to agree with just about him being a little blander since he's turned face.

Really enjoy Sheamus. He can pretty much work with anybody and have a good match, solid on the mic and has a cool look.
They should take the belt off Punk and put both on Sheamus.

sheamus is being a generic smiling babyface piece of shit right now so fuck him

I still say all he needs to do is be an Irishman! He would be over much further than this if it wasn't for BA Star, fuckface Linda's campaign, and everything circulating around John Cena's appeal to little kids who have no fucking clue what's going on during a WWE show.

Should have kept that badass celtic warrior persona he had as a heel. As it stands hes very generic. Matches have been good though. Ill give him that.
Would Nash approve is the real question
Mr. Nerfect

Nash would approve. Sheamus is a big dude, and is perhaps one of the most agile workers of his size out there. Totally want to see Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler have an epic feud which goes like this:
* Dolph Ziggler cashes in his MITB briefcase on Sheamus after The Celtic Warrior beats Randy Orton in a Hell in a Cell Match at the HIAC PPV.
* Sheamus gets a rematch with Dolph, who is all "Yeah, I can beat you!" and wins when he has Ziggler in a Texas Cloverleaf and Dolph won't tap, so Vickie throws in the towel. This takes place at Survivor Series.
* Dolph is all upset, fires Vickie Guerrero and gets a rematch against Sheamus at TLC. Ziggler wins a Beat the Clock contest with Sheamus and gets to choose which type of match they have. He chooses a regular wrestling match, because he wants to prove that he is a better wrestler than Sheamus.
* Sheamus beats Ziggler at TLC with the Brogue Kick (which is made legal again).
* Dolph Ziggler enters the Royal Rumble pretty early, and manages to last right until the end, hanging in there with John Cena and Brock Lesnar. Ziggler manages to somehow outlast both and win the 2013 Royal Rumble.
* Ziggler challenges Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania, but has an ace in the hole -- a returning Ric Flair has become the manager/coach of Ziggler.
* Sheamus defends the World Heavyweight Title at Elimination Chamber successfully, and looks like a beast in the process.
* Ziggler manages to win the World Heavyweight Title for a third time at WrestleMania XXIX, beating Sheamus cleanly with a Superkick, or some new finishing move. He and Ric Flair celebrate together.
* Ziggler and Sheamus have their final match -- a blow-off specialty match at Extreme Rules, which Ziggler wins, cementing himself as the World Heavyweight Champion, with Sheamus then focusing more on being a major part of RAW going forward.

So very bored of Sheamus right now and I wouldn't look forward to six months of him kicking Dolph Ziggler in the head. I'd rather see Zigs feud with absolutely anyone else. Except Jinder Mahal.

Sheamus and Ziggler's matches together are magic.
Mr. Nerfect
09-12-2012, 06:34 PM
I would love to see Ziggler vs. Triple H at WrestleMania, though.
I find Sheamus boring. Same for Del Rio.
God I hate that feud.
Mr. Nerfect
09-12-2012, 06:36 PM
The Del Rio vs. Sheamus feud is boring. It's a shame, because those guys both had amazing rookie years, are top international talent and have similar resumes. It's gone on far too long, though. I still think that Del Rio should move down the card for a bit and feud with a babyface Hunico.
I'm just kind of apathetic in general to WWE's main-event scene at the moment.
It's in its annual "don't do too much until January" phase it gets stuck in around this time of year.

Cena vs. Punk has me pumped. I'm also hoping for Sheamus vs. Randy Orton soon, with Orton putting Sheamus over clean.

I find Sheamus rather uninteresting. His in-ring work is fine, but its all turned into the same "LOL ARSE" "ANGRY FACE" "KICK YOUR ARSE" 3-step protocol every week.
Mr. Nerfect
09-12-2012, 07:58 PM
Oh, I agree. I'm not a big fan of babyface Sheamus' promo work. It's not that he can't talk or is incapable of cutting an interesting promo, though. It's the material he's working with.
I am up for a Champion versus Champion feud between Sheamus and CM Punk to determine the #1 World Champion.

Sheamus and Del Rio's feud would have been amazing if it had a storyline involving both of them losing their voices so neither of them could speak. Or like Sheamus' cousin would say, "ARSE".... "But you already know that".
*shoots self after taking down thousands of people cheering for Sheamus on the mic with him*

Fucking can't stand when a wrestler completely changes his personality after turning face.
He's way too happy go lucky now. He's always got some big stupid grin on his face. Being a badass is what got him over in the first place.

It's awesome Sheamus is showing personality and charisma, but there are only so many times you can hear "arse" and giggle.
Sheamus and Del Rio's rivalry has revolved around "arse" and "crying like a little girl".
I've never really liked Sheamus. I don't like his giant, red-haired, pasty skinned look. I don't like his rather bland big man style. And I really don't like his mic work. Nothing about the guy makes him stand out to me. He doesn't seem threatening (like Lesnar or Undertaker), he doesn't seem "cool" (like CM Punk, Orton, Ziggler, Miz, or even Cena, at times) and he certainly doesn't carry any kind of sympathetic traits (Benoit, Guerrero, Mysterio).
I guess I've also always had a bad taste for him ever since finding out that he only got his push because he's Triple H's weight lifting partner/spotter. No one can say that he got his first WWE Championship so quickly for any reason other than his ties to Triple H, and he continues to get pushed hard because of his connection to Paul Levesque.
There are many others who are far more entertaining and better in the ring who deserve the spotlight over Sheamus, who in my mind, is nothing more than a mid-card player.

I can't think of many guys with a look similiar to the one you described, especially with the size of Sheamus and the gimmick of being Irish, especially in WWE.

I have to disagree with this. Triple H wouldn't push someone just because he's buddies with them. Why is X-Pac not currently the Intercontinental Champion if this were the case? I'm sure being friends with Trips helps, don't get me wrong, but I'm sure that is not the only reason Sheamus was pushed.
Triple H would know how hard Sheamus works, how hungry he is, what his attitude was like, and all of that might have gone into the Sheamus experiment, as well. If he absolutely sucked at his job in the first place, I doubt he would have been handed so much so quickly.
